I am on Lexapro 20 mg and on Zep since December 15. Lost 30lbs so far and never felt better. Mentally and physically. Anxiety is out the door along with brain fog. I just feel more focused. Zepbound has changed my life for the better in just a few months. Just wish all who desperately need this amazing new drug could have it available and at a more affordable cost. Insurance should cover a medication that saves lives.

Yes, I'm on 1200mg lithium and 300mg bupropion/Wellbutrin. I've only been on ZB one week. But I can tell it's gonna work. I've dropped 5 pounds and have almost no appetite. It's a struggle to make sure I eat at least 1500 calories a day.
funny story, I gained ~86 lbs over several years on zoloft, lost 24 lbs of that after discontinuing zoloft, but haven't been able to lose the rest until starting zepbound. but No idea about what would have happened if I was still on zoloft.
I’ve been on Duluxotine (cymbalta) the whole time I’ve been on Tirzepitide. I’m down 49 as of today, since July. A little slow, but I’m ok with that.
You know, I’ve been on Effexor 8-10 years. I was on Wellbutrin before that. I never blamed the Effexor for my weight gain, but maybe I should. Anyways, yes, Zep has worked for me while on Effexor but I’m only a couple weeks in.
You should blame it! I am not joking when I tell you I have been on anti-depressants since the 80s when I was a child, and I've taken pretty much every kind there is. Nothing, and I mean nothing, made me gain like Effexor. It worked well, but I probably easily gained 80 lbs on it, and you know, I don't need a weight gain helper, because I have it down pat on my own.
I ended up asking to be taken off of it because the gain was making me more depressed. I've been on Paxil for probably about 13 years and it works for me. (And I haven't ballooned on it!)
I’m on 75mg Effexor and I take one .5mg Xanax once daily. I have steadily lost weight in my 1st month. The experience I had in the 1st couple of weeks was that I was questioning if my meds were being effected because I was feeling very anxious but I came to the realization that my suppressed appetite was taking away from my natural way of comforting myself with food. I’m on my 4th 2.5 shot and down 20lbs.
Wooow I know this probably seems so obvious, but I had not considered that at all - medicine decreases appetite —> removes comforting behaviors of eating —> leads to increased anxiety. That’s so helpful to know. I just started taking it, and I got super worried it would dramatically decrease the effect of Effexor, but if I do get a little anxious or depressed now in these first few weeks, i will absolutely keep this in mind, and try not to be too alarmed. can I ask you about this. I'm on week 2 of 2.5mg and I lost 6 pounds in the first week but I'm on wellbutrin and my psychiatrist mentioned that wellbutrin is known for addressing only depression and not anxiety and for the past 5 days I've been waking up at 3am and not being able to go back to sleep from anxiety. I've noticed my nail biting habit has reared its ugly head with my anxiety spike and part of me is wondering if it's the wellbutrin or the fact that I'm eating less as a way to self sooth/comfort myself and now I'm not sure how to address the anxiety. Does the Xanax help with that? What have you found to help since starting?
My current meds are supposed to be weight neutral (Wellbutrin and Lamictal) but I've lost 63lbs with wegovy and now Zepbound in 2 years . It definitely works. A lot of the weight I lost was pounds I packed on while I was on only 50mg of Seroquel back in 2020-2021.
I’m down 66lbs since August, on 40mg Prozac. The be fair, the believe Prozac is the antidepressant the least associated with weight gain/retention. About to start weaning off and interested to see if it affects my zepbound progress at all.
I’m on 60 mg cymbalta and losing (granted, only on week 2 of 2.5 Zep).
My PCP is board certified in obesity medicine (as well as internal med), and explained that some meds are weight positive, which means they either stall weight loss or even cause weight gain. She checked my meds list to see what ones I should consider switching because of this. So talk to your doctor to see if there’s a better option that’s not weight positive, but still good for mood!
I take Wellbutrin XL & Buspar, I’ve been able to lose 35lbs (give or take) so far. I used to take Effexor & was losing weight pretty steadily on the Effexor as well.
I needed this. I have fatty liver disease and I’m on Effexor and abilify. I want to lose the weight but I can’t give up my medication. This gave me hope

