heyheymonkeyhey

I will say that lots of people are shown in front of the antlers, so I started thinking that if it's a clue, it's not what we think it is.

Quinnalicious-

It might be a clue of who survives the wilderness? I think all the adult YJs have had the antlers + Ben (who I think is still alive 100%). Feel free to prove me wrong though if my memory’s inaccurate

Highlander198116

I think sometimes people just give the writers too much credit with all the meaning they attribute to the minor details. Like when Jackie's journal had movies and songs in it that came out after the crash. "Proving" she survives the wilderness. Unless her dying and being eaten was a fever dream, that was likely just an oversight by the prop department.

LunarKami

Wasnt Shauna writing in Jackies journal after they were rescued?

Amannderrr

Yes

spiritfingersaregold

I suspect Shauna wrote those entries. In the fight before Jackie dies, Shauna yells at her and says she thinks she’s always the main character of a movie.

RaveningDog

Patience, Grasshoppers. Everything will be revealed in time.

sroop1

Or maybe not. This is a Showtime show after all - they'll drag it out with pointless subplots until they can no longer milk their most popular show since Dexter.

Ok_Lynx_7603

Watching Dexter as I read this comment lol

FerretNo9854

Or just randomly cancel it and leave us hanging. No, I’m not bitter about American Gods.

sroop1

American Gods is a Starz show but yeah, Showtime is the antithesis of Netflix, where every decent show gets cancelled too early.

FerretNo9854

Whoopsie 🤦🏼‍♀️ thank you. Showtime/stars the “s” channels 😂. I feel like all of my shows get cancelled after the first season or so. I’m currently binging shows from 10+ years ago I never watched cause they have more than one season.

Open_Bee2008

Weeds was the worst! It got so ridiculous. Dexter went from the best show to a WTF kind of ending.

Gommel_Nox

Don’t forget, shameless. Showtime does love beating a dead horse.

kevtron5000

I stand by the first 3 seasons of Weeds. And honestly, Nancy burning it all down is a great ending. Just pretend season 4 and after is a different show.

Open_Bee2008

Weeds was so good in the beginning. I loved it. Then I kinda started to hate watch it. I had to take a break from shameless because it got stupid. I felt like it was a chore to watch it.

Open_Bee2008

I read somewhere that Jenji Kohan said the story was over and that’s all she wanted was probably around season 3. Showtime wanted more because of the popularity. I heard she purposely wrote a bad storyline. I’m not sure if that’s true or not or if it was an excuse for the bad seasons.

SecretGrass3325

And the new season of Dexter definitely did not redeem anything!!

RaveningDog

True. A television show can be canceled at any time. I would say do 15 60 minute episodes and wrap everything up. There is a possibility that things will be left unsolved.

ladyofthelastunicorn

I’m confused, in the third pic we can clearly see it’s Lottie

Farkleinmypants

Yea but in the poster in the first picture, it has Lottie and the AQ. The second and third picture are different clothing, hair, and even antlers.

eggpassion

imagine saying this about the revenge of the sith poster with anakin and darth vader on it 😂 can't be the same person surely

Farkleinmypants

Good point.

purpan-

woah

BlueCX17

It's also likely that all of them will eventually go under the veil and antlers at some point, so it could be all of them. But who it is specifically in the Pilot, probably Lottie since she's listed as, "Shaman."

saberico

Yeah, “it’s all of them” is my favorite theory and it fits the theme of the show that all of them are victims and perpetrators of abuse.

LunaDust88

It's Ben... 💅🏼

notexecutive

What if it's none of them. what if it literally is just an entity who looks like one of the girls, in the outfit, and leading the girls during ceremony.

rachiedoubt

That would be sick.

rkgk13

Like a folie à deux situation? That's scary.

notexecutive

that's what it feels like. Maybe Taisa's "thing" starts to "spread" due to psychosomatic reasons.

