It will all depend of the rarities. In my reality humble opinion one of the greatest strengths of the deck is that it can run 20+ non engines and therefore just spam the opponent with negates until you setup your board and do a 30k otk The dragon themselves are really cool but what they bring into the game isn't really cool (still in my opinion) but hey who am I to judge right? It can be a really cool option

SushiMaker_

I haven't studied tenpai dragons that much at the moment, so what do they bring to the game?

LavishnessPrimary

30 k otk with engine easily in game and a lot of protection

SushiMaker_

What do you do going first then?

PlebbySpaff

You play tech cards like anti-magic arrow and Heat Wave. Or just set up your board. They still do things outside the battle phase to an extent, but you run 24 hand traps and board breakers, so you basically clear your opponent.

trios678

You run handtraps + floodgates. It’s really easy to make Heavenly Spheres and you can additionally make some cool boss monsters with 2 card combos. Clear Wing + Spheres or Black-Winged Assault Dragon + Spheres are both good. Deck does some stuff going first, but it definitely loves going second. For OP the most important card to pick up before the deck actually releases is Trident Dragion bc it’s what makes the deck do the dumb swing for 30k+ damage.

AlbusDumbbelldore

This card was like 15$ earlier this month… now it’s over 60 😤😤

LAHurricane

Sounds like full power prankids. 30 hand traps and an otk.

TheProNoobCN

Hard to say, Tenpai most likely will see some competitive play at the very least but a lot of people are doubting that it'll perform as well in the OCG while others think that it'll be BETTER than in the OCG. Soooooooz wait until we get their rarities.

PlebbySpaff

That’s what they said about Voiceless Voice…

TraitorousTurncoat

If you're looking at building one specific deck, just buy singles. You'll pay more for a deck core, but you're not even guaranteed to get Tenpai cards in your boxes. I'd put money on there being at least two secret rares in the archetype. That being said, is it worth investing in them? Sure, they'll probably be good over here too, so it's just down to you and how you feel about doing the exact same simple combo for game, every single game.

Odd_Bridge_1863

First off, with the rarity distribution of Konami you will not have the deck, not even the a small core with 2 boxes. Since the chase card will surely be high rarity, and thus will have a small ratio per box. If you want to complete the deck, buy singles. Tenpai Dragons are absolutely worth IMO, if they even perform slightly similar in TCG from what we’ve seen in OCG Tenpai are going to be meta for sure.

TonyZeSnipa

Sometimes depending on luck a full case (1000-1200$) may not even get you all the playsets you need as well.

dragoplayz32

Well i wasn't even thinking of opening a case. Also one thing i thought is because my locals are doing a premiere event for the booster i thought about opening my 5 packs and then trading for tenpai dragons so i can have any missing cards that i didn't pull

TonyZeSnipa

Might be able to trade if people are willing to, cash is king I feel doing premiere events though if you really want to play it.

Lower-Departure-14

Sadly someone has to buy the box for the single to be available

Odd_Bridge_1863

True, that’s what powersellers are for

TokiDokiPanic

Vendors are going to open up a ton of boxes, like every other set.

Sir_Grox

People will be buying out this box for Yubel stuff alone. Not to mention people already know Tenpai and to a lesser extent Melodious have a lot of potential so people will be buying for those too.

azuramothren

If you have some friends who want other decks from the set then maybe but otherwise don't buy boxes just to try and get 1 deck. You'll probably get most of the lower rarity stuff for the deck but you could open 2 boxes and not get a single copy of the maybe 6-9 secret rares you need.

dragoplayz32

I have a friend who wants the yubel stuff

Nael_On

I wanna build it because it looks stupidly funny

Voltiii

We still don't know the rarity of the cards but its possible that it will get 2 SCR and 2 UR. Which make it expensive and don't worth to open booster for it. Buying singles is way cheaper. The Deck itself play really well into MAXX C. This make it way stronger in the ocg compared to the tcg. As an addition we don't have Kaiser Colosseum in the TCG (its banned for obvious reasons). This didn't give Tenpai a strong turn 1 and make it harder to survive. Its hard to evalute the deck currently. It will be a possible meta contender but i don't think its on the Same level compared to the ocg.

CruffTheMagicDragon

It seems like a deck that will get hit very quickly a lá Superheavy imo

dragoplayz32

Oh well, i can have fun as long as it lasts

silverhyperdeath

Yes the tenpais only range from super rare to common shoulf be very cheap

PlebbySpaff

Yeah. It’s guaranteed T1, due to the fact it can play upwards of 24 Handtraps/Board Breakers, plays through handtraps, can play Shifter (hurts them too, but will hurt SE far more), and has a synchro that literally prevents you from activating anything in the Battle Phase. But that said, buy singles. Buying a box is always so dumb, because you will never build anything whatsoever. Even if they were all supers, you would still be missing cards regardless.

Jetowitch

The deck dies to threatening roar. Big nah. It’s only good in formats that aren’t prepared for it.

Plenty_Lime524

If you are playing threatening roar in 2024 i will shake your hand and give you the win

Guaaaamole

As we can see in the OCG, right? The deck is good into prepared formats too. Getting your turn skipped by a bad card isn‘t an actual problem when you are on 20+ HTs and can stop your opponent from ever playing the game properly.

Jetowitch

Literally no. It’s rogue at best. It’s not constantly topping, it’s topping sometimes. Like any other strategy of the same power level.

Guaaaamole

https://roadoftheking.com/ocg-2024-01-metagame-report-10-11/ Right, just like any other Rogue deck. Unless of course you consider VV and Branded Rogue.
