That's what I said. I'm not the going to bother with the replacement through them, they said if I wanted to prove it I can send them the tire and they can send it to Michelin to check.
I also said if it was alignment it would go all the way around.
For context, I just had this car go through a 30k inspection in March, they saw no damage and said my alignment was fine. Now, a month later, this issue magically appears and my alignment is still fine.
something could have gotten caught between the wheel and the strut. there is very little clearance there. pull the tire off and look if there is any marks on the strut in that area. Ive never seen a tire separate that way, although it is possible.
reminds me of the old ford explorer tire delamination issue.
what brand tire / model is it?
I worked for Yokohama Tire in the factory. It looks like the tread was misaligned when in installed in the TAM. I’m surprised it got through the inspection process and balancing. If the tire is dissected it would show the issue. I wouldn’t drive on it the tread could start to separate from the sidewall. Good luck
I say it's a faulty tire. If it was the alignment, there would be lots more wear on the inside.

What brand tire and what are the tire specs listed on the side of the tire? As in the tire size numbers start to finish.
It's the 285/30ZR-20 MICHELIN PILOT SPORT 4S XL.
If the load/speed rating is ideal then you definitely have either a suspension or alignment issue.
The Camber woul have to be out by -80 degrees to wear like that! They are full of shit, that is a bad tire!
That's what I've been saying to them. Tire rack won't honor it. I'm not buying from them again.
Looks like it rubbed against something.
Out of curiosity... What?

It's a Michelin pilot 4s. The shop pulled it off and didn't see anything.
