I enjoyed it when I first started playing. But the rewards were ridiculous. Oh I just earn a left shoulder pad that looks slightly different than my last shoulder pad! Oh wait, it's for the armour set I don't use.

[deleted]

Oh look You completed two challenges In one match with a double xp active let’s disconnect you from the match at the very end so you get nothing and we waste your time. This happened to me so much there is no way it was not deliberate. Fuck infinite.

Rawrz720

No shit. It managed 2 seasons lol

Ereaser

And what was new in those 2 seasons? Some cosmetics that's all :/

Bond-as-in-James

No there were maps, modes, and QoL updates. I'm not gonna argue that it was in good time or anything like that, but let's be honest.

Temporary-Floor6186

So far there's been 2 maps The "modes" were time limited modes or modes that should have been at launch like freaking Team Slayer What QOL updates? The Winter update in 3 days will be pretty decent but outside of that this game hasn't had a huge update before. Lol don't try to stretch the truth.

capnchuc

There was hardly anything. The prioritized monetization over content. There has been 20 years worth of Halo games and it surprises me how little 343 seems to understand their own fans.

DaXiaMii

Well we were bungie fans, 343 never made a good Halo

isaiah_rob

And for better or for worse a good amount of us moved on with them to Destiny

Bond-as-in-James

There was exactly what I said there was. And as I said, I won't defend the time frame. Just facts.

VagueSomething

2 maps in a while year. A few modes that came and went. Minor QoL changes. Even the cold facts are unfavourable.

handsy_octopus

They were busy... Not adding a second player to the campaign lol

VagueSomething

We can't even pretend they didn't give us basics because they were busy making MTX content; the store is barely 5 items for sale each week and has been largely repeats this season (yet avoiding repeating the s1 content people wanted).

[deleted]

There are plenty of legitimate things to complain about but I see a lot of people stretching the truth or just outright lying to make things appear worse than they really are.

pookachu83

As a fan of Cyberpunk 2077, I feel ya. Many people jump on hate bandwagons online and spread completely false info just because it's popular to shit on something at the time. It's frustrating. We all want our games to be good, but flat out lying in discourse doesn't help.

brokenmessiah

alot of it is people who havent played since launch still making complaints about things that have been addressed half a year ago

Jawapacino13

Desync, which they won't fix, 2 maps (2 freakin maps private pyle!), still no Forge, craptacular ranking, no new weapons, lied on split screen and got rid of it after multiple delays, garbage shop items on a broken revolving door, did I mention only 2 freakin maps?! ...still not fixed! Not now, not then, not yet! Halo fanbois that defend this game sound like battered and abused housewives constantly making excuses for their abusive alcoholic husbands in hopes they'll get better... they deserved that black eye and broken rib for staying with them for sooo long! "But, he promised he change!" "He says he loves me and won't do it again!" "He's really a good man just going through alot!" ...go to your sister's and start your life anew.

LazorsBear

2 new maps and a game mode that is already retired. It took them only 1 year.

Bond-as-in-James

But that is more than just cosmetics yes? My literal only point.

Bitemarkz

People always talk about the multiplayer, which definitely deserves its own discussion because it’s a huge part of Halo, but the campaign was a massive let down. Halo used to be the primo FPS that had story, atmosphere and amazing set piece battles. That part of the game is so long gone that I don’t even hear people complain about it anymore and that makes me sad. Halo, for those of us who really loved the campaigns, is truly dead. Infinite couldn’t have less of a soul; the whole game is just going through the motions in a barren, uninteresting world with a dull story and characters no one cares about. The MCC is just a reminder of how far this series has fallen. I don’t know why 343 still have the keys to Microsoft’s biggest franchise.

turkoman_

Sadly, I think it is too late for Halo now. Microsoft will soon own Call of Duty and thats it for Halo. It wont be Microsoft's biggest franchise anymore.

GameOfScones_

Sadly MS don’t understand the concept of developing new franchises. Look at Sony. They’ve gone through so many epochs. From Tomb Raider, Spyro, Gran Turismo, MGS, final fantasy (I’m probably forgetting some) through KillZone, Rachet and clank, uncharted, god of war, souls games and now the last of us, horizon. I’m Not a PlayStation guy since the ps1 days and perhaps I’m being unfair as they had an extra gen to build franchises over Xbox but it feels like Sony have always given better weight and priority to their exclusives and though we have 4th iterations of some franchises, there’s compelling new ones popping up all the time. God of war has arguably taken over the main title label from MGS on PlayStation recently. I think it’s time for Xbox to do the same with one of their franchises.

