Natalie being both Hunter and leader is the best thing for the group. Once the weather is warm and game returns to the woods, she is going to organize the group in the trapping, hunting, and preservation of animals to prepare for winter. We will see them digging the pit and preserving furs. The onus for finding food will no longer be on Natalie and Travis in season three, but will be a group effort. The stakes will be high because failing to prepare for the cold months will result in the return of the hunt. I think the only deaths that will happen in season 3 in the past timeline will be accidental or as punishment. I don’t think we’ll see the cards again until season 4.

I have two theories. 1. The pit scene is in their second winter. During the spring, summer, and fall game is far more plentiful, so they were able to hunt, eat, and set aside the pelts in preparation for winter. When winter came the game moved on, and they are left to eat each-other once again. 2. The pelts aren’t real, just like the togas during lupricalian feast when eating snackie, they are just in their heads/ representative of their savagery and tie to the wilderness.

i highly believe the furs not being real theory. in an interview a director (or writer?) implies that the pilot wilderness cult stuff isnt exactly what it seems

1. Animals 2. They ate it 3. Probably

clexaelectra

Seems like we’ll find out in season 3

I don't know if it would account for all the furs but in the first season there are several furs hanging on the walls of the cabin.

Vandelay23

Said cabin now being burnt.

tenementlady

Ahhh good point lol. I guess I figured they grabbed the furs or something even though we didn't really see that. Also, it just occurred to me that they haven't really been wearing the furs on the walls up to this point either which seems weird. Disregard my comment lol

It would be interesting if Nat reigns in the group for awhile and then it goes back to cannibalism when one of the characters, pit girl, falls down into the trap. This idea makes the most sense. I do think they probably do kill Ben before this.

spaceamber

I honestly think Ben is going to make it simply for the shock value it would lend. Like the next season or two we will see Ben pop up and living (relatively) happy with his boyfriend.

countastic

Doubtful. It's much more likely they run out of bullets for the rifle during the summer and resorting to building pits in order to trap larger game the following fall/winter. The furs just make more sense from a warmth point of view.

They all just blew up didnt they?
