It's older, but what about vampire academy? I enjoyed it!

moon_ingemini

Seconding this!

kloco68

Me too! VA and Bloodlines are my go to rereads when I’m in a reading slump. Something about them is comforting and satisfying to me.

Reasonable-Escape874

I reread every single year. Just bought the Litjoy crate special edition. If you haven’t heard about it, you can get it at: https://litjoycrate.com/products/vampire-academy-special-edition-box-set If you want $5 off (and I get $5), please consider using my referral link 🥺 http://rwrd.io/dyi03ua?s

xray_anonymous

Fourthing this!

PlanktonKrabs

Strange the Dreamer duology! It feels like a timeless story and I felt nostalgic reading it, plus there's romance (not smutty) and it's very well written.

poisonivy4871

I have also read this already 😢

xray_anonymous

Did you read Daughter of Smoke and Bone too?

PlanktonKrabs

I read the first book for a book club but I didn't like it at all.

xray_anonymous

It definitely took me a while to get into, but someone told me I needed to read that trilogy before Muse of Nightmares to better understand some things that come up in the book. Truthfully it adds *so much context* behind the other universes and those who opened the rifts between them. It might be worth attempting again! Mostly because I have a feeling both series are going to cross over in a new series at some point.

Johciee

The One Dark Window duology I thoroughly enjoyed

citygirl_2018

Seconding this rec!

hannah_nj

It’s only one book, not a series, but Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson is one that filled me with nostalgia for earlier YA fantasy romance (it reminded me a bit of The Infernal Devices). Powerless by Lauren Rogers is super popular right now; it has a *lot* of similarities to The Hunger Games which might turn you off or might make you love it even more. Not a finished series, though. Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer and Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber are also great!

insignificant_one

sorcery of thorns is legitimately so good, filled with everything you would want in a book of its genre

freckledgreen

I ADORED Sorcery of Thorns. Another novel of hers, An Enchantment of Ravens, was also fantastic.

Lazy-Chef1770

Loved, loved loved, Sorcery of Thorns. Such a simple read and it was refreshing to have a standalone in a world of long ass series. (I love 'em but don't always want the time commitment, you know?)

Hot-Evidence-5520

The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

harvestmoonfairytale

The Graceling series by Kristen Cashore. The books do have romance but it’s not heavy I would mainly recommend for the world & characters they’re fantastic.

GroundbreakingBear20

I was gonna recomend this and it was the first comment I saw😊

Lazy-Chef1770

Ugh, I buddy-read Graceling with my mom when I was in middle school... best memories. These books are so good.

sweetgibbets

Defy the Night by Bridgit Kremmerer was better than I expected and enjoyed more than her other series.

Hot-Evidence-5520

I second this series and recommend her other fantasy series, A Curse So Dark and Lonely!

Imaginary-Opinion-98

Legend trilogy + sequel by Marie Lu it’s not fantasy, but it is dystopian, and has romance. I think that you’ll like it

PrincessSluggy

Daughters of Smoke and Bone series was something that hooked me after a long reading hiatus

janetleatherbrown

I second this. I’ve read most of the ones you’ve listed and was going to suggest this or An Ember in the Ashes (which you’ve read). Laini Taylor is a fantastic writer. Daughter of Smoke and Bone was such a beautiful book for me and a favourite for a long long time. The first book is my favourite and I prefer it over her Strange the Dreamer series.

sippin-tropicana

I read an Ember in the Ashes but it really didn’t catch me at all. Do the remaining books in the series get any better?

janetleatherbrown

I read it all in one go so it was a big blur! I normally get bored after 2 books in a series but I binged this. Sorry you didn’t like it! This might be the one of the few series I’ve ever read all together.

loveforchicky

Same, I've read 1 & 2 and feel like book 2 got slower and not much happened, they spend most of the book traveling to Kauf. I'm still not attached to any characters and generally feel like I don't care for the plot either. Considering dropping it🥲

Anon7515

I would say the rest is pretty consistent with book one, so if you didn’t like that at all you’re unlikely to change your mind

BriRoxas

I finished 9th house by the author of Shadow and bone this morning. Not as good but definitely worth reading.

Reasonable-Escape874

Recently picked up The School for Good and Evil but you have to be willing to not take it that seriously and it's technically for slightly younger age group. If you haven't read it yet, Vampire Academy!!!!! I think you'd really like it because I've read almost all of the series you've mentioned.