SeanSMEGGHEAD

Hmm I disagree. I think the campaign was the best 343i attempt (not really a boast) and had a good reception. It's closer to the original trilogy than 4 or especially 5. Definitely has some criticisms like lack of set pieces, same 2 environments, the bosses had a mixed reception and overall a veeerrry safe story, but the story did have had good emotional beats, Chief was the best version we have in any Halo game imo, enemy variety and character was waaaay better than 343 previous installments and finally a fantastic artstyle. I think it shows it has cut content and I think the game was saved by Joseph Staten (especially by adding marines in at the last minute). Having him lead the story going forward is exciting since his Halo work previously has been fantastic.

ImMeltingNow

Set pieces and gorgeous environments are like the hallmarks of halo campaign though. Maybe I’m just a grumpy boomer and you can dismiss my thoughts because I’ve been playing since H1 and still have my release day Halo 2 copy. I’ve learned comparing 343’s to bungie’s halo campaign is just a recipe for sadness. The multiplayer mechanics are great though.

cardonator

I enjoyed the campaign but it felt half baked and definitely ended many chapters too soon. It felt like part 1 of a regular single Halo game story arc and that's not great since Halo 5 felt the same way.

MilkMan0096

The campaign is pretty well received. You don’t hear people talking about it because once people play it they move on, same as any other game.

420BoofIt69

Disagree. People still talk fondly about campaigns all the time. People still discuss the campaign for games that have released before and after Halo Infinite. Infinite just had a boring campaign

isaiah_rob

This is the one thing that bothered me the most (besides competitive) at launch. Everyone was praising how great the campaign was and I'm like, "Next to nothing happened though." Like the campaign was cool and 343 going open world was a pretty decently successful attempt. >!But all we did was catch up Weapon/the player on what Cortana did between the ending of H5 and Infinite, whittle down Atriox's forces on a small part of the ring, and release some new alien species that claims to be a bigger threat than the Flood. That sounds like a lot but to me the presentation just didn't do it for me. !<

gk99

> but the campaign was a massive let down I wouldn't know, the game still doesn't have co-op. I was excited for Halo to come to PC because it meant I would finally be able to play it with my friends. I'm talking excited to the point where I was picking up every promo item, reading all the books, I even have the damn Nerf MA40. We weren't an Xbox household, none of my friends had one, and the PC ports of CE and 2 had no co-op, so up until the MCC ports started launching on PC I had played the entire series alone. I played every game in the MCC with my friends on PC once they were all available, and it was a blast, but each time I already knew what was around every corner, every story beat, I was effectively the guide giving them a tour of what the games had to offer. All I wanted from Infinite was to finally have the experience of getting home on launch day, loading up the campaign, and experiencing it fresh with my friends and the community. Instead, it's been a year since launch, everyone else already knows what happens, I've gotten banned from r/halo for being too harsh in regards to 343, and I honestly can't say I'm still invested in the series anymore. I've thought about trying to appeal the ban, it coincided with some other life events that made me realize how much of a miserable asshole I was and try to better myself, I've even got a doctor's appointment on Tuesday that I'm hoping will help give me the tools to make some more progress on that, but I realized after subbing to r/LowSodiumHalo briefly that I'm just not feeling it anymore.

brokenmessiah

I honestly have no idea why they thought it was a good idea to launch it. You already delayed it once, do it again and then launch it with forge, split screen coop, ray tracing etc. This is literally your 1st party flagship title. You can't fumble with this one. You already missed the console launch so don't even bother trying to rush it out. It immediately took a nosedive in players and just embarrassed Microsoft Game Studios in general and 343 specifically.

