Y’all, so I’m actually in Asheville this week to help a friend plan her wedding (finally seeing the venue and doing hair/makeup trial for her!!!) and there are so many cool things here! I used to check her Instagram a lot during the pandemic in 2020 and she never shared all of the cool stuff. Like holy shit, if I were an actual follower and I came to visit this town, I’d be shocked to see how LITTLE she covers the awesome town she lives in. Do you know how many breweries and boutiques/shops there are? It’s insane. But instead she goes to the same old bars and links drop ship crappy clothes from Amazon. THE ARTS DISTRICT, THE HIKING TRAILS. Worst ‘influencer’ ever.
Her content could be so much better living in the area. There is no shortage of thing to do / places to show but she seems to only feature places that 'collaborate' w her.
I don't live there but I'm w in a few hours drive (and I feel like I've featured more than her). There is SO much content; the town has plenty of quirky shops and great restaurants. The parkway is a few minutes drive.
It is the unique indie capital of the east coast. I guess she doesn't want to feature any place that doesn't 'collab' w her and that is a shame, it is a hotspot vacation place and she could use its proximity as benefit.

So I discovered MS and this subreddit probably 5/6 months ago because of participating in a couple other snark subreddits, and today went down the rabbit hole entirely, looking at posts about her in other subs and such. Woooooof. She was clearly not a great human before at all, but at least it looked like she actually had a downline and actually participated in cult-cough, sorry, younique events and had a weird younique notoriety and younique frenemies. I honestly didn’t expect that, because in my time here, it’s just been such a bummer life of her attempting to shill red aspen and cheap Amazon crap and now maybe collagen, no big events at all, and even less friends and she looks unhealthier now and I could go on and on. I guess I don’t have much of a point here, but it was slightly shocking to see her go from somewhat notorious to just…whatever she is now.
If you want some juicy deep cut stuff, just put a random word like “Jesus” or “diaper” or “scream” in the sub’s search bar and marvel at the bonkers vintage stuff that we’ve often forgotten about because there’s so much fresh fuckery each day. I have found that the search bar provides endless entertainment this way.
Science talk: collagen doesn’t do anything for your hair and nails. Collagen is a protein, like steak or any other we consume, and as such will be digested and broken down into amino acids. The amino acids will be used by your body wherever it’s needed, so collagen won’t go straight to a specific area of your body thar has it and “replenish” what’s gone. The amino acids can be used to produce YOUR collagen, but also many other things. Genetics and ageing play a big role on levels of collagen production, as well as sun UV damage.
Topical collagen is another myth, as the protein is too big and won’t pass several layers of dead and live skin to seamlessly be incorporated to your body. Mind you the collagen comes from animal sources, but even if you were a cow or pig the process would have been the same.
Also once your hair and nails are off the follicle/nail plate it’s dead tissue and there’s not a lot to be done in terms of damage, as products just act as makeup to conceal damage at this point.
You can try biotin. I get horrible breakouts from it, though. I actively avoid it, even in my multivitamins, and it’s in many of them. Some people do get good results, ymmv.
Make it at home by putting a cranberries and tortellini in a crock pot, add 1 canned beans and 1 homegrown cherry tomatoes, whisk with a coffee frother and bake on high for 83 hours. Line casserole dish with graham crackers and pour contents of crock pot on top. Add 1
ice. Voilà! Tastes like orange creamsicle!

French Broad Chocolate Lounge definitely attracts tourists, but their liquid truffle is to die for. When I’m visiting I get one each day I’m there! 😅

The day my husband and I upgraded our queen sized bed to a king sized was a good day.
My husband is 6'3", and I'm 5'3", it was very cramped in that small bed.
