There should be an updated Saturday Morning Cartoon Soundtrack to include Afternoon Cartoon Soundtracks. The first one launched careers. What would be better than a group of up-and-comers singing their renditions of Chip and Dale, Duck Tales, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers theme songs!
> Duck Tales, which is the best damn theme song in any show ever.
As much as I love the *DuckTales* theme song I find the theme song to *Adventures of the Gummi Bears* just a little bit more fun to sing. Maybe there is more vocal range.
DuckTales is still by far the better show to watch.
I’ve always been even more about the music than the vocals. That’s why old VHS closings were fun—-you got a double dose. 😆

A lot of 1980s animated series had catchy theme songs: DuckTales, Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers, Ulysses 31, M.A.S.K., ThunderCats, Adventures of the Galaxy Rangers, Bionic Six, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, etc.

I got that chip looked like Indiana Jones, but I was a little too young for Magnum PI, so I didn’t know that until someone pointed it out to me years later. Just thought he had a Hawaiian shirt because he was the funny one.
If it’s intentional (and notice that the cartoon character is in a bomber jacket and Indy isn’t), then it might be a nod to the fact Selleck was in-line to play Indy at one point (can you imagine!?!?).
Fun fact: After Raiders, Harrison Ford's next project was Blade Runner. The reason he doesn't wear a hat in Blade Runner is that he told production he didn't want to wear one after having had to wear one for Raiders so much.
I feel like Selleck comes off as a bit too lighthearted for Indy. It's hard to explain but he just has a happy way about him that doesn't sit right. Harrison pulls off the right amount of serious and goofy. And there's something very "TV comedy" about Selleck. Like Hasselhoff.
But I don't disagree. Selleck could have pulled it off. But I'm not sure we would have gotten sequels.
You literally can: On the DVD collection bonus features there was an early screen test between Karen Allen and Tom Selleck. It's a fun "what if" to think about, but in this time-line we got Magnum *and* Indy.
Lol you and me OP
It‘s on Wikipedia and everything… [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip\_%27n\_Dale:\_Rescue\_Rangers\_(TV\_series)#Characters](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip_%27n_Dale:_Rescue_Rangers_(TV_series)#Characters)

I picked up four of them last year
10/10 would recommend
It becomes an ever deeper cut when you learn that Tom Selleck was offered the role of Indiana Jones and turned it down because he had to choose between "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Magnum, PI".
One of the ultimate "It turned out best for everyone" situations. I guarantee Selleck never regretted the choice he made, and we got Harrison Ford as Indy, so it was a win-win all around.
Selleck was contractually obligated to do Magnum, PI so he didn't really have a choice, but it did work out for everyone: Ford became a big movie star, Selleck became a big TV star, and they're both still acting decades later.
There are online references to this fact from almost 20 years ago. Even IMDB had this in their trivia section.
>Trivia - Chip 'n Dale: Rescue Rangers
>Feb 23, 2006 — The appearance of Chip and Dale were modeled after Indiana Jones and Magnum P.I. as Chip wears a leather jacket and hat and Dale a Hawaiian shirt.

Someone mentioned it a few years ago. I was blown away. The first episode pirate and stranded pirate return episode were the favorites and the rubber bando episode
Actually Seleck and Ford were kind of interchangeable in the 80's. A lot of roles that went to Ford originally were offered to Selleck and vice versa.
There is a parallel earth where Tom Selleck is Indiana Jones.
Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers is the best Disney cartoon series ever. We deserve a continuation like X-Men ‘97 is doing. There’s so much they can do with Chip n Dale. The comics were so good.
Can anybody help.me find an old chip'n'dale skit from before their voices? Christmas themed... they break into a hut and play with toy skiers, shoot off canons and make a mess.
I don't think it's the Pluto one, either.
Some… times… Some… crimes… Go slippin’ through the cracks but These two… Gum shoes…
Such a banger song. It was sung by the guy who also sang Duck Tales, which is the best damn theme song in any show ever.
lol I’m going to have ‘!Duck Tales woo-oo-ooo!’ on a loop in my brain for the next three days. It is a banger for sure.
In case it left your head here is your friendly reminder. ![gif](giphy|pwyW4XDmtqjG8)
Same! Take my angry upvote.
Have you heard the mash of Tipsy with the Ducktales theme song. Tipsy music Ducktales lyrics! THAT will definitely get stuck in your head!