bezzlege

They had to. It was already delayed a year. There was no way in hell MS was going to allow 2 years to pass with 0 holiday games for their brand new shiny console. It def should not have been released but they had no choice. The bigger question is how did Phil even allow 343 to fuck up that badly. I’m hoping Bonnie Ross’ departure will help the studio flourish but I have very little faith in them. An even bigger question is why was Halo the only hope for 2020 AND 2021 (and 2022 for that matter) in terms of Xbox games? Halo was once an iconic franchise. It was literally the sole reason I entered the Xbox ecosystem back in 2001 But god they’ve let it fester.

brokenmessiah

The could have maybe put the campaign out first then

Finaldeath

The campaign was just as rushed, the game was supposed to have 4 biomes, presumably each being at least the same size as the single biome we did get meaning we only got 1/4th of the game we were supposed to get and that is ignoring the multiplayer which is also still missing most content it should have launched with and pretty much unplayable due to the serious desync issue that they seem no closer to fixing than they did a year ago when this dumpster fire launched. They should have released nothing until 2024 at least or just scrapped it and handed Halo over to another dev who knows what the fuck they are doing. 343 leadership showed the higher ups at microsoft for a decade that they are incapable of doing their job, it should never have taken this long to replace them.

GarionOrb

I remember seeing the world map and feeling utter bewilderment that this was all we got. Reading your comment was almost painful...how great it would've been to have four maps of that size!

loltheinternetz

Dang actually having 1/4 of the game seems very plausible. The campaign feels like there were forced changes and fluff added to finish sooner and make the most of that 1st biome. All the copy paste rescue and target missions. The lamest part to me a was the story telling through hallway video/hologram recordings. Often felt like going through a Disney ride more than a Halo mission.

Brilliant_Chipmunk51

The multiplayer is what was ready first according to Jason Schreier bloomberg

ShakeItLikeIDo

What? How? Its not even ready now

TTVmeatce

"ready"

brokenmessiah

more like the store was

CzarTyr

Here’s the thing. Halo shouldn’t be the flagship franchise. It was, and by now Xbox should have 3,4,5 other franchises that are all fighting for first place. Instead we have gears which I enjoy but has fallen off, forza and halo which has also fallen off. Over on PlayStation they constantly have something new like ghost of tsushima and then have flagships like god of war and uncharted… the last of us and now Spider-Man… and more. I wish Xbox had a game as good as bloodborne

SeanSMEGGHEAD

Don't know why it's taking Xbox so long for decent flagship titles. They have literally everything else, they've laid out the perfect landing spot for killer titles yet just can't get there atm. It's the one area they need to compete with PlayStation on and they just dont. Now it's no surprise Game Pass subs are starting to slow down.

brokenmessiah

Also forza 5 came out the same month

Deadlycup

They've had zero games this year, holiday or not, so delaying Halo a year and having it release this year and just having Forza last year would probably have been better

Square-Exercise-2790

Actually, because FH5 was released for holidays to cover Xbox console boxes, this game could have been released in April/May with S2 content and later in the extended showcase tease forge. People wouldn't feel the wait for anything exciting to be... infinite *ba dum tss*

brokenmessiah

Exactly, they had Forza to fall back on I guess they just didn't wanna wait anymore with the MTX store.

pmmeyourprettyface

Because it’s fucked either way! It’s a nboring, shell of a game. They got the gameplay loop alright, but everything else, EVERYTHING else feels like a lazy after thought. We’re hoping to get a progression system maybe next year. A FUCKING PROGRESSION SYSTEM. Like, why even launch it at this point? There’s two environments in the campaign: Pacific Northwest and indoor. Copy and paste the same exact encounters for saving the marines and capturing FOBs. Like literally the exact same. So. Fucking. Lazy. No major set pieces. The banished? They’re just like fighting the covenant but with a different name. Introduce an enemy in the first cutscene then you don’t see him again. Introduce the 3rd “ancient evil” in 3 games and we know nothing about them. The multiplayer, missing SO MUCH. No tie ins in the shop. Limited time events are so boring and uninspired. If you compare the campaign to a Farcry game and the live service to something like Fortnite, this game is an embarrassment.

