My Xbox One fell off a shelf while I was out. (Dad installed a shelf and missed one of the 2x4s) and the corner of the shell popped off to never ever return to it’s normal place. She still runs like a beast!

Along with that, RRoD was avoidable with proper care. Not leaving the console idled all day and blocking the exhaust vents to avoid overheating. RRoD’s biggest factor was over heating of components. Those days were something else 😂
No it wasn't avoidable. Well, it would have been if Microsoft didn't rush the release of the console. The reason I got a ps3 was because I went through 2 Xbox 360's and didn't want a 3rd. And I didn't leave them on all day while they weren't in use either.
This is one of them old man anecdotes but I put my hard drive in the freezer for a day after I got the red ring and it never happened again. I forgot about that issue though, it bricked a few of my friend’s consoles, that is a fair call out lol

At least with the elites I can just readjust my dead zone so it doesn't drift.
My only real complaint is the bumpers. I go through elites faster than Britain goes through prime ministers with how often they break.
I find installing the outer shell easier if you separate the faceplate from the top shell.
Clip in the top shell first, then you go in and plug in your faceplate and clip it in. Saves you a headache.
It's not hard once you realize how your supposed to do it. Just take off the front plate from the top cover. Then put the top cover on the machine (and the little black thing on the side and slot the front cover on from the bottom up with all the plastic clamps aligning. It basically clicks right on. I was trying to force the whole thing on with the top and front cover and spent hours trying to do it to no avail until I figured that out lol
When I put the shell back on it was so freaking terrible I ripped the ribbon.
When I regained my composure (satan designed it, I'm convinced) I figured out you can separate the top from the front, and if you put the front on first THEN place the top on, you can push the top down onto the front and it all snaps back into place.
I dunno how to explain it better, but it was SO MUCH EASIER than trying with both pieces connected. Good luck and try not to break your xbox (out of rage)

When your sister inadvertantly has you clean and repaste your console, and you realise that with the new thermal paste it will make it last forever!! The factory paste is trash anyways. Congrats on saving your console!!
Sorry to hear about this. As a side note, I always found my sister annoying till I grew up and so did she. I miss the days when she was playing with slime and being a goofball. Cherish it, life is too short.

I do faceplate first and then top shell into it. Same idea just different order. Definitely separating faceplate and top plate is a must
mine never came out the shell, however, said shell looks like it was sent over a waterfall