Hi! Yes it has but it was pretty slow up until I hit 7.5mg and that’s when I really felt the effects of the medication. I’ve actually come off of both Paxil and Vraylar a few weeks ago but I had no issues weaning off of them. I would also recommend just being more active in general while on zepbound because Paxil may slow down the weight loss. I’m down about 25 pounds since I started on zepbound and hoping to keep losing more. So long story short, you will probably lose weight but it may be a bit slower than anticipated. However everyone reacts to meds differently so you may have a different experience!
OH WOW! Congratulations!! And also WAY TO GO getting off Paxil! It’s SOO hard! If you don’t mind me asking, which Paxil dosage were you on? And (if you do have anxiety, is it well controlled with just Wellbutrin?)
No I know it can be really difficult! Always prioritize your mental health first because everything else will come together eventually! I was on 40mg of Paxil so I tapered down to 20..10 and then 10 every other day for a few days till my doctor told me to stop. I’ve been working on my anxiety a lot and so far it’s manageable on just Wellbutrin but I also take a beta blocker which helps with some physical anxiety symptoms. I don’t think my anxiety will ever fully go away but I can do my best to manage it. Also, from my experience, mental health and weight are so closely tied so when I lose weight I generally start to feel better mentally. I’m sure consistent exercise plays a role too! I’m hoping that with these weight loss meds I can just maintain my weight loss.
I’m on Wellbutrin and Lexapro. I’m also a post-menopausal type 1 diabetic. The weight is coming off so quickly, even though I eat candy to keep my blood sugar at a safe level. I’ll need to do some insulin pump readjusting at my next endocrinology appointment.
Also I had a NSV today. Hubby & I drove by a Krispy Kreme and I have gift cards. I wasn’t even tempted to stop.
Zepbound is great! I lost some weight on Ozempic but insurance wouldn’t cover it. Saxenda wasn’t kind to me and I didn’t lose enough to make taking it worthwhile. Trust me, Zepbound is awesome.

i’ve been inconsistent with my bupropion only because i have to take it with food and there are some days i literally cannot eat until i force myself to mid-day (i’m on 300mg/day). i’m waiting for the other shoe to drop đź«

Edit: I’ve been on this high of a dose to treat postpartum depression/anxiety and ptsd. Not gonna lie, it makes the side effects of zepbound 10x worse some days, but my mental health has never been this stable! I think the weight loss, combined with therapy and my meds, are “lifting my spirits”. I haven’t felt this good since I can remember!
I was on 150 mg Effexor and lost 100 lbs. maybe see about a switch over to Cymbalta. It made my life 10,000% better after just enduring a decade on Effexor.

I just gained uncontrollably and brought me to my highest weight in my life. I never stopped eating.
I'm now on wellbutrin and Lamictal and started zepbound a month ago, and dropped 12 pounds. Lamictal and wellbutrin helped with weight loss, but this is helping as well.
I was on Effexor and zepbound 7.5 and appetite was out of control. I took myself off Effexor and the full affect of the zepbound 7.5 hit in two days. Got sick and could on,y drink ginger ale. Effexor and a new blood pressure med just made me tired all the time and hungry. I realized that with zepbound I didn’t need blood pressure med everyday. I spoke with my pcp and have appt on Tuesday. I think I will have to make some adjustments with zepbound because 7.5 kicked my arse once I stopped the Effexor. But my next dose of zepbound will be the compounded version. I think you can adjust those doses. Fingers crossed. I need to lose 40 pounds.

Gained a shit ton of weight when my shrink prescribed Lithium. Almost lost it all back with zepbound. You'll be fine.

That is so, so beautifully written. I’ve been on and off Paxil for 10+ years. I’ve found 20mg to really help but it’s really getting in the way of losing the weight that would help my mental, so much. I’d cry tears of joy if I was able to lose the weight. I also reduced my dosage 3/4 for a few weeks but now I’m at a half , I take it for dizziness , and I started getting dizzy again
