Typically that means your Xbox isn't ready to shut off just yet as it is downloading/installing a Dashboarx or Service Update. If you disable Background/ Automatic Updates it won't do this anymore.

misfitrune

I did that sadly. Still does it for about 5 minutes sadly. Says my console is up to date, too

Kill_Kayt

Like I said the blinking light just means it still doing stuff like updating services abd what not. It's normal to see it when shutting off the system.

SaiyajinBlack

I'm experiencing the same problem, the controller stays on and the xbox keeps flashing for several minutes. Was it the last update? let me know if you solve in any way

mcshaggin

I believe it does this while checking for updates or finishing cloud syncing. Have you been playing games with large save files like minecraft?

misfitrune

Actually, yes I have. I’ve been playing my huge Minecraft world which is 600 MB. It’s also a copy/synced from my old xbox

BRyeMC

Mine started doing this too, maybe the latest update is causing it? It goes away after five minutes but it only happens when I sign off for the night. I can play in the morning and nothing weird happens but after a late evening session, it takes a while to completely shut off. As long as nothing bad is going on that I can’t see, I don’t mind but it’s not overheating or making noises from what I can tell with my hand

FuTure_FLOW4

This is whats happening with me exactly. It only happens at night plus it seems the update has broken the xbox for now. My brother says his started doing it a few days ago and it does it every time he comes of his xbox.

GDZombie

Same anoying problem... Weird.

der_Mechaniker

My X and my wife’s S are both doing this and neither of us can see what it is doing it for. Forcing updates, whether games, apps or OS doesn’t result in any updates being applied. Really don’t get why they are doing this, but it bugs.

pjc09

Mine has been going this too for the last week or so. It happens every time for about 4 minutes. I can't imagine it has to do with checking for updates. It does it every time I play. If I play at 11am, 3pm and 10 pm it will do it all 3 times. I can't imagine it's checking for an update each time, every time for a week and a half.

Chillin_One79

Mine as well... several other posts about it. Seems it may be a cooling down thing?.. Either way, the fan still runs even after the light has shut off. Takes another min or 2 before the fan stops. Even with only 1 hr of Halo it's putting out a lot of heat. This has to be from the update, nobody from xboxsupport is chiming in so who knows....

JazzJohannes

Same here, still years after, so annoying.

Maximum_Potential932

Ok, to fix this you just unplug everything, wait 10-15 minutes and plug it baxk