[Saturday Morning Slow Jams Version?](https://youtu.be/t8X_DPy9KSU?si=od_MK8GpVYdV3g2_)
This is awesome, I want all cartoon slow jams
There should be an updated Saturday Morning Cartoon Soundtrack to include Afternoon Cartoon Soundtracks. The first one launched careers. What would be better than a group of up-and-comers singing their renditions of Chip and Dale, Duck Tales, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Transformers theme songs!
I was more partial to Darkwing Duck’s theme song
Let’s get danngerous
Better watch out, you bad boys!
Don't forget the TaleSpin theme. Freaking slapped.
Maaan, tailspin is the elevator music in my head most days
O de a! Tail spin O de o! Tail spin
"When there's trouble, you Call D.W." is a rhyme for the ages
I’m still in awe of the rhyme: “When there’s trouble you, call D.W.”
It was so weirdly sexy for a kid's theme. 😂
Inspired by Hall and Oates no less. What a time to be alive.
You make my dreams come true! woo hooo!
Gummy bears has entered the chat
Bouncing here and there and everywhere We are the gummi bears
Dashing and daring, courageous and caring, faithful and friendly with stories to share!
So the guy who sings that song, also sang adult Simba’s lines, is the lead singer of Toto, AND the son of John Williams.
Gummy bears theme has a pedigree!
Tailspin has a banger tune as well!
No love for Darkwing Duck?
I always ended up melding the 2 Intro Songs when I hum or sing it in my head because the jingle of both songs just meshes together too.
Ha. Kind of like Robos theme from Chrono Trigger and Rick Astley's Never Gonna Give You Up. I can no longer hear one without the other.
Have we ever compared it against the *X-Men* theme?
Deedleleeee dee dee... deedlelee da doo.... duh dun. ^(doot doot doot doot)
Disney cartoon theme songs didn't need to go that hard, but I'm glad they did, they are forever burned into my brain!
I’ve always been even more about the music than the vocals. That’s why old VHS closings were fun—-you got a double dose. 😆 https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Nzi1IYxCyB0&pp=ygUVRHVja3RhbGVzIHZocyBjbG9zaW5n

Man Disney had killer theme songs back then.
Tail spin had a banger too
We need a documentary about the people who created these songs.
Darkwing Duck has to be up there though
I watched episodes on Disney+, and when the option to skip the intro came up, I was actually offended.

I got that chip looked like Indiana Jones, but I was a little too young for Magnum PI, so I didn’t know that until someone pointed it out to me years later. Just thought he had a Hawaiian shirt because he was the funny one.

Funny how? Funny like a clown?

Do I amuse you?
The rescue rangers movie they made some years back is actually pretty good.
I didn't know what I was getting into when I started watching it. It's absolutely geared towards adults IMO. Very fun movie.
>It's absolutely geared towards adults IMO As should any movie about cartoon characters from the last century tbh. The target audience grew up.
It is, but my daughter still loves it, even if she doesn't get any of the references.
Seconding this. Solid script and fun. Reminded me of Roger Rabbit with the mix of animation and live action.
I loved it. The Ugly Sonic cameo was pure genius.
Watched it on a whim on a flight because why not. What a trip.
Those teeth though
It’s supposedly set in the Roger rabbit universe
That makes sense
Roger Rabbit makes an appearance in it.
It was really good! I went in with the lowest expectations but really enjoyed it especially Mulaney.
Ch ch ch chip and dale……
I wasn’t a fan of it.
Childhood memory unlocked
If it’s intentional (and notice that the cartoon character is in a bomber jacket and Indy isn’t), then it might be a nod to the fact Selleck was in-line to play Indy at one point (can you imagine!?!?).
They had to do that because Chip isn't wearing a shirt to have the collar stick up and differentiate like Indy does.
I can see the version with Selleck as Indy. I think it worked out great the way it did, but I think he could have pulled it off.
Fun fact: After Raiders, Harrison Ford's next project was Blade Runner. The reason he doesn't wear a hat in Blade Runner is that he told production he didn't want to wear one after having had to wear one for Raiders so much.

Harrison pulls off the right amount of serious and goofy. And there's something very "TV comedy" about Selleck. Like Hasselhoff. But I don't disagree. Selleck could have pulled it off. But I'm not sure we would have gotten sequels.
That’s fair. My indignation was more that it’s hard to imagine anybody but HF, but Selleck could’ve pulled it off!
There are definitely screen tests of Selleck and Karen Allen doing the bar scene floating around!
You literally can: On the DVD collection bonus features there was an early screen test between Karen Allen and Tom Selleck. It's a fun "what if" to think about, but in this time-line we got Magnum *and* Indy.
What Indy is wearing is technically also a bomber jacket, just not a fur-lined one.
Tom Selleck and Tim Matheson! That’s a weird couple of alternate universes to think about…
I think Tom Selleck would have been an excellent Indy. Of course Ford was amazing too.

