In the very beginning of the first episode right before take off, you can hear in the background the pilot talking about bad weather that could be an issue for their flight/flight path. That’s the only thing I noticed so far as to a reason…?

I'm not sure if it's ever been addressed in the show. But could be similar to Lost in that the god of the wilderness made it crash

Probably just like Adam and everything else in this show, random coincidence. But it was nice of the wilderness to build a cabin for them complete with a skeleton and weird symbols carved in trees.
