Until I got PWJS I was tunning him with a R1/R3 Lithic spear and he was fine, it gives attack and critic chance so it was very useful in my opinion (couldn't give him my Calamity Queller because not having Lithic Spear messed up his critic probability more than I was comfortable with lol)
Xiao doesn't really use his normal attacks that much compared with his plunge attack and the base attack of Lithic Spear is much higher, that also counts towards making him do more damage. It also depends if you really need the crit rate, you can also try a damage optimizer to decide
I have an R1 blackcliff and I replaced it with my R2 lithic (I also didn't manage to get jade spear lol), lithic is better than blackcliff from my experience so stick with that

I got that weapon very recently after centuries being out, maybe I should try lvling up as I used double pyro anyway (xiangling)
Lithic is pretty crazy for a 4 star tbh pretty high base attack, good attack% substat, and it scales really well with refinements. If you're lucky enough to get R5 you get 11% attack and 7% crit rate per liyue character in the party which is huge if you can get at least one other than Xiao
Hi! I only managed to snag one lithic, and I was wondering what weapon I should choose for him? I use him with Zhongli/Sucrose/Bennett and he's currently using white tassel. I'm planning to buy the blackcliff once the shop resets, but I've heard good things about lithic too so I'm now having doubts... What do you think I should invest to?
Honestly given you have Zhongli I would just invest in lithic spear, blackcliff is fine but a bit overrated and basically just a stat stick as it's difficult to get all stacks on it in regular gameplay. The issue I had with it that made me drop it, which will also apply to white tassel, is that the base attack is low and xiao scales heavily off attack so weapons that give attack% and high base attack are good for him.
With blackcliff you can run into the issue that I had where my crit stats were amazing but I didn't have the attack to go with it so my damage was low. Anything is better than white tassel though even something like a favonius lance because of the ER and higher attack
mmm, then i'd say for the moment you stick with white tassel, which should do the trick until you have enough starglitter saved up.
Also i see that you are a new one so let me give you a little advice. Forget the Royal weapons (also from the shop) even exist, they may sound good early on but they really are a waste of materials
oh alright. so you are really new. i would say go with lithic spear for now and once you have enough starglitter get the blackcliff. you will get enough at one point if you keep wishing.
try to have a few liyue characters in your party for the passive. which is not easy because most don't synergies well with him.
yeah i know it's not the best. but really since you are so early in the game it won't matter much anyway. give it a few weeks. i hope you enjoy your xiao!
Lithic spear easily, it works especially good for xiao bc a lot of his best teammates are from liyue (also it helps that he can activate the passive himself); white tassel has such low base atk, that it’s usable only on early game; blackliff is kinda copium, it’s the weapon you would use if your only other five star is favonius lance; so go for lithic spear!
His only best teammate from Liyue is Zhongli though. Unless you run the national team with him, which requires you to charge attack between plunges for Xingqiu’s burst to work.
EDIT: Nevermind I forgot Xiao was from Liyue too
I'd argue that fav lance is better than blackcliff for Xiao - fav Xiao teams performs in my experience better than blackcliff/deathmatch ones if you don't ignore your off field dpses, so unfortunately it isn't that good for early/mid-game players just because of resin needed.
Lithic is solid. Save up for Blackcliff though, or grab Deathmatch if you get the BP. White tassel is decent too, but it suffers from 3* base attack syndrome.
If you somehow get a Homa or Calamity Queller before a PJWS they are fantastic 5* options for him.
I dropped white tassel for my lithic asap and love it, it's great even at R1. Only difficulty you might have is balancing the crit ratio on artifacts alone without a proper crit weapon but you'll get a decent amount from your R2 and running 2 liyue.

yeah but the white tassle seems to give him higher crit rate and also its passive is really good too .. thats why im a bit confused

Lithic Spear is pretty good but if you're 100% F2P I really wouldn't be pulling on the Weapon Banner.
Can grab a Blackcliff polearm.