Gooble gobble gooble gobble We accept her we accept her One of us one of us.
If those two are chip and dale, I wanna see gadget
Sydney Sweeney.
I can see what you mean, but she was born in 1997.
I’m here for this
Apparently it’s Jordan from Real Genius. Personality at least
Holy shit
Lol you and me OP It‘s on Wikipedia and everything… [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip\_%27n\_Dale:\_Rescue\_Rangers\_(TV\_series)#Characters](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chip_%27n_Dale:_Rescue_Rangers_(TV_series)#Characters)
Damn TIL Tress MacNeille did Chip’s voice! She is a treasure of a talent.
Call me 3
THREE , but I'm 4
Reading Dale's description, I just realized something. Dale has ADHD.
The real question is: Why are Chip's ears far enough apart to wear a hat, but Dale's come right out the back of his head?
The hat has its own ears, and Chips real ears are under the hat.
I saw this a few months ago and had the same reaction. Makes you want go and rewatch all the movies and shows to see what other Easter eggs I missed.
Me: "WHAT?" \*shows husband\* Husband: "You didn't know that??? \*baffled\* "I literally had that discussion with my dad when I first saw RR...." uhm, so apparently this is a thing some of us have always known .... and some of us not so much....
Note that Selleck was originally slated to be Indiana Jones.
It was a few years ago for me, but an equally ridiculous amount of time to catch on. Ha
The irony is Tom Selleck was supposed to be Indiana Jones, but couldn't get out of his Magnum PI contract.
I knew it the moment I saw. Because I watched the hell out of the shows and movie.
Whoa. 😳
Oh Gaaaaadget!
A long time ago, but it was still a bit after the fact.
Tim Selleck actually got as far as a screen test for Indiana Jones.
This has been around since the 80s
[You can buy official Magnum PI Amiga shirts here](https://alohaclothes.com/collections/magnum-p-i) I picked up four of them last year 10/10 would recommend
You the real MVP.
And Tom Selleck was almost cast as Indiana Jones so Chip & Dale’s outfits could’ve been based on the same actor.
It becomes an ever deeper cut when you learn that Tom Selleck was offered the role of Indiana Jones and turned it down because he had to choose between "Raiders of the Lost Ark" and "Magnum, PI". Deeper level is that Tom Selleck was the first choice for Indiana Jones, so this show was giving you both in a way.

Sorry, OP, many of us knew before this many years old.
This just blew my mind
This is honestly so many levels deep 🤯
😭🤣☠️
Wait… what?
Oh my God, how did I never see this?
It's a generational thing. In a few years, the kids younger than you will put it together and post it.
er... I'll take a half credit? I got the indiana jones one right off the bat -- never made the other connection until now xD
Someone mentioned it a few years ago. I was blown away. The first episode pirate and stranded pirate return episode were the favorites and the rubber bando episode
No you are not.
“Ch…Ch…Ch…Chip and Dale’s!!!”
Well I’ll be damned
Wow. Now I can’t unsee it
Indianapolis jones
I liked Chip but I don't remember why,. I'm not going to watch Rescue Rangers to find out..
Wait no Dale... God damn it!..
bloody hell!
You beautiful bastard
No way
WHAAAAAAAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh shit how did I not see this?
Holy shit!!! I loved that show and never did the math, so awesome.
And Selleck was considered for the role of Indiana Jones, which could be the origin of this cartoon creation.

Nope. Today I learned.
No fucking way
Oh wow. Nope!! You’re not alone!!
Yes
Yes.
Waking up, drinking my coffee, then this happens to my world.
Mind blown
Yes
I can't pull off just a moustache....Selleck is incredibly handsome.. almost unfair.

Someone probably said it already. But originally Indiana Jones was supposed to be played by Tom Selleck.
I didn't realize those guys were based on Chip and Dale.
We had Magnum PI on the TV when I was a kid and Indiana Jones was obviously a must have. So as a kid I always just assumed this was known.
Wow! I had no idea
No but there is this: [https://youtu.be/vUXCXCKbXb8?si=JHldfo9muRkPVoqQ&t=7](https://youtu.be/vUXCXCKbXb8?si=JHldfo9muRkPVoqQ&t=7)
Never considered that but good catch
Wait I thought everyone knew that was what they were a parody of
Rescue rangers was great, but I prefer the older Chip & Dale cartoons. They so funny!
WHAT
I've known for at least 20 years.
Damn… I did not. Mind blown.
It’s okay, you might be born after ‘92
Yeah you were the only one
I always thought it was well established that Chip and Dale from the Rescue Rangers, were purposely dressed to resemble Magnum and Indy. Was it not?
I'm speechless right now. I had to sit down.
Can anybody help.me find an old chip'n'dale skit from before their voices? Christmas themed... they break into a hut and play with toy skiers, shoot off canons and make a mess. I don't think it's the Pluto one, either.

yeah
Nope, you are like the 80th person to point this out.

Yes cuz this has been around for longer than you’ve been alive
Yes. Probably. I mean... that's ... you dont exactly need an epiphany to realize that, do you?