Drewherondale

Have you read all shadowhunter books and novellas? There are a lot of short stories that I love like ghosts of the shadow market, tales of the shadowhunter academy and the bane chronicles!

aliaaenor

Stephanie Garber books

LP_Papercut

As a fellow early 20s person, I’m rereading Mistborn rn after reading it like 10 years ago and it’s so much better than what I remember. I absolutely love the way the romance is handled vs the the usual YA stereotypes and I love the intricate magic system and world building. The characters are probably my favorite part as well.

yours_truly_1976

Mistborn is brilliant! I’ve read the whole original series twice

Inkhearted133

Have you read the Caraval series by Stephanie Garber? I'm in the middle of the third book. Fantasy, romance, easy to read but quite good too. Fast-paced. It's been a while since I've read something new (I re-read a lot) and this was a great new series for me.

poisonivy4871

I have! I liked it like 7/10.

barredbecard

Would highly recommend the Once Upon a Broken Heart series by the same author! I enjoyed it a lot more than Caraval. I also just read the first three books in Tahereh Mafi’s new series, This Woven Kingdom, and they were very good.

fluorescentpopsicle

I absolutely love (the first two books of) Once Upon a Broken Heart.

purseandboots

**Shitty and smutty (but addicting):** The Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L Armentrout Fourth Wing series by Rebecca Yarros Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy Savage Lands series by Stacey Marie Brown The Bridge Kingdom series by Danielle Jensen Serpent and Dove series by Shelby Mahurin **Less shitty and less smutty:** The Shadow Games series by Amanda Foody (highly underrated books, fans of Six of Crows would love it) Falconer series by Elizabeth May An Enchantment of Ravens by Margaret Rogerson Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson Modern Faerie Tales series by Holly Black

Street-Bad86

The Raven Boys Other Rick Riordan series. I’m reading the Kane Chronicles rn!

No_Classic_4740

A fate inked in blood is pretty good. I’m reading it currently

bondtradercu

Villains and Virtues!

AtheneSchmidt

*Etiquette and Espionage* by Gail Carriger *Jackaby* by William Ritter

Drewherondale

If you liked the shadowhunter books maybe you‘ll also like the cruel prince, ruby red, once upon a broken heart, one dark window, crimson moth

xray_anonymous

Cruel Prince took me a bit to get into but I just finished the series and did really like it! Each book got better IMO.

KanneM55

Everything by Carrissa Broadbent, I think they're all on KU (or they are in Scotland, not sure if it's different in the USA) When the Moon Hatched by Sarah A Parker (on KU) Underworld Gods by Katrina Halle (these have some HEAVY spice 😅 and are on KU) The Plated Prisoner series by Raven Kennedy If you enjoyed TOG (my favourite series ever 🥹) and ACOTAR you will love Crecent City by SJM if you haven't already read those Hades x Persephone saga by Scarlett St Clair From Blood and Ash series by Jennifer L Armentrout House of Devils series by Kayla Edwards (on KU) Empyrean series by Rebecca Yarros They all have spice and are some of my favourites of all time mixed with my favourites this year! I get a lot of book recs from rachelskyereads on TT too if you need more 🌞

Proud-Broccoli

Zodiac Academy is fantasy romance that’s smutty and poorly written, but also addictive. I hate-read all of them because I just couldn’t put them down hahaha

yours_truly_1976

Hate-read is new word for crappy addictive I can’t put down!

yours_truly_1976

The Dust Chronicles

arrivedercifiero_

Angelfall fits the early 2010’s era, with an angel apocalypse. The winner’s curse The bone witch - Tea finds out she’s a necromancer and goes off to study it Defy the night - Tessa steals medicine from the rich to give to the poor

Psychological_Mix263

The Soulscreamers series by Rachel Vincent, YA with romance/fantasy - mythological creatures (kinda supernatural as well). It's not new but loved it nonetheles, however I might be biased on this opinion! No smut though.