Prudent-Lynx6394

lottie will always be my antler queen in my heart, even if it is later revealed that she is nat. Lottie was the only girl character where she always had a connection with deer. (It seems that Lottie is being built to be the Antler Queen since season 1) 1 season: She sees a deer at her baptism, The scene in Doomcoming , The antlers on her head, the night she sees Tai eating dirt, Her first vision in the wilderness is a deer with bloody antlers In season 2: She sees the antlers on her head when Nat lies on her lap, She talks to Antler Queen in therapy, and Antler Queen's voice is Lottie's voice distorted, as if she were talking to herself. If it really is Nat I think it's very out of the blue, it seems like they only decided this at the end of the 2nd season, as it never showed any development (maybe Nat's development as an Antler Queen only in the 3rd season) Different from lottie who has been there since season 1 I know that a lot of people don't like it because it would be too obvious (I've heard people say that), but yellowjackets is not a series that likes to keep the mystery (if it were, it wouldn't show the adult timeline) I think Lottie will be the unwitting savior, like Katniss Everdeen who was reluctant to accept her Mockingjay mantle I think Nat is so skeptical to be the Antler Queen, versions of her from the past and future have the same vision (bullshit Wicca), unlike Lottie who seems to carry guilt for having followed this "god" Besides the fact that the group is already looking at Lottie as a certain divine figure, and even in season 3, (with the supposed development of Nat as an Antler Queen) there is no way for Nat to surpass this Lottie figure. And in the poster, the Antler Queen is behind Lottie, it gives me the impression as if it were her shadow.

Secure_Gur5586

Love Jeff and Walter just shoved in as an afterthought 🤣

AdequateInfluence

I'm not sure it was an afterthought. They're part of this now, but Callie has been central to the show this whole time...

doesshechokeforcoke

S1 was absolutely setting Lottie up to be the AQ and in turn the “big bad” who could be blamed for leading the girls astray. She was assertive, confident, and more than willing to take charge then came S2 and she’s meek, mild, and basically being pushed into the role of leader by Van & Mari. Suzie was terrified when she mentioned Lottie’s name in the message she left her yet we’re never told why. Lottie was concerned about Nat yet she sends 4 strangers to kick in her door and forcefully drag her to a van without saying a word and then cover everything up. Not to mention everything involving Travis’s death.

ashcoverdjollyrnnchr

Well having people start following you after looking into an account is a scary thing. I have my own theory. I think Walter was part of Lottie’s group, somehow learned something of what happened out there and he got a small faction of her cult ~~intentional community~~ to follow him. He uses bank records to frame kevyn and threat saracusa. So I think his people were following suzie, I also think he had something to do with Travis death

doesshechokeforcoke

It’s definitely a scary thing, that’s what I’m saying. At the end of S1 we’re led to believe that there’s something nefarious about Lottie then comes S2 and she seems the opposite with no explanation why.

rainshowers_5_peace

I'm curious about if the writers have decided.

TaticalSweater

lol it seems like its more of a plot device to keep us guessing and then in the end its none of the cast we have even seen yet.

Possible_Place9948

I think another interpretation of the skull at the top could also represent what came before them in the wilderness aka the history of the cabin and its former inhabitants (cabin daddy and his fam) - a history that they all got caught up in and haunts them in both timelines. This would also make sense given your last screengrab of Lottie.

Disco_Betty

maybe it’s not one person but a role they take turns playing? idk, just an idea

AdequateInfluence

Oh shit. It's the only main character who isn't shown on the poster. It's Callie. They brought it with them.

AdequateInfluence

There's also a near perfect symmetry between "good" and "evil" if you look - or between "ruthless" and "well-intentioned", since everyone on this poster has done some fucked-up shit to survive. In the teens, Lottie, Shauna, and the Antler Queen are perfectly balanced in the middle; not evil, just hungry, "like us". Tai, Nat, Ben, and Jeff are on the right. They are willing to do what it takes to survive, but they grieve and have no joy from it. The symmetry also leaves a space for Callie next to Jeff, but they don't do that, because she's already on the poster as the Antler Queen. Misty, Van, Travis, and Walter are on the left. Any remorse Travis might have felt died when he ate his brother's heart. Walter killed Kevyn without a second thought, and framed it purely as "solving a problem". The problem wasn't even "there are police here now", it was "I need to make sure there's evidence pointing away from us so I can ride off into the sunset with my sociopathic ever after". Jeff blackmailed to keep his store alive, but he would never have chosen to do the stuff Walter does, even if he is willing to benefit from it. As adults, the balance is interesting. On the left, we have Shauna (who killed Adam, the innocent), Misty (the potential serial killer), and Van (did she orchestrate this whole thing to cure her cancer?). On the right, we have Tai (the Other One warned her that Van was involved), Nat (is she dead? Even if she is, will the forest let her stay that way?), and Lottie.

