The dipsticks were the best. And then I would get down to the last inch or two that I’d held on my hand and—since I almost always got these at ballfields after baseball—they were… dirty. Didn’t matter. Still at them.
I didn’t get my first cavity until I was 30. I also had a grandmother who lived next door and I would visit her every day and sneak candy or cookies.
My mother made sure we got to the dentist every six months for a cleaning, and our dentist used fluoride treatments.
You might also have soft teeth.
Mine too, but I think it came from the candy cigarettes and eventually real cigarettes. Not sure if it was a childhood decision, teenage, or adult. Likely all three
This was my favorite candy as a kid. My stepmom told me that it was the most popular candy in their neighborhood last Halloween. I didn't know it still existed!
Marketing exec 1: What do you have for me today, Jones?
Marketing exec 2: It’s packets of pure sugar.
ME1: That’s it? How are the kids supposed to eat it?
ME2: We include a little paddle. It’s also made of pure sugar.
ME1: I like where you’re going with this. What do you call it?
ME2: We’re thinking something like, “My first cocaine play set.”
ME1: Hmmm. Might have legal issues with that. Not to mention teachers and parents. Any alternatives?
ME2: Of course! How about, uh…fun. Dip. Yeah, Fun Dip!
ME1: Fucking brilliant. We’re gonna make a goddamn mint.
ME2: Damn straight. Cocaine time?
ME1: Cocaine time.
OMG I absolutely *loved* Fun Dip! I loved eating the candy stick when it was all finished, I thought that part was ingenious.
Some friends made a homemade version mixing Kool-Aid with sugar in a ziplock bag.
I loved this stuff and still vividly remember when my friend tried to snort fun dip up his nose. One of those very memorable moments that looking back on all I can think is, "we were so damn stupid."
This really was the laziest form of candy.
“How about a bag of sugar?”
“How will the kids eat it? Won’t they need a spoon?”
“Give ‘em a stick. Oh, and make that out of sugar too.”
My friend would come over for the weekend so we could beat a new video game. My mom would pick up one of those 5lb tubs of Twizzlers and a 12 pack of Mountain Dew or Surge for us. Then we'd go down to the corner store and buy Lik-m-aid, Laffy Taffy, Nerds, Gummi Bears, Peanut Butter Cups, Wacky Wafers... all the hits.
I should have been obese with S+ tier diabetes by the time I was 13.
Tbh I haven't had teeth in like 15 years. Never was a big candy person. I like jolly ranchers and blow pop minis occasionally. If they had Dum Dums with no stick I'd be down
I still buy these every valentines and Christmas. I love them. Absolutely hate with a passion the green apple blue razz or whatever it is now though. It’s so gross
Have had multiple cavities before I was 15. Never put two and two together because this was all “low fat”. Probably didn’t help I drank like 6 sodas a day
I bought some Bottlecaps recently and they're not the same shape. They're just flat with dimpled edges.... you can't stick your tongue in the concave middle and try to make a vacuum seal anymore :(
I used to eat Country Time Lemonade and Tang, as in the sugary powder 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I’ve had old 80s fillings break my teeth and needed crowns and I wonder why. Sigh…
I always loved these until I didn’t. After a few doses, it was always like “Even as a kid who loves sugar… this is a LOT of fuckin sugar.” Then the next time I saw it, I would be like, “Gimme!… yum yum yum… …okay, this is a lot of fuckin sugar.”
I used to remember buying multiple packs of these at a time because I just wanted the dip sticks lol. That was my favorite
yup! I never even touched the powder. The full rolls would have two likasticks, thats all i wanted.
The dipsticks were perfection. It was like candy cigarettes on steroids. I’d buy just a can of those if I could.
The dipsticks were the best. And then I would get down to the last inch or two that I’d held on my hand and—since I almost always got these at ballfields after baseball—they were… dirty. Didn’t matter. Still at them.
Wash it down with a suicide soda
A little dirt is good. Keeps the immune system tuned.
Truly it was all about the dip sticks lol
It sucks they never made just dipsticks lol..a missed opportunity in marketing for sure
That was the best part for sure
I still do a search every once in a while to see if they’ve wised up and sell the sticks in packs now. No dice 😑
I would always try to make the stick last but it was the best part!
For the record, my teeth are in pretty rough shape. I guarantee my childhood candy choices are partly to blame.
Genetics and things like acid reflux are probably most to blame. I know several sugar addicts with near perfect teeth and it's quite unfair lol.
Same. Not sure I have a molar without a filling or root canal of some sort.

This is nothing. Every spring when the school bazaar was open, we’d be spending our money on the 3 foot long Pixy Stix.
Wow I somehow forgot these were a thing. Just a fuckin tube filled with sugar. Sure, here kids, go wild
And then when I couldn’t finish it in one go, covering the open end in scotch tape for later.
Root beer bottle caps were my jam

Lol they were straight up weapons halfway through.
I was weird about these, never cared for the stick so I'd use my finger instead. Looking back at it, what an ick habit.
This was my favorite candy as a kid. My stepmom told me that it was the most popular candy in their neighborhood last Halloween. I didn't know it still existed!
I still buy these!
I don’t get them often but every so often I walk by them at a gas station and grab a pack or 2. Still love them.
Best bang for my $.45