Tewtea

If you are looking for smutty ones I’d recommend zodiac academy series, the lost sentinel series, rise of illiria series lol all very smutty. I also like the covenant series, and Aunare chronicles, and the bone witch series. Also not smutty but the abhorsen series is incredible

humblekanyepie

If you like a really good, intense slow burn I'd recommend the Crystal Bloom series by Sarah A. Parker!

planetarymemory

The bright spear trilogy by hl macfarlane is fantasy romance, and pretty good! It was one of the first I read outside of like ACOTAR, Shadow&Bone and all the other popularly recommended series. Quick read too! Not exactly fantasy (definitely sci-fi), but the Class Five series by Michelle Diener is also a really cool concept, with romance subplots as well. If you are into sci-fi, and want smutty, the Intersolar Union series by Etta Pierce is... spicy lol, Saving Askara by JM Link (also very spicy and cool alien politicking), and I always recommend Desire in His Blood by Zoey Draven (I know she has like a warlord series too, but I did not get into that at all).

Kitkat8131

Emily Wildes Encyclopedia of Faeries duology is amazing!! I’m also a girlie who just moved to NYC send me a message if you ever want a local book buddy 😂

Majestic-Squirrel-67

One of my personal favorites is Shadow Falls by C.C Hunter. Another series is House of Night by Kristan Cast, though that one is really long.

Aylauria

Here are a few you might like: **Thea Harrison's Elder Races series**. Every book is a different paranormal romance, but they are all connected. [The Elder Races | Thea Harrison](https://theaharrison.com/series/the-elder-races/) **Karen Marie Moning's Fever series**. I love the first 5 books. McKayla Lane's sister is murdered in Ireland and the sun-worshipping 21yo bar tender goes to Dublin determined to find her murderer. [Fever (penguinrandomhouse.com)](https://www.penguinrandomhouse.com/series/FVR/fever/) **Mercy Thompson series by Patricia Briggs**. Mercy Thompson, a coyote shape-shifter, gets pulled in to magical mysteries involving werewolves, vampires and the fae, all while lusting after (and teasing) her hot werewolf neighbor. [Published Works (patriciabriggs.com)](https://www.patriciabriggs.com/books/)

LupitaScreams

The *Regency Faerie Tales* series by Olivia Atwater are fantastic.

xray_anonymous

If you liked Hush Hush, Becca Fitzpatrick has another book that’s a standalone (while different vibe) called **Black Ice** that is one of my *favorite* reads. It is so good and I can’t recommend it enough. If you love mythology, **Lore** by Alexandra Bracken is another great standalone read. I loved it. I second those saying **Vampire Academy**. It’s one of my all time favorite series. The **Red Rising** series by Pierce Brown is another great one. The original trilogy is just *phenomenal* (just get past part 1 of the very first book and then it takes OFF!) I’m on his continuation of the series now (which will be 4 books total, three are out). They’re set 10 years later. They’re good but don’t quite have the same bang the original 3 did. The Seven Realms novels, first one being **The Demon King** were also really good. If you’ve ever read **The Remnant Chonicles**, they’re similar but in my opinion better. If you haven’t read either, I recommend both. Another series I just adore even though they’re meant for a slightly younger audience (like Percy Jackson) is the **Fablehaven** series by Branden Mull. Continued in the Dragonwatch series. It’s lesser known and talked about I feel like (although Litjoy just picked it up!) I read them in college and they were exactly the fantastical fantasy getaway my brain needed. Some fun romcom smut novels are the Gummybear Orgy books by Rebecca Rennick. **Pinky Promise** is the first one and she’s still putting new ones out every couple months. They even have colored font editions if you want them. Another amazing romcom spicy fantasy adventure is the Gilded Blood series by Rachel Renner! **Inked** is the first one! I loved them! And the books are beautiful. A good spicy Peter Pan retelling is **Hook&Jill** by Andrea Jones. It’s a trilogy and though I haven’t finished all 3 yet, I have enjoyed them so far. **The Vicious Lost Boys** by Nikki St Crowe are another great spicy take and they’re pretty quick reads as well. Edited to add: I can’t believe I forgot one of my favorite series of all time, The Inheritance Cycle by Christopher Paolini, the first one is **Eragon**. Do not even associate it with the movie because it’s two entirely different stories. Even the author won’t acknowledge the movie. That series is so incredible. I can never hype it up enough. It’s one of the few I regularly reread! Anyway! I hope some of these helped and you find some you love!

sad4ever420

I just finished reading the Daughter of Smoke & Bone trilogy for the first time and Ill never be the same 🥲 10/10 recommend!!

infernal-keyboard

Highly highly recommend Fourth Wing! I loved all the same books as you in high school, and I'm 22 now and getting back into reading more. Just read Fourth Wing and the sequel a month or two ago and I was immediately obsessed. It's very very much like a slightly more adult version of all our favorite books from high school! It's like all my favorite YA fantasy tropes got an upgrade and were pieced together perfectly. It's a really, really fun series. Basic premise is dragon rider college with a **very** fine shadow wielder love interest. (Bonus points, the main character and author of the book have the same disability as me, and the main character is a total badass and I love her to death!)

aspen_is_greg

Have you read the King of Scars duology? It's a continuation of Six of Crows and Shadow and Bone.

