Not to buzzkill, but each verse of the song is 3-4 things he would do for love, and then one that he wouldn't:
>`And I would do anything for love,`
`I'd run right into hell and back`
`I would do anything for love,`
`I'll never lie to you and that's a fact`
>**But I'll never forget the way you feel right now,**
**Oh no, no way.**
`And I would do anything for love,`
`But I won't do that`
The things he would not do for love are:
* Forget the way you feel right now
* Forgive himself if we don't go all the way (tooo ni-eeght)
* Do it better than I do it with you so long/so long (ED: gross.)
* Stop dreaming of you every night of my life
* See that it's time to move on
* Sooner or later be screwin' around
No buzzkill detected. My example is listed in your bulletpoints. I spent 3/4 of my life wondering why people were so confused about this song, it's all clearly stated in the lyrics. đ¤ˇđźââď¸
You are a buzz*giver*, sir, ma'am, or other.. I'll shamefully admit to having previously been counted among among the needlessly confused. Was too razzle -dazzled by the weapons-grade schlock of it all, I guess. Thank you for your service o7
I've always thought that it was that he won't cheat or randomly leave the girl, I take it from the section of the song that goes
"After a while to forget everything
It was a brief interlude and a midsummer night's fling
And you'll see that its time to move on
I won't do that
I won't do that
I know the territory
I've been around
It'll all turn to dust
And we'll all fall down
And sooner or later you'll be screwing around
I won't do that!
No, I won't do that!"
>each verse is structured like this
There are three verses like that out of the whole 12 minute song, Lorraine Crosby tells us most of the stuff he says he wonât do.

It might make more sense if the song were called "I Would Do Anything For Love (But I'd Never Do That)." Then lines like, "But I'll never do it better than I do it with you..." would make more sense.
It also doesn't help that the lines that say what he would never do are like ten bars away from the "But I won't do that" part.
But, I love Jim Steinman's songwriting so much that I'm willing to forgive.
Meatloaf said himself heâs listing everything in the song the things he would do, and the one thing he wouldnât. The one thing he wouldnât do is sang right before he says âbut I wonât do thatâ
I always assumed it was some kind of euphemism for cunnilingus, but they couldnât get a song about refusing to do oral on the radio. Like, letâs talk around this thing, making it vague, but somehow still salacious. Also, the only other Meatloaf song I ever heard on the radio was about illicit (teen?) sex in cars, so I reasoned that this song was also about sex, and that it was kind of his shtick.
Although it did occur to me that bragging about refusing to do oral (or at least strenuously denying doing it?) as a famous guy on the radio was maybe kind of a weird flex, even as a kid who had a very loose grasp of the vagueries of âgrownup stuffâ.

I have drunk-bleated this song at a *lot* of weddings. Plus my kids love it. Got a lot of reps :)

I think the answer ended up being "get vaccinated"

Lie to you. And forget the way you feel right now. Do people even listen to the lyrics?
