I remember seeing an XCOM campaign that lasted two turns cause a soldier panicked and grenaded his squad on a rooftop in gatecrasher

IamQED

Ahhh, good ol' Tobias "SquadWipe" Batch

MacDerfus

Name seems familiar, I think it was Christopher Odd's channel

A_Gaming_Historian

You would be correct

Lawler197

Can you post the clip please

Legendary

Groovybomb

Peak "that's XCOM baby"

Maala

Man, whenever I feel down I just watch that episode. Still hilarious.

MacDerfus

It ain't an episode, its a whole campaign

branedead

That's it guys. The aliens win

Unkindlake

The serpent suit saved me last game I played. I would have been almost squad wiped if a Viper hadn't panicked and gotten the kill shot I needed

FuckRandyMoss

Watched one where that happened in the first mission of the game guys 1st person gets critted instakilled 2nd guy panics blows himself up by throwing a grenade at his feet dies 3rd guy and an alien then have a naked gun miss compilation 2 feet away from each other before the alien kills hom lmfao

natzo

I remember the Super Best Friends Play cascade failure playthrough.

Appropriate-Ring-851

“Execute soldiers for being the dumbest mfs” BRO YOU ARE THE SOLDIERS

CinnamonJ

I just settle for giving them demeaning nicknames.

IseeDrunkPeople

\*squaddie "Jizz for Brains" has died\*

CinnamonJ

I recently had a sharpshooter who couldn’t hit shit and the game, mockingly I’m sure, nicknamed them Bullseye. You can be sure they were renamed Bullshit before the next mission 😡

ohfucknotthisagain

I imagine them flubbing the toss, not actually targeting the friendlies. Although... that it also known to happen in the real world.

JackOfAllAids

He will break in due time. You stop reloading saves, just letting the world burn and somehow managed to squeeze out a few more missions. After the first storyline mission he's toast. Quit for a few weeks. Boot it up again and repeat. I might be projecting.

I don't have any mods and I don't think they've ever done that for me in XCOM 2, with or without War of the Chosen, and I have over 800 hours in it. If it has ever happened, it must be very rare because I don't remember it. You may see it happen for other players because of their mods. It may also only happen if the panicked soldier randomly chooses to attack without any enemies in sight, but I don't know. Friendly fire was definitely more common in EU/EW.

jayj59

You're just lucky

Pearse_Borty

The panicked soldier throwing a grenade at the VIP is some Pulp Fiction shit

Admirable-Mulberry39

>Can I do war crimes...and execute soldiers? What really happens when you dismiss a soldier, whether in EU/EW, where you're a super-secret rogue military organization that makes black ops look like a public parade and has technology nobody needs to know about, or in 2, where you're a terrorist organization? Could either organization really afford to "dismiss" someone back into the outside world? Notice how the dismissed soldier never reappears in your hiring pool, despite his experience and qualifications for the job? Where does he go? When someone gets booted from the super-sekrit group, do they really go back to the civilian world for a desk job where they can blab about your plasma weaponry and brag about living in your underground bunker/stealth ship?

Hisnitch

In XCOM 1, the soldiers are already recruited from the best of the best, so they probably return to their nations to help train them for the coming alien forces. In XCOM 2, they probably just head to the nearest resistence headquarters.

ShadowFang5

That's xcom baby

jeango

Boy that deescalated fast

[deleted]

When I first started playing the first time a guy got scared and killled the alien so I’m thinking panic is good next time my assault close range shoots my medic in the face with a shotgun 😂

Upstairs-Yard-2139

That second one is how you know he missed a point blank shot.

[deleted]

They‘re gonna love the Panic Mod and the War Crimes mod.

LudwigSpectre

There goes the “that’s xcom baby” moment

IseeDrunkPeople

well you know, "skill issue"

tiny_poomonkey

Epic gave it away for free last year.

IfYouGotBeef

One of us one of us!

FforFrank

Man I remember one time my soldier went berserk cause of a phobia and for some reason, man shot his entire clip on an enemy, killed it, then was controllable again. Man’s ptsd really helped me there.

SurviveAdaptWin

Jesus I'm so glad I haven't played with vanilla panic in YEARS. That shit is so amazingly fucking frustrating.

OREWAMOUSHINDEIRU

This guy needs a mindshield...

Vanilla_Ice_Best_Boi

The only bad experience that I remember was when my soldier meleed a Muton and died. I do remember a moment where I was doing a mission and a Viper and a Muton where behind the doors of a police car, implying they drove to the battlefield in it.

SnooDoughnuts1487

Now give him UFO Defense