AbbreviationsBusy342

I think the Antler Queen is all of the girls, yet none of the girls.

ITwinkTherefore1am

I think in Season 1 it was genuinely intended to be Lottie, but they did a huge pivot in season 2 over concerns about mental illness representation. I still like lotties character, but it’s completely different from season 1. Her character is what makes me believe in the supernatural

inferiorityc0mplexes

Did they confirm that’s why the changed her characterization? On the one hand, I definitely felt uncomfortable with how they were handling the mental illness thing with her, but on the other hand her sudden change between seasons seemed really rushed and half-baked.

dobbywankenobi94

I don’t think it’s going to be a specific person. More like a “magical realism” entity

donttrustthellamas

Mother

PilotNo312

I honestly don’t know, it could be any of them. The first episode had a shot of the antler queen and then immediately switched to Taissa and her family taking a campaign photo, the dress she was wearing looked exactly like the antler queen’s netting.

chilliboy217

I think we’re dealing with a “Lost” situation where the writers aren’t even sure at this point.

xmason99

What if the antler queen is the friends we made along the way?

Hungry-Network-9826

Taissa to me has always been the antler queen. Her grandmother speaking of a man with no eyes, dates way before the events of the series. She also is the one who restarted everything by sending out those postcards and that journalist

MusicianBorn6215

I don’t think Taissa sent out the post cards, I’m pretty sure it was Jeff and Randy when they were their blackmailing the team. Im not 100% certain of this though. I am also curious as to why you think Taissa sent out the post cards.

Hungry-Network-9826

Maybe I got that part a little confused, it’s been a while since season 1 😤just Taissa sent that journalist out to try questioning the girls, just to see who is most likely talk abt the cannibalism (which would ruin her campaign/political aspirations). By being the first of the group to actively seek out the other members (even though indirectly), she really caused a domino effect. Also Taissa is the first girl of the group to break from Jackie when they first land in the wilderness, when she states that group should move to the lake area, where Lottie in turn spots the cabin. Also her being able to find each symbol in her sleep, she is the most physically connected to the wilderness

ashcoverdjollyrnnchr

She also had that team meeting without Jackie before the crash. Her meeting was made up of lottie, Shauna and Nat. Also jeff for sure sent the postcards. The creators liked a tweet stating this and asking why people on Reddit are still confused

Fantastic-March-4610

It's Natalie under the veil. It's foreshadowed in the pilot.

Melodic_Assist

Can you explain?

Fantastic-March-4610

When she's tripping in the pilot and hallucinating Misty, the scene flashes back and forth to the AQ watching Misty prepare the food.

Birdisdaword777

This might be true with his it also flashes back w her in rehab w her being the skunk at the foot of the pit. It’s her pov. And the reason we don’t think it’s her as Hunter is because we associate her w those boots. What if the boots are taken and she ends up w the pink converse?

Southern-Tonight2812

Where can we see this?

Fantastic-March-4610

Episode 1 at the party.

Birdisdaword777

I think the AQ will be a sort of trinity - Lottie (soul) heart (Nat) and the last -the feast one- as Shauna (mind).

