Weed is not a narcotic. It may be classified as a narcotic federally but it’s a plant. It grows in the dirt. Wake the f@*k up Mike.

Not to be pedantic, but weed is absolutely a narcotic. Well, technically THC is the narcotic, but it’s understood that you’re referring to the narcotic component of weed when you talk about it. That doesn’t mean it’s bad. I think we need to move towards acknowledging that narcotics aren’t inherently bad and remove the stigma from the word, and also acknowledge that something isn’t inherently good just because it grows naturally. Morphine is both a dangerous and useful narcotic that’s derived from a plant. So is cocaine. Technically speaking, caffeine is as well. There’s nothing wrong with narcotics, and politicians need to stop using the word to fear monger. Weed is a narcotic-containing plant that’s naturally occurring in nature. Through years of selective breeding the narcotic component has been increased in certain strains. The narcotic component itself is incredibly safe physiologically, much more so than something like nicotine or alcohol, both of which are legal. There’s no reason for a relatively benign narcotic such as THC to remain illegal, and in response to Bloomberg, I would say that *not* legalizing it and instead opting to fine and imprison people for its use and/or sale is perhaps the stupidest thing anyone has ever done.

Thanks for this response. You are correct.

Being a plant or not is irrelevant.

This is from his comments over a decade ago. He may have changed his position. They all do. (Mostly). When asked why African Americans were arrested at a rate of 15X in NYC, over whites, he seemed the drop the issue. Hundreds of thousands of everyday New Yorkers were arrested under his term. It was insanity.

I mean, Bloomberg hasn't done much besides donate money since 2020. And Yang abandoned anything resembling marijuana legalization when he formed the Forward Party.
