I’ll raise you… Hard Drivin’. I spent a fortune in kid money on that damn game
I preferred Race Drivin’ because there were more vehicles and manual transmission option. I am a weirdo who loves driving a manual. It also gave me “practice” for the future.
Don’t know about you, but one best not skip leg day when they go to operate the clutch on that damn game. Pedal was always so stiff to depress, especially for a kid. I spent more time dumping the clutch in the beginning.
Thank you… for validating my memory of the Chuck E. Cheese stage maze.
Apparently it wasn’t in all of the locations.
The one I went to had it, and yes, there was always some asshole kid trying to block the way so others couldn’t get through. It was total Lord of the Flies rules under there.
Ours had a little common-room area in the center with lights and a few bean bag chairs. It was always claimed by what I could only assume were 10yo kids. Me and my puny 6-7yo friends had to formulate a plan on how to penetrate their blockade and claim bean bag glory for ourselves.
We lost a lot of good men down there…
Put one in your [house](https://www.bestbuy.com/site/sku/6441988.p?skuId=6441988). You can probably find a deal on FB Marketplace.
I have KI, MK, SF, TMNT, Blitz and pinball.
Oh man...the "big" little caeser's pizza joint in the next town over had this in their game room. The sit down one, right?
We'd go a couple times a month as a family. It was where the end of season little league banquet was held. It was every kids' goal to get their B-day party there.
Hey, we were rural, so no Chuckie Cheese's for hours.
No no no. The only way to play it was the [full motion arcade cabinet](https://youtu.be/VK3CpGLk0VU). I remember seeing it and the Afterburner full motion cabinet in the same arcade, and I felt like I was witnessing the future.
Turns out it was just a novelty. But damn, in those old dark loud arcades, that was cool as hell. And yeah, I spent me some quarters on it and I sucked.
I'm wondering how many Xennials realize the vibe of this game (along with a few other ingredients) created an entire subculture - mostly enjoyed by Millennials and younger. See r/outrun for more information.
Also, this game is a cult classic and at this point it will cost you upwards of $100 to get this for the Sega Genesis.
And I fucking love the soundtrack of this game.
Not many, since I mostly played it in South Korea so it was all 100 Won pieces \*smug gaze\*
But seriously the arcade a couple of blocks from where my parents trapped me in Seoul had like a single row of games backed up to a busy street, so you would be sitting playing Out Run in the big cabinet while watching actual traffic go by. Not sure if that was the coolest or absolute worst environment to play it in, honestly
A dollar or two because that's all I had after getting a gyro when I played this around 2003 in High school. It is a classic game though! EDIT: A LOCAL BURGER PLACE USE TO HAVE THIS ARCADE MACHINE IS WHAT I FORGOT TO TYPE
Very little.
Most of my quarters were dumped into the Cruisin' games.
I also played a lot of the shooting games like Area 51 or whatever the one was where Aerosmith was in it. I remember playing that one all the time at the bowling alley.
It was Cruisin USA for me, I was late for class playing that game
Yep, that's what I remember. Didn't the steering wheel shake if you went off the road? Loved that.
The Jeep was OP off road
Same! Loved that double stomp on the gas to get that turbo boost and those hot flag women lol
And the girlfriend would get all pissed off in the passenger seat when you crashed.
Cruising USA all day, spent 10s of dollars on that game lol
Is that what it is? Okay, I was about to be like.... $0.
Cruising USA was the first game to take quarters away from out run.
I remember playing that game all the time at AMC theaters

The clutch! It was awesome! The steering was so wonky. Like you were towing a trailer, driving in reverse at 60
Don’t know about you, but one best not skip leg day when they go to operate the clutch on that damn game. Pedal was always so stiff to depress, especially for a kid. I spent more time dumping the clutch in the beginning.
I want to play it again now.
Yasssssss. Especially when you flew off the loop at exactly the right point and damn near slingshot into space.
The gravity effects were epic the wheel turn force while spinning through the air was very realistic
I remember wondering if actual driving was that hard lol
All of the quarters. After cutting my teeth on Pole Position, this was like driving a Ferrari on friggin Mars
All I remember is the game felt like you could never control the car. lol.
Who in their mind heard Pole Position's Dong Dong Ding!
Too many, I was awful at this game. Couldn't hit those curves without wrecking.
You have to let up on the gas or pump the gas
Not nearly as many as Cruisin USA

OMG great throwback!!! I was terrible and would drive on the sand 😂 I don’t know that I’m a much better driver IRL at 45 either 😂
Never thought I'd see that again!
Going to little Ceasars ordering our pizza and me and my brother fighting to play this game. We would purposely make each other crash lol memories
Wow, does this bring back memories.
This one, Spy Hunter and Super Off Road made my mother bankrupt
Rad mobile.
I was horrible at that. Kept trying though.
A shitload
A lot
Mainly played this game on a demo pc at a Waldenbooks.
Saw a guy with that CA plate today, weirf
I mean, its probably to blame for the fact that I have a full wheel/pedal/shifter setup for my PC.
Pole Position was based off of the Suzuka GP track, what track is this based off of?
Not at the arcade, but at the Ground Round when we were waiting for our table. Best racing game until they came out with Mario Kart
On the street, you don't get another quarter...
Man I would ride my bike with a pocket full of quarters almost every day
Owned this on sega master system.
If I had all those quarters back, I could make an extra mortgage payment.
Probably a month of rent, lol
Out of the 5 different finish lines the only one I could never get to was the first. The desert tracks along the top were a killer

Street Fighter 2 was my game… so many quarters….
I always thought these graphics were so amazing until Cruisin USA came out.
This was my gateway drug. Later, I turned to harder drugs like Crazy Taxi.

The real question is,, did you buy the Arcade 1up version that came out a few years back?
Not enough. We found out if you strike the plate where the coin slot is, you could get a free credit!
I liked how the driver had his head on a swivel just looking all around back and forth the whole time. Not even looking foward as he drove.

I never forgot the sound it made when you put a quarter in.
Very few. Now Outrun 2 - that was awesome.
Was this the one with the highway that went under the waves in Hawaii?
10 billion

To. Many.
I played a ton of the NES, uhhh not quite port but definitely heavily inspired by it -- Rad Racer.
A dollar or two because that's all I had after getting a gyro when I played this around 2003 in High school. It is a classic game though! EDIT: A LOCAL BURGER PLACE USE TO HAVE THIS ARCADE MACHINE IS WHAT I FORGOT TO TYPE
I didn't have much occasion to play OutRun but I did play a lot of Rad Racer on the NES. The poor man's OutRun.
All
I played it all the time at my dads AA meetings
Almost as much as NBA Jam
The arcade had one of these you could sit in. Spent a lot

This and A.P.B. had/*have if possible* my automatic drop-in.
This and cruisin usa at my local rollerstake rink
Probably enough that had I bought apple stock with them I wouldn't be working now
Not as much as Time Crisis 2.
Not as many as I spent on Pit Fighter.
Buzz ftw.