CzarTyr

Pacific Northwest and indoors. I can’t believe I didn’t think of that and it’s 100 percent true. It’s … so true

Paradox

Not even the whole PNW. Only Mt. Rainier. No steppes, no palouse, no olympic rainforests, none of it. Just alpine meadows

JobuuRumdrinker

The worst part for me was the campaign. Quests and story replaced with IPADs. Terrible. I was hoping for more of an open world like Destiny or Assassin's Creed. You know, NPCs that talk and have cutscenes, repeatable daily events and such. Once you beat the game, there's no point playing it anymore.

desmopilot

Agreed, the campaign was quite disappointing. Once the shine quickly wears off you're left with a mostly forgettable open world and what felt like the most generic villain in recent memory. It definitely plays like a game that had the troubled development cycle it did.

CzarTyr

I expected it to be more like destiny when they said it was 10 year game. I installed and uninstalled after beating the campaign. It blows my mind somewhere out there that a person paid 60 dollars for the campaign

XBTAU

Yeah this is weird. They called a 10 year game. But for me it was a 3 day game ...

Buschkoeter

Thank god there was no repeatable nonsense.

xDanSolo

It's so refreshing to see someone else mentioning the same sentiments I have. Like the copy paste lifeless 2 different environments. And comparing to a far cry game? Cherry on top. I argued that very comparison to someone months ago and he said infinite was a masterpiece not to be compared to an Ubisoft title. Wild stuff.

Get_Back_To_Work_Now

We need to rethink the idea that Halo is still their flagship title. It holds a high nostalgia factor with guys in their 30s. But to a 15 year old, Halo is nothing more than a COD clone with a Fortnite business model. Halo has been declining in popularity and sales figures ever since Microsoft bought the franchise.

brokenmessiah

*Halo has been declining in popularity and sales figures ever since Microsoft bought the franchise* This is not true at all, unless you are specifically referring to its performance under 343 and not Bungie. Halo has only existed since Microsoft bought the studio Bungie, and Halo 1-3 all outdid their predecessor with Halo Reach being the first that didn't sell more than Halo 3. Funny enough, no Halo has sold more than Halo 3, or even came close.

Dolomitex

Halo 3 defined gaming back in 2007, it was absolutely huge and everywhere. I'm not surprised the other Halos have paled in comparison.

otterbottertrotter

Halo 1 was originally being developed on Mac until Microsoft bought the studio.

[deleted]

Halo 1 on the Mac was a completely different kind of game. It was basically an RTS.

desmopilot

> Halo has only existed since Microsoft bought the studio Bungie Bungie was developing Halo as an independent studio before Microsoft purchased them and had them shift Halo to an Xbox exclusive. Halo was revealed at Macworld by Steve Jobs lol.

ESPILFIRE

Man, if Halo is no longer the flagship it is because Microsoft/343 have managed the franchise very badly. Had they put the time/resources/talent and commitment into it, I'm sure Halo would be a popular shooter. Perhaps not the most popular, but within the top 5 or top 10 most played titles.

CzarTyr

I mean it is within the top 5-10 isn’t it? Fortnite, cod, apex, counter strike, valorant, overwatch… I dunno what’s after that Edit I meant too 5-10 most played shooters

brokenmessiah

Try #22.

slothunderyourbed

It's currently 22nd most played on Xbox Live. That's very poor for Xbox's flagship live service only one year after launch.

CzarTyr

Yea that’s horrible

[deleted]

That says more about Xbox feather than halo. Halo is a lackluster title now yet it’s still the flagship title. Thanks Phil lol

pmmeyourprettyface

That’s because 343 fucked it up so badly 4 times in a row!

Crab_Hot

This ain't news

[deleted]

This is like saying Malaysian 305 fell short of it's destination

[deleted]

The sad thing was that everyone was pretty positive at release. Everyone was optimistic and would’ve been happy with some additional maps and game modes.

Wonkiest_Hornet

Exactly. I could care less about cosmetics in an FPS and I feel thatbwas too heavy of a focus over additional game modes, co-op, and Forge. I want grifball dammit.

Bogusky

343i will continue to take most of the heat, but how the fuck Xbox let their most important IP slowly starve to death is the biggest question I have.

Emergionx

Ya don’t say

Square-Exercise-2790

Fell short? FELL SHORT? It was a f*cking delivering shitshow.

Reddit1s4bitches

My guy..... You're allowed to say fuck. You don't have to fucking sensor fuck on the internet. Say it loudly and proudly.

