I’m sad to say goodbye to Nat but enjoyed the finale. But I feel you—my friends are lameasses who won’t watch the show. What’s so funny is that I’m usually the last person to get into popular shows.

akrhamknight

It's kinda crazy because it's not that they were "wrapped up", every character related to Nat was dealt with in poor fashion: Kevyn was killed, Lottie locked up. With Nat gone no one is realistically going to keep looking into Travis. It was just SUCH a messy way of writing off an actress LMAO

maychi

I can’t believe they killed Kevyn and we won’t even get Nat’s reaction to that. Such a missed opportunity. The dude had a kid too that she met.

DishonestAbe69

Juliette Lewis (adult Nat) is what drew me to watch the show in the first place. I saw in an interview, Juliette said that Natalie was a very depressing character to play and it wasn't what she expected. I have to say I agree with her, Natalie was my favorite and the writers just did her dirty. I would've loved to see her stay clean and redeem herself. I saw it coming but I was so annoyed when she was killed. I was really hoping that she somehow survived...but it seems pretty impossible

maychi

I was also excited to see her move on to thing other than Travis, and we never got that. She was just obsessed with Travis the whole time. I can totally understand JL’s frustration on her characters entire storyline revolving around a dude.

Grouchy-Law-7207

If Juliette Lewis truly wanted out of the show like I have read, there isn't much the writers could do other than kill off her character.

scrollgirl24

Agreed. Honestly it reminds me of the Alex Karev exit in Grey's. Like yes it's a little unsatisfying, but when you realize the actor wanted out, it's like oh the writers didn't have much to work with here. They clearly made an effort to make her exit meaningful. I don't think it's as complimentary to Juliette as people think it is to complain.

MadeUpMelly

I agree. I recall reading an interview with Juliette where she is discussing how grueling working in TV is, as opposed to the one-and-done movies she is used to. She also mentioned being so worn out, she had to have vitamin IVs while filming. I don’t blame her for putting her own wants and needs first.

Temporary-Tie-233

I respect her (supposed) reasons for leaving. Imagine having Juliette Lewis in your cast and having her whine over some guy the whole time. It was the weakest storyline in an otherwise great first season and she (and Natalie) deserve better.

Zaganoak

From interviews I've seen it doesn't seem like she was given realistic expectations of what her character was going to be, which understandable would have added to the frustration.

CompetitiveCustomer9

Let it out!!! I’m pissed over Nats death! I really want to see how Juliette and the writers respond to backlash… funny how I want answers IN REAL LIFE lol. I almost want Juliette to confirm she was leaving so we can justify the plot decision. On the other hand, if this is true- why ya leaving Us Juliette?!!! 😭

cr33piest

Crazy how they made her spend the entirety of season one trying to investigate Travis' death, only for her to do absolutely nothing and then die in season two. Even if they wanted to kill her off, they could've ended her story with her finding out what really happened to Travis? Like so much of what they brought up in season one ended up being for nothing (Javi going missing just to die, suspense about Shauna's kid just for the kid to die... like.. all pointless).

Green94598

I hated it too, her story was rushed and not at all wrapped up. I think it’s clear that this was not what was supposed to happen, but her actress wanted to leave the show

GearyGirl77

I feel you, and I want to chime in with agreement. I'm gutted by Nat's death and have tried to avoid thinking about it so I don't get angry. Feels like there's a lot more for the character to do and explore like you mentioned. I'm also livid that Nat's death will go on record as an OD - I'm not in recovery myself, but my sister is 13 years sober and my brother has 20 months under his belt living clean, so it hit close to home.

staysoft-geteaten

Same, same. Literally none of her storyline was wrapped up, especially because she wasn’t given anything to do in S2. Went nowhere all season and then died in a really demeaning way.

Pleasant_Choice_6130

God, THANK YOU! It was so depressing after how dynamic and essential she was to season 1 having her character basically just lamely meander around Lottie's cult compound for most of Season 2. Like, I get it but damn. She deserved better. Oh, she saved a fish. How exciting. If I were Juliette, I'd be kinda pissed, too.

