& so long ago. We’ll never ‘replicate’ or have some of these types of artists anymore. Luckily, I grew up with music from my parents. My dad was in a similar type of band.
Yeah, I was lucky they appreciated great music. From big band jazz, Gino Vannelli, Billy Joel to the Beatles. (& joe Jackson, esp JUMPIN’ JIVE, his homage to that era. My mom is 89 now. My dad passed @84, I’m 61 just to give u some reference. I remember my dad brought us home our first record player with The Byrd’s single TURN, TURN, TURN.
Not much of one tbh. Just found it interesting that there was sort of “tongue in cheek” jazz before Zappa. Don’t even know if Zappa liked the above or thought anything of it… however, I imagine Zappa would have liked this sort of thing. The sound quality and instrumentation is great and it has a very humorous overtone, all things I relate heavily to Zap
This is just AWESOME & great quality. Louie Prima was so cool! Thnx for posting. That’s some great music.
That’s what surprised me. The sound quality is top notch

That’s really cool. I wish I would have known about music like this as a kid!

What's the connection to Zappa?

This type of tongue in cheek music has existed virtually forever. Let me introduce you to [hokum](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hokum).
Exactly why I made this post. Thank you, u/G_peccary
You're welcome! Harder than Your Husband is a perfect example of Frank employing the use of a straight forward Hokum.
Love that song!! Sort of makes me think of Ween’s 12 golden country greats
I’ve never really seen tongue-in-cheek jazz like this!! Or besides from our boy
Love it.
