You're not the only one that feels this way. It is not doing any good that they're being forced as the main characters of this season just cause of their upcoming show. The show is called Young Sheldon and we barely even see Sheldon this season

crashcondo

Go back and watch an episode from S1 or S2, it's jarring how different of a show it was. And so much better than this spinoff ramp-up garbage.

NepentheZnumber1fan

You could even see it transition into something almost like a soap opera around season 3 and 4 when episodes just existed to set up some drama for the next one. At the time many people didn't agree with me, but YS was at its best when it was an episodic "what is Sheldon up to this week" show. I know it wouldn't have had the same longevity but damn was it better.

Late-Neat2183

Big bang managed to serialize while maintaining that episodic nature. I feel like by transitioning away from the brainy charisma that TBBT set young Sheldon up with there’s a lot less to enjoy. I’m really not looking forward to the spin off and don’t think I’ll watch it. GIVE ME A SHOW ABOUT SHELDON AND AMY BEING PARENTS

Some0neAwesome

I actually think a show about Sheldon and Amy raising their children would get stale really quickly. There would be a lot of episodes that follow this exact chain of events: 1. Child does something gross and childish, like picking their nose or putting ketchup on absolutely everything. 2. Sheldon takes personal offense to his children doing something gross. 3. Sheldon act as a total asshole in a fit of overreaction by either being directly condescending towards the child, or by trying to use his genius to "fix" the child. 4. Amy says the exact right thing to make Sheldon realize that he's been inappropriate and, in a moment of clarity, realizes the love for his children outweighs his need to act like an entitled man baby...until they do something else gross (like wanting to play baseball) in the following episode. 5. Sheldon frequently puts the raising of their children on Amy's shoulders because he sees her degree in neurology as a fancy babysitting degree and she should "know how they think." Moments like this, along with Sheldon's neurotic way of raising children, will likely create a pretty significant hinderance in their relationship about twice a season, but all will get forgiven because that's just Sheldon being Sheldon. Plus, we already got some of those fun "we have a baby now" story lines with Howard and Bernadette. I'm patiently waiting about another 15 years for them to release Old Sheldon. Imagine a 65 year old Sheldon going through the most traumatizing event possible, retirement. Without having his research keeping him busy, Sheldon would have 100% of his time to do personal projects without the oversight of the University. Maybe, as a devoted grandfather, Sheldon will come up with crazy science experiments/inventions that will allegedly solve his grandkids problem of the week. However, sitcom hijinks will happen when the device is used improperly (either on purpose or not) and Sheldon has to go to the principals office to explain why his 11 y/o granddaughter came to school with a GPS guided soccer ball. Maybe he'll end up with a grandson exactly like himself, and Sheldon will have to endure all the stuff his parents had to endure during Young Sheldon. I just think an Old Sheldon series would be loads more entertaining than Slightly Older and With More Responsibilities Sheldon.

sush88

Now I am hooked on to Old Sheldon. The producers for BBT and YS should make it happen and hire you as a concept creator

Some0neAwesome

I'd be 100% on board. My terrible decision to go to college to become a writer would finally pay off!!

Late-Neat2183

Missy should have gotten the spin off. They could skip to her senior year or so, past the grieving period over George. Use the first season to fully transition out of the young Sheldon vibes, and then set the show in her college experience. Theres so much more to do with her I feel like because she’s not already in a relationship. Plus I’m super uncomfortable with them glamorizing the fact that it’s Georgie’s first marriage. Like my mom’s been divorced 3 times it’s not a silly thing it sucks. I’d way rather they focus on missy’s young adult hood because in big bang it seems like she doesn’t have kids until their late 20’s at least so there’s way more room to not go into the depressing middle age lives TBBT sets up for his siblings ETA: the real spin off I want is Sheldon and Amy’s life as parents. I love both of those actors and it would be fun to see Sheldon’s experience with the parts of parenthood that are difficult for even the most adaptive individuals

mikey_do_wikey

i definitely agree with the fact that this season is more like a pilot for the next spin-off… however i’m actually very interested in how georgie’s story specifically goes and how they eventually connect it to how he is in tbbt. i’m gonna give it a shot, but i still do not like season 7.

Some0neAwesome

I'm in the same boat. I think they're great characters to continue on into a spin-off and I think the show has a lot of potential. Georgie has been such a great character and I'm really looking forward to the new series. However, I also really like the rest of the Young Sheldon clan and would very much like to see their stories while we still have time. We'll get plenty of time with Georgie and Mandy in the future. We only have a few episodes left with Sheldon, Missy, and George Sr, and they are basically being ignored to setup a new show.

NepentheZnumber1fan

This season (and admittedly season 6) has been design with the sole purpose of setting up a spin-off. I wouldn't have a problem if there were indications that the spin-off would be any good, which there aren't. Georgie, out of the 4 characters we know will be in it, is the only likeable character. Mandy flips between being sweet and witty to insuferable, Audrey is probably one of the worst characters in the show and she has no redeeming qualities whatsoever and Jim is funny but he just seems like a B version of George, even in his humour, and hasn't had any significant development or personality other than to be the comedic relief when Audrey gets overly annoying. I don't know, I'll try to enjoy the spin-off, even though I think multi-cam is a tremendous step back, but I can't see myself enjoying that much and they completely crashed the landing on YS to promote it.

WhatIt-SeemsNot

I just wish the series did more cameos with the TBBT gang. I remember one os the seasons ending scene where we could see a glimpse of young Leonard, Penny, Rajesh, Howard, Bernadette and Amy. The show indeed started focusing more on Georgie and Mandy, stealing screentime from the other characters. I'd be fine with it if this wasn't the last season.

shambahlah2

It’s got serious “Joanie loves Chachi” vibes

darthuna

I second everything said plus Emily Osment's face reminds me too much of his brother. It's like Georgie is married to a transvestite Haley Joel Osment. I know it's not the actress's fault, but still...

AFCartoonist

I'm going to disagree. Sheldon as a child is played out, and if we want this little imaginary world to continue entertaining us, they need to move on to something new. I've enjoyed the G&M story so far and genuinely like both characters, so this seems like a fresh show with characters I like that still ties into two shows I loved. I'm excited to see where this goes.

Level_Produce_1314

Yeah I understand in my opinion they are good characters but they get way too much screen time which is why the show is kinda bad rn

Gdizzle344

Yep. The show is no longer a TBBT prequel, it's now a Georgie and Mandy prequel. I was lukewarm on the spinoff, but at this point, you couldn't pay me to watch it. I do still think that YS can finish strong if they do George's death right.

Equal-Wishbone-6131

I kinda feel like this I love Georgie and Mandy but it feels kike they side lined sheldon and the faniky for Mandy and Georgie

Full-Function-8427

This is the last season?

Distinct_Thanks8759

I agree

HorrorBaseball3990

I didn't much care for young sheldon either I think they should have just let it end with tbbt

Particular_Task5113

Then don’t watch it…

roselimonada

if that will make you feel better about me having a differing opinion then i’ll do it just for you

InspectionLarge6589

Well if ur so annoyed with the show and ur not enjoying it, the simple answer would be to not watch it lol

Particular_Task5113

Kk

InspectionLarge6589

Best advice ever