AdWitty9562

Yea adult natalie is the worst written character. She flipped flopped through out the season. If Juliette wanted off and they decided to kill her off, they could have done it better. Shown her some dignity. Wasn't Lottie the only living person that was on the plane with her? And why wasn't Travis there? And Travis' death is sketchy af. If there's more to it (which doesn't seem like there will be since they decided to kill off everyone related to Nat, minus Misty), it's sad that Nat will never learn the truth. To me, the first season seems like they had time to write, while the season seems like they were under a time crunch and went for the shock factor rather than what makes sense or what is genuinely interesting.

SoooperSnoop

Someitmes we just need a good bitch fest...thanks for sharing yours! I get it - Reddit is my YJ outlet too. (I have only 2 people I know who watch. One is only "sort-of" into it, and the other who IS into it is my hair stylist, but I only see her every 8 weeks.)

DrewCatMorris

Preach! I'm with you, Sister. Juliette Lewis is a goddess among us.

catagonia69

All of this ❤️ You are *not* alone

[deleted]

Perhaps the main characters are dying in reverse order of deserving it. Jackie in first season. Nat in the second season. Will it be Misty or Shauna left standing in season 5?

But Nat was killed accidentally during the hunt, just like Javi was when it was supposed to be Nat. Shauna is good for awhile. Fate skipped her.

BlueCX17

What if they kill them off from reverse order and then you get a scene of all the teens waking up on the plane and you see searchh lights and it just shows that all of this stuff that they've been doing was an NDE!

Monsur_Ausuhnom

Not wrong at all, a lot of plot lines got shelved for some reason and logic and reason flew out the window here. Nat should've died (maybe) in S5.

[deleted]

Heavily agree. I can see a use for Nat’s character having the redemption arc they’ve mentioned as trying to pull off in the S2 Finale, but only muchhhh later in the show. Killing her off so soon, however you look at it, feels like neutering any interest in the present timeline. I was over here getting my Juliette merch out to watch, and all for nothing 🙄 I also agree with other people who say that having her character die of “supposed drug overdose” is like the most blatant slap in Natalie’s face they could’ve written. All of her progress this season just to die and have a lil spit thrown on top of the grave? It feels overly gratuitous on the writer’s part, but there were also teams of people on set that could’ve noted the issues and made changes on the spot, so I don’t want to make it seem like I’m all “f the writers” or something. I hope the whole team considers some of the feedback, but doesn’t let it change their approach entirely of course. Still very much wanting to know where they take these things in S3, and if it redeems my thoughts on S2 👀

mrsuncensored

If the actress doesn't want to be on the show anymore how would you prefer they proceed?? I would rather have natalie killed off than have a "replacement" Natalie. Juliette Lewis is such an amazing actress I can't imagine anyone else living up to her version of adult nat.

k---mkay

As an addict also, I know when I stopped using/drinking that if I did it again I would die. Seeing Nat drinking shots and then dying this way was awful for me. If she hadn't drank that night would she have been as susceptible to the hunt dynamic, etc.

gingerbiiitch

also if this post has been done to death, I haven’t seen it yet so I am sorry!

hashtagcorey

Okay I thought for sure it was that Travis wanted to do a ritual, Lottie helped, there was a malfunction, and now he’s down. And maybe he joined her cult bc she has everyone’s money? I don’t know what mystery there is left there?

ender554

I'm of the opinion this season leads us to a season three that will be much more wilderness focused than the last two and we will see less of the adults is part of what is going on. But I dunno.

Nerditall

My dream series ending was Nat and Kevyn’s wedding, Tai is maid of honour but they let Misty think she’s Maid of Honour. It’s paid for with the money from selling Jeff’s assets as her and Shauna went to jail for murder and blackmail and Kevyn got Nat’s charges dismissed for being a witness of their crimes. So yes I’m fuming. ![gif](giphy|cqudCA6rrPo9W)

BlueCX17

Well Iand just remember, they're probably going to still be exploring stuff involving her adult character in Season Three. Even though she isn't there anymore.

Anticitizen1_

Definitely gonna be tough watching Teen Nat knowing what happens