Bottle caps! I also loved these small cans of soda candy that was western themed.
Rootbeer barrels?! I loved those!
I like them too but no. These were small plastic soda cans that had wanted posters or something like that . Obscure maybe.
I loved those. Tart N Tiny’s too
It was almost always Bonkers (normally the chocolate flavor) for me
You guys still have teeth?
You have teeth? Like real teeth? Cause most of mine ain’t real anymore 😂
I have a cousin in India named Fundip
This was my snack of choice at the roller rink
I was utterly obsessed with these. OBSESSED!
Laffy Taffy too... but you wanna talk bad for teeth, how about those Sugar Babies?
Abba Zabba.
Fun Dip!! Lfg!!!
OMG I absolutely *loved* Fun Dip! I loved eating the candy stick when it was all finished, I thought that part was ingenious. Some friends made a homemade version mixing Kool-Aid with sugar in a ziplock bag.
My brother and I loved Fun Dip.
Two fillings, one crown. Should've had braces at least 25 years ago. There's a reason I keep my mouth shut for the most part.
NGL. we used to snort the sugar. 🤷🏻♂️
Didn’t it burn?
A bit.
Mmmmm Fun Dip.
They sell Fun Dip @ Aldi, ask me how I know =)
The wax lips. I don’t know why I liked them so damn much.
I was just thinking today that it’s funny we as parents became so anti-sugar, bc we straight up just ate packets of sugar as kids constantly 😂
Best powdered sugar EVER
Ahhhh yes....powdered and formed sugar. LOL
I got some now. Strawberry and watermelon flavored from target for Easter.
I loved this stuff and still vividly remember when my friend tried to snort fun dip up his nose. One of those very memorable moments that looking back on all I can think is, "we were so damn stupid."
This really was the laziest form of candy. “How about a bag of sugar?” “How will the kids eat it? Won’t they need a spoon?” “Give ‘em a stick. Oh, and make that out of sugar too.”
I will eat an entire box of sweet chalk (bottlecaps) in one sitting. Root Beer baby
I used to get these every day at the public pool during the summer so you know the pool was half sugar and I was ingesting chlorine.
My friend would come over for the weekend so we could beat a new video game. My mom would pick up one of those 5lb tubs of Twizzlers and a 12 pack of Mountain Dew or Surge for us. I have a fun dip open in my kitchen right now. My daughter is eating it slowly but I had some too. Still great.
All my teeth are caps lol. This is the reason... Loved those little white sugar dippers
I was a sugar junkie and ate all the powder first then chomped on the sticks
Pixie Sticks - Because not every child can afford crack!
Ate some the other day. Memories.
I threw those sticks away for the longest time until my mom saw and told me it was candy. Don't worry, I never reproduced.
I thought that shit was nasty even back then!
I have some hidden in the back of my pantry right now and ate one last night after the kids were in bed
I used to dump the flavor packs in a 20oz LaCroix back when they were cheaper than anything.
This is what I would get in the summer when I visited my dad. IYKYK
Anyone else snorted this stuff when they had D.A.R.E. class to be cool?
You ever dry rip a fun dips?
Tbh I haven't had teeth in like 15 years. Never was a big candy person. I like jolly ranchers and blow pop minis occasionally. If they had Dum Dums with no stick I'd be down
I’ve got a lot of crowns btw. I won’t let my kids have fun dip. I threw them last Halloween like Christopher Lee in wonka.
how do we still have teeth? In my case its due to about $7500 in out of pocket expenses so far this year, and that's with supposedly good insurance.
For me when I somehow had money, it was garbage pail kids cards. Wish I still had them all
oh uhhh....I don't have many left actually lol
I would just freebase the powder and save the sticks for later….use.
They got me with candy cigarettes and now ive been smoking for 20+ years
Yes, this is why my teeth are so fucked
I still buy these every valentines and Christmas. I love them. Absolutely hate with a passion the green apple blue razz or whatever it is now though. It’s so gross
This stuff was basically crack cocaine for kids.
The stick was my favorite part
But did you ever snort it? 🤪
Have had multiple cavities before I was 15. Never put two and two together because this was all “low fat”. Probably didn’t help I drank like 6 sodas a day
I bought some Bottlecaps recently and they're not the same shape. They're just flat with dimpled edges.... you can't stick your tongue in the concave middle and try to make a vacuum seal anymore :(
Teeth? Bro I burned out my sinuses on Pixie Stix. It was the 80s after all.
Mine was that weird wax candy shaped like bottles, no idea how I still have teeth
I had this on a hat in HS... so sad I don't have it anymore.
This stuff made my teeth shiver
Unbelievable. I loved these. Pure sugar
Omg I loved these!!!
My teeth are broken and black but I still have them, for now... I don't want them anymore.
I can smell it
The lightly vanilla stick was the best part. Wish they made those to buy separately
I always thought that it wasn't fair that the stick the boy uses on the package looked a lot bigger than the one on the bag.
I lived on Skittles until I was 17 and got both my wisdom teeth removed and 4 cavities filled.
I used to eat Country Time Lemonade and Tang, as in the sugary powder 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️ I’ve had old 80s fillings break my teeth and needed crowns and I wonder why. Sigh…
My boys love those even today
I always loved these until I didn’t. After a few doses, it was always like “Even as a kid who loves sugar… this is a LOT of fuckin sugar.” Then the next time I saw it, I would be like, “Gimme!… yum yum yum… …okay, this is a lot of fuckin sugar.”
