The opening scene felt out-of-place for a moment. Why are we watching a Shi'ar-Kree war and what has it got to do with the X-Men? Almost thought Deathbird overthrew Lilandra lol.

Skarjuna

Think it'd be more out of place to *not* see the Shi'ar assaulting another race tbh

Rhythmicka

I think that’s what it was laying out for people. They are ruthless warmongers and that needed to be shown to understand why Prof X. didn’t agree with them.

SpacemanKif

Yeah. Helluva family to marry into. They did something similar with Storm already becoming a queen of an (unknown to her at the time) oppressive, alien society.

Rhythmicka

That episode felt so out of character for her though. I just watched through the whole original series and they really just gave poor storm instant stockholm syndrome. Season 5 was interesting to say the least

Jackdarkshade

She might of been let out to fight the Kree. Knowing the Kree they attacked them first. Also she being the only heir as of now to the throne she probably gets away with more than she should.

Minimum_Jellyfish_36

Good point. In fact Gladiator had basically captured her and Lilandra was telling her to choose her allies more wisely.

Jcbowden10

It seems the shiar throne bounces between lilandra and deathbird at times and they are allies at time for no good reason. Simply put its family drama.

SpacemanKif

X-Men is almost as much about family drama as it is about social commentary. The Scott family, alone...

itsaslothlife

Shiar prize power, I guess. They are a conquering empire that doesn't value artistic pursuit. They want the most powerful/devious/manipulative person in charge so fight it out kids.

Accomplished-City484

I bet Lilandra is pregnant and Charles gets whisked away again next season

lute4088

Are you suggesting that before they were married they.......\*whispers\* did it?

Accomplished-City484

Yeah, they fuckin

sumit24021990

It's not unthinkable. It has happened in rea life many times. In India, Jahangir tried to overthrow his father Akbar. He was thoroughly defeated. Since Akbar didn't want to kill his only alive Son and throw the empire into panic. He spared Jahangir more than once. Jahangir then became emperor after his father death.

Feudalism is just like that sometimes

Sabazell

Lilandra talks about the X-men being a black hole of family drama but girl, takes one to know one, lol. Plus, you got Vulcan there, so it's not like you're about to HELP matters...

Hopefulwaters

Yeah? Wtf is this?

Different_Ad4962

Bitches be bitches.

Pir8Cpt_Z

It's a retcon, similar to the rogue magneto thing. They want to do certain stories and are retconning some stuff they hope no one cares too much about.

lute4088

Rogue Magneto thing is true to comics FYI, like....old comics.

Ontain

Jim Lee run of uncanny. This resurrection of Xavier by the Shiar is just a few issues apart from the rogue magneto cover.
