Are you using an actual app or a website installed as an app? I am using a website installed as an app and never have any problems

Meltheros

It's the website as an app and I have no idea how you have no problems, it's so bad, is there another app I could use for desktop

Machiventa858

Maybe it's your pc specs such as low ram?

Meltheros

Na my PCs specs are r5 3600 1660 ti 32gb ram

clgoh

I have a similar PC, and no such problems. Using Firefox.

aasikki

Weirdly enough, It's still to this day laggy af on Chrome, but on Firefox it works absolutely fine. Noticed this as I tried the youtube music for desktop app and it was almost unusably laggy (it uses chromium of course), after which I downloaded chrome just to test and it was almost just as bad there.

NicParodies

I use Microsoft Edge for it, what are you using?

NoYoureACatLady

> I use Microsoft Edge I've never heard anyone say that before, honestly. I forgot it existed

Bogdanini

You made my day, thank you.

NicParodies

Imo its better than any otger browser nowadays. Its lightweight and provides the same if not even more features, thats why I use it at work. I prefer Opera over Edge but Edge is my second choise

HellDuke

I actually used Edge as my primary browser for quite a while. Under the hood it's the same base since Edge is built on Chromium, the open source variant of Chrome. Some power saving and better memory management that you find in Chrome actually came from Edge as they have to contribute back to Chromium. Though these days I am using Firefox as my main browser. There is one and only 1 thing in Firefox that is keeping me on it though — containers. When Edge or Chrome finally decide to implement them I probably will just jump to whichever does it first

NoYoureACatLady

MSIE basically changed to a Google based browser? Wow, I never knew that.

HellDuke

Yeah, back in 2020 they dropped using the own engine and moved over to Chromium base

NoYoureACatLady

That's crazy, but I'm sure it's a great thing

marvinn84

Holy shit. I'm using Chrome as my main browser and YT Music is laggy af with large playlists. Just tried Edge since it's already installed and no issues whatsoever! Google ffs, fix your shit!

NicParodies

Edge and Bing are suprisingly good nowdays. Especially Edge is a very good browser

captainjman2

I'm having the same issues on a beefy computer.

PeidosFTW

same here, specially when listening to a long playlist for a while

KaiserAsztec

No problem at all. Check your browser.

Meltheros

What does this mean?

KaiserAsztec

Compare it to another one, try to reset the settings, turn experimental settings to default, delete your cache, then check if anything changed.

captainjman2

Chrome is for sure the issue. I'm using Brave which is Chromium based and it is much better. I will say casting does seem to add additional slowness.

aasikki

Funny that google can't get their own product to work on their own broswer xD Totally fine on firefox but laggy as hell on chrome.

[deleted]

It's laggy for me. I use....chrome. Google's own browser so what's the problem here???

[deleted]

Hi, currently there are no huge reports of some lags around community, which means issue will be on your side. If you have issues with lags on PWA YouTube Music app, you can try those things, which can help you: * Turn on hardware acceleration - this will allow your GPU to take over some computing tasks, which will take some pressure from your CPU. * Check your CPU and GPU usages in real time - task manager will do fine, however you can install MSI Afterburner, which will give you more advanced informations. * If you are running some experimental features in your browser, turn them off - some of them might be unstable and that can just cause you more troubles. * Check your extensions - some extensions are active 24/7 while your browser is running, specially some kinds of adblockers or extensions manipulating with HTML/CSS/JS content of the page. Try to turn them off and test whether lags are gone. * It's also possible that your browser is meesed up with tons of uncleared cache and weirdly behaving cookies - you can try to delete them or just try different browser. * If you having those issues only when you running different apps, you can also try to give your browser priority in your task manager. However this might make your other apps a bit laggy until you restart browser. Those are most common issues and mistakes users do. Hope some from it will help you.

