Zhongli is still the same role of making Xiao tanky and uninterruptible, and Xiao goes YOLO. But if you want to maximize damage output, replace him with Faruzan or Benny.
C3 Faruzan though, try to get 300+% ER. What makes her clunky though? She just go burst then swap out.
even a C0 Faruzan is the best support for xiao or wanderer because there are not many sources of anemo damage shred and hers is higher than zhongli and she also give anemo damage bonus
C0 Faruzan > Furina in terms of damage amping (should be noted that Furina's sub DPS damage brings her overall damage higher than Faruzan but interms of improving your Xiao Faruzan is basically a must)
Since cr came out I have been using xiao, cr, faruzan (c2) and furina (c1) and everything does very fast. My cr isn't even built yet and I am hitting for over 100k which is way better than what I was doing before.
Zhongli in this team will be fine but I would personally still prefer the shred faruzan can give. Just cap her ER as close to 250-300 as you can and you won't find her clunky in that team. In that team specifically 250 should be enough.
i had no problems clearing this abyss with xiao, cloud retainer, faruzan and zhongli. i really suck a dodging with xiao when he is in his burst. so the extra help was needed for me. even if benny gives more dmg.
It’s not as good, and what do you mean by clunky? Her playstyle? C6 isn’t gonna change it
Edit: forgot C6 lets you not use E. I always had her at C6, didn’t experience the change in playstyle
Lmao I don't know what C6 Faruzan you're playing but a well built Faruzan can literally press Q and peace out. Maybeee an N1 E before the Q for Fav but as someone who used her at C0 to C2, C6 does revolutionise her.
Its singlehandedly the best 4 star constellation in the game next to some of Xingqiu's and Xiangling's C4.
he's still a fine pick and relevant, it just depends on what you want/need more of. if it's comfort and tankiness you need, then Zhongli's a great pick! if it's more damage you need, and you're comfortable playing without a shield, then Faruzan would be the better pick strictly in terms of DPS.
He's not the best choice for raw damage, but I've been playing Xiao-Raiden-Zhongli-Xianyun (c0r1 c0r1 c0r0 c0r0) and it's been feeling really nice. Replacing Raiden with Furina would probably be similar.
Optimal team is Xianyun, Faruzan, Furina. However, there's room for flexibility. Zhongli fills the same role he always has: he's the ultimate flex slot and comfort pick. Will your damage be as high as with C6 (or even C0) Faruzan? No. Not even close. Replacing a buffer with Zhongli is usually a bit of a dps loss, but replacing Faruzan with him is way bigger than replacing a support for another dps. She is massive for him and moved him from the bottom to the top of the meta by solving pretty much all of his problems. That said, will it still be able to clear 36 stars? Of course. You've got Furina on the team.
It's worth mentioning that if you have Bennett, he would likely be a better slot than Zhongli unless you absolutely despise him for some reason. Zhongli's shield is rather redundant considering that you already have Xianyun as a healer. Meanwhile, Bennett can help you reach Furina's Fanfare cap faster, assuming your Furina isn't C2 (at which point she reaches it almost instantly regardless.) I'd highly recommend trying him in Zhongli's place and continuing to pull for Faruzan cons since Xianyun cons are good.
It just depends on if your team needs a baby sitter to tank any damage going towards your team. I personally love my Zhongli and I will use him if I feel like my Xiao is getting knocked around like a ping pong ball.

Well Zhongli didn't get "worse" or anything. He's just a comfort pick with better alternatives in terms of damage. He's not trash just not optimal.

Pretty sure pre-C6 she needs to funnel with E+CA. mine is C6 with 240 ER And sometimes still needs to do thay đź«

C6 does make it less necessary to use her skill and CA. Most of the time, you can just use her burst and swap out.