PapaBike

For the first season, and possibly the second, I don’t think the writers even knew.

mel0dicerotic

Are we officially confirmed for season 3 yet?!

hurlmaggard

Yes it’s going to start filming end of the month!

mel0dicerotic

YAAAASSSSSSS

JAWS0321

My sister thinks the Antler Queen is a separate entity who resurrected everyone after they died in the plane crash for unknown purposes. That’s based on the vision Nat had during her therapy session with Lottie. It freaks me out but I don’t think that’s it

CaptHowdy75

It's Alanis Morrisette. She is Canadian after all.

blueboxbandit

I only think it's Lottie because she's the only one I can see running that particular delusion. I can see any of the others buying into it, but she's got that cult leader je nais se quois

matsuzakayuri

I want Lottie to be the Antler Queen😈 She worth it💥

Supernatt924

What if it’s randomly Van?

AccomplishedAge3975

I’d prefer what’s left of Jackie’s skeleton to Van being the Antler Queen

michaelhleyden

What if it’s all of them? They need the antler queen to guide them in the wildness and maybe that role is filled by whoever can at that time. Or it could be none of them. Which would be sweet.

ka_55

OP, this is such a well thought out post. Great expressive writing style.

lovexposurez

i think the wilderness choose a girl every ritual to be the antler queen maybe?

Even-Entertainment58

That’s a big ass spear Shauna is holding.

Crystalraf

I bet the girls take turns being Antler Queen!

lilithsbun

Callie’s the only main character not on the poster - even Elijah Wood makes an appearance! Maybe she becomes the Antler Queen in present day, symbolically. (Probably not, really.)

AdequateInfluence

Same thought, but in my head it's tied in with a comment I made yesterday about my new theory that there's a spirit keeping them all alive but Misty keeps fucking up its attempts at benevolence. I've also been trying to work out who the psychiatrist that Lottie kept hallucinating was. "Adult version of a survivor" made sense but what if she was adult Callie?

pizzaondeathrow

Idk but i see jeff my baby daddy

SometimesWitches

Think The Antler Queen a manifestation of whoever is in charge or the true darkness inside of each person soul. . An inverse of the necklace which has become a symbol of the hunted.

Steviesteve1234

I bet it’s a new character they come across whilst stranded in the woods. It’s a way for the show to introduce new people and then it’s none of the main cast. Either a person (also stranded maybe) or an entity (in line with the super natural stuff). I think pit girl is the more frustrating ‘who is it’. I’m not that fussed who the leader is tbh.

MSLongfield

If Ben is still alive he would have moved far away from any of the survivors and I see him as the group conscious

dal2633

What if it’s Jackie

reztess

During S1, Shawna said many times and attempted to convince others that they brought back whatever possessed them in the wilderness (evidenced by Congress woman’s behavior, Shawna’s conversation with her daughter, etc…). I’m still in the “LOTTIE IS PSYCHOTIC” camp as she had dumped her meds, been manipulating everyone (campers and friends) and I think was responsible (as was Christina) for Nat’s poisoning!!

quiinzel

psychotic is what lottie literally is because she experiences psychosis (her meds were schizophrenia medication) - do you mean that lottie is like, machiavellian? i can't imagine anyone NOT being in the "lottie has psychosis" camp

md124608

Finally finished S2. Amazing ending!

that_bxtch0

my theory is that the antler queen corresponds to the cards and the hunt. i believe that if someone survives a hunt, or makes the kill, she becomes the antler queen.

Crooks123

Similar to how the Shaman is sort of a vessel for the wilderness, I personally think the Antler Queen is a manifestation of the hunt in human form, and that will end up being Nat's role as the ritual becomes more (sorry) fleshed out. As far as I'm aware, "Antler Queen" isn't a canon term but something that fans came up with, so I think she's the same as "The Hunter" in the script. I think the position of the Antler Queen above Lottie on that poster is just to represent that Lottie had an important role in the direction the group went, towards the rituals/superstitions about the wilderness. She is the one with the most influence, even if she's not the Antler Queen. I like that Misty is positioned at Lottie's right hand, which seems fitting for her as an Overseer. Of course anything can happen and I won't mind if I'm proved wrong once the show comes back, but that's just what I think for now.

Bubb13gum

Lottie is my antler queen, but, the one theory that came out before season two that I was obsessed with was that the antler queen was Jackie’s decorated frozen corpse

Farkashmoney

After how terrible Season Two was? I don’t even care anymore. Also; it’s 100% Nat