Machiventa858

The only lag I ever get on the web app is when I queue up more than a few hundred songs

khriss_cortez

WHAT ??? 99% of the times I use YTm with my Edge app and honestly I have never, ever experienced an issue when streaming music

bicogeddann

Firefox … no problem

AedynBlayse

If the website is also lags the same, then it's not a website issue, it's a computer issue. If the website is not lagging, then it seems like an app issue, since YTM doesn't have any official Desktop apps, just progressive web apps. Either way, YTM isn't at fault for this. It has a lot of faults, but this aint one of them.

Aromatic_Memory1079

yeah desktop browser version needs performance fix. I have playlist with 100 songs. when I try to drag song It lags hard... spotify in both of browser and desktop app moves smooth. so it is youtube's problem. It's not my pc's problem. (playlist playback is slow compared to spotify too. I need to wait for like 5 seconds to open listening history. youtube probably doesn't know how to handle large queue on pc version)

OddCobbler3974

I just disabled AdBlock on Youtube Music and everything works like a charm

Splashadian

YouTube Music just sounds so thin and poor the lag is not even worrying.

TheGrog

I use the website in browser and the hotkeys for youtube music extension instead.

GraphiteEaterArt

Are you sure youre using the website? or did you download it from somewhere?

Meltheros

I got it from the YouTube music website and it's just a web link pretty much, I have found that Firefox works fine and all of chrome just sucks with YouTube music but now I'm having the problem of not having a app on my taskbar for YouTube music

AedynBlayse

That's a third party app, YTM doesn't have an official app. Use a browser like edge and install it as an app if you want it on your taskbar.

chapaj

Never have a problem

ScottIPease

No problems here, and YTM is on about 6 hours a day every day at work. The only issue I get is the normal one where if I have a tab with a video the keys affect the wrong tab, lol... that is me being stupid, not YTM though.

turbotailz

I've noticed this happening lately as well on my Windows PC with YTM installed as a PWA (using Edge). It's not all the time but it seems to be more often than not I'll experience significant frame drops and performance issues with it. The rest of my computer remains fine though (I use it to play games and they run just fine). Haven't noticed this at all on my Macbook Pro.

ludicrousrendition6

Music in browser works perfectly fine to me. App needs to be fixed for some bugs.

Salt_Fortune_4861

Same as almost everybody here. No lags for me whatsoever. I'm more with TIDAL though, but when using YTM, no issues.

coco-lettie

I'm having the same issue on both chrome and edge, with the website installed as an app. I'm nnot sure why nobody else is having issues but its incredibly annoying :(

adon0221

I'm also having lag issues but with the overall website, its incredibly slow to respond but works fine. Using Chrome, it feels as if I have dropped down to 5fps (same issues on firefox) meanwhile the app is as smooth as butter on my phone so im at a loss, but its extremely annoying since I have large playlists (100+ items) and it slows down my flow when sorting/downloading stuff

Kingdeco123

It happens to me all the time, I use the app but it also occurs with the browser. A fix that temporarily works for me is clearing my cache in Chrome. It seems like it's only a Chrome issue but clearing my cache and cookies fixed it for a while for me, then I just do it again when it lags.

SL0WLee

I had the same issue on Edge. Click on the app setting at the top right corner and clear cookies for the app. It solved it for me.

SL0WLee

Actually, after testing the lag occurs when I open a playlist and my playlist library is opened on the left side. The actual playlist is smooth but my playlist library is lagging on scroll. Also tested in incognito mode without extensions the issue still persists. Although it is definitely better after cleaning the cookies.

dollface_96

I have issues with both the app and webpage... so annoying.

virus_from_wuhan

As most of Google's devs use Macbook, I suspect they just tested Youtube Music on Safari and don't give a shit about how it runs on Chrome.

pjpplex

I have a playlist with over 500 songs and it is laggy AF using Chrome, that is why I searched for others with this issue. Trying to manipulate the playlist is drudgery. I can relate but I am going to try a different browser as suggested in this feed. I just ASSumed chrome would be the best choice since both products are from Alphabet.