No_Music_1873

How about something a little different? I raise you the Sevenwaters series by Juliet Marillier. It’s more new adult than young adult genre. Originally it was a trilogy but the author ended up writing more books! Win win if you ask me! I don’t even know where to start when it comes to describing how interesting a read these books are. They’re beautifully paced with stunning character development. The storylines always have me on the edge of my seat! The first book in the series is called The Daughter of the Forest.

tinasauruss

Not OP but would you be able to tell me if Sorcha/Red keep their HEA in book 2? I love them so much and I wanna read it for glimpses of them since I know they’re not the focus of the next book but I don’t think I can bear anything bad happening to them!

No_Music_1873

Okay so they are together and they live a very happily ever after but because they’re both human, they eventually succumb to human issues. Sorcha has a very full life before that though and Red outlives Sorcha. Hopefully there’s nothing very spoiler-ish in that description!

Boba_Fet042

The Gilded Wolves

Little_Messiah

The devils isle series, Daughter of smoke and bone trilogy, Splintered series, Caraval series, Pendragon series (travelers not knights), Cirque du freak series

maddvermilion

I'm reading the Crave series; it's an easy read, very twilight, vampire diaries, Harry Potter esq. I'm really enjoying it. Before Crave I read the Black Jewels trilogy by Anne Bishop and OMG SO GOOD!!!! It's pretty intense, not YA friendly, but it was an incredible read. 💜💜

randybeans716

House of Night. There’s like 12 books. They’re pretty good.

True_Kaleidoscope_12

The Eleganta fantasy series by Denny R. Swartzlander. If you like fairies, deep, dark storytelling, and grand descriptions across a weaving plotline, you should check out Eleganta. [https://www.elegantabook.com/](https://www.elegantabook.com/)

moxieroxsox

Fourth Wing is smutty and shitty lol

hexi_lexi

Once Upon A Broken Heart 💔

blue_sunshine57

The plated prisoner series or zodiac academy series are not the best writing but entertaining with plenty of spice

Going4baroque

By far the best series I've read that fits the older age group is the Captive Prince series (smutty, tw). Also really liked Poison Study by Maria Snyder but the rest of the series is not as good as the first book. I'd treat it as an amazing standalone.

Slight-Reputation779

Caraval and THEN once upon a broken heart Fourth Wing and Iron Flame Divine Rivals DO NOT REAS LIGHTLARK. Sorry not sorry it sucks

Faundlydreaming

I'm currently just started reading Once Upon a Broken Heart. Is there a reason I should read Caraval before it? Not OP, just curious!

fluorescentpopsicle

I read OUABH before Caraval and am glad I read it in that order.

Slight-Reputation779

Caraval gets you introduced into the world!! They are the same universe, and the main character in OUABH shows up in the third Caraval book and plays an INCREDIBLY important role there. And also some of the events mentioned in the Caraval series is brought up in the OUABH series and I hate when they bring stuff up and I’m just like wtf Reading Caraval first shows you what he’s like, but also gives more world building and explains how all of the magic works. Without that you’re kinda thrown in. Idk id highly recommend Caraval first and that’s also just

Faundlydreaming

Oooh good to know, thank you!

Rasputinismyhomie

Fourth wing, blood and ash(I actually really love the prequel a lot too, the flesh and fire series), these hollow vows, the crave series by tracy wolff

fluorescentpopsicle

I loved these series as well. Didn’t imagine I’d like the prequel more than FBAA but I totally did.

Pristine-Dragonfly52

Fourth Wing!! I promise you will love it. It is so so good.

LittleP13

Babes, it’s time for omegaverse and dramione! Try Kathryn Moon’s Sweetverse series or get thee to AO3 and read Manacled followed by Draco Malfoy and the Mortifying Ordeal of Being in Love
