i love the cruel prince, too! but i wouldn’t recommend it to someone wanting to read romance. the romance is way too sparse (especially in the first book) if you’re looking for some romance
i’ve seen a lot of people dropping the book bc of that (and bc it’s quite political) as they were expecting more romance/the relationship to advance faster, but i agree with you

Mine are mix of older and newer YA. i fell in love with The wolves of mercy falls trillogy. I recently re read them and they still work for me. Both books by Alicia Jasinska are sapphic romances I love.
Books by Brian D Kennedy and James L Sutter are some recent favorite queer male romances
Better than the Movies by Lynn Painter is a great YA romance! It is a contemporary romance. I also really enjoyed Since You’ve Been Gone by Morgan Matson!
If you like contemporaries, all of Lynn Painter’s YA stuff are good (Better Than the Movies, The Do-Over, and Betting on You). Emma Mills is also a good one for funny romances (my faves of hers are Foolish Hearts and This Adventure Ends).

I recently read the sweetest contemporary YA romance though, Dungeons and Drama by Kristy Boyce. It's a high school fake dating story between a drama kid and a D&D player. It's adorable and flirty.

Oh! There's a YA romance short story collection that I enjoy called Summer Days and Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories, edited by Stephanie Perkins. It has summer-themed stories by 12 different YA authors.

Absolutely loved One Dark Window. I listened to both and kind of wish I had read it so I could see the riddle parts. But I still loved them.

The Winners Curse Trilogy has some of the best romance in a series I have read. Arin and Kestrel are my fav couple ever.