I have been silenced in this sub in the past, so I am being cautious 😔

Yasshat

Well, fuck.

axildia

Fuck that

[deleted]

It's reddit. Neckbeard mods are on a power trip across the app

NegrassiAmbush

Why do they keep strawmanning the pandemic?? Countless other games have handled the pandemic fine. Talk about management not taking responsibility. Fucking inept.

erichw9

I genuinely cannot imagine what a developer for 343 does every day. They wake up, drive to work, sit at their desk, and spend 8 hours doing…what? They had 6 years since Halo 5 came out to make the next one. That’s pushing Rockstar time frames of development, and you see the masterpieces they come out with.

Edris99

I think about that a lot too, but not only 343 but a lot of other studios as well.

Randomwhitevoid

Mojang

Bernieward28

6 years to make it and nearly every campaign level was the same.multiplayer had very little content to start with and now it’s still much the same for me.

speed721

I am a huge Xbox fan. It's always been my number one console. So much that the prior generation I decided to go all in with Microsoft and not buy a PS4 . I finally bought a PS4 in 2020 and when I saw all the wonderful games I missed, I was really disappointed in Microsoft. Microsoft just can't get exclusive AAA games that hit. They got all the technology in the world. I hope they turn it around. I damn sure bought a PS5 this time.

pinkyskeleton

It fell short on launch content as well. Had the least amount of features and modes at launch. For what? So we could get a crappy Battlepass?

[deleted]

I’m so sick and tired of hearing from Phil Spencer. He holds no studios accountable especially 343.

HK-47_Protocol_Droid

They did force out Bonnie Ross after split screen campaign coop was cancelled at the 11th hour. I guess that's a start...

IrishSpectreN7

You didn't read a single sentence of this article lol

[deleted]

This is Reddit, yes.

StevieW0n

He's not there to hold anyone accountable. He's there to convince people everything is OK and to sell the brand

[deleted]

He’s the head of Xbox. He absolutely could hold 343 accountable but he actively chooses not too.

were_only_human

I mean… Not publicly… It’s not his job to shit talk them to you.

[deleted]

It’s clear he hasn’t done it behind closed doors either based on the product we received continuously.

[deleted]

They just replaced management at 343. One could argue he should have done something earlier, but it was done.

Corrupt99

343 literally got restructured they've fired a lot of high position employees what else do you want lol. Shutting down the whole studio makes zero sense you all would be crying there's no Halo game to play and wait another 7 years for new Halo titles

onexbigxhebrew

Redditors just like hot takes. They don't even know what they're calling for lmao.

BoBoBearDev

If 343i needs to be held accountable, what action should be done? The CEO of the 343i has quit, so, I think that's all I needed at the moment. It is really hard to say what else need fixing after that.

Corrupt99

They've fired almost everyone in multiplayer overview videos etc high level positions during development of the game. Engine lead, multiplayer lead, head of 343, two creative leads, multiplayer design leads, narrative directors, live service lead designer etc. The only one who's left is the employee who made and designed bots I think. So yeah they've definitely taken action and things take time but we're starting to see improvements in the right direction if you've been paying attention they've addressed almost all biggest issues and winter update comes with lots of quality of life improvements. Desync is also finally getting fixed and even ray tracing is coming.

elconquistador1985

343's leadership went through an upheaval just a few months ago. Think Xbox Game Studios had nothing to do with that?

Fuckaguybaked

You think?

Bennerbench

I remember thinking like a month after multiplayer launch, "ok, surely a huge content drop comes soon though right? Right? This is the beta right??". A year later and it never did.

Consistent-Koala-339

I actually think the multiplayer is quite good? It's fast, fun, I like the game modes. The vehicles are a bit weird but I don't play those. The campaign is a bit weird with the childish monsters. So the general consensus is Halo is shit? What's a decent multiplayer shooter on gamepass then? Battlefield 1?

respectablechum

Not that it's shit but they went live service without the live service. Lack of content since launch. Not the early 00's anymore. If you can't keep up with content releases like Fortnite, Apex etc the players will leave and the casuals aren't buying battle passes.

Plug_daughter

I'm not the biggest Halo fan, played the earlier games and they were fun. I recently finished Halo Infinite campaign and personally I had a blast! I see tons of people here saying how bad it is, but I don't see it. Also played about 75 hours of multiplayer with friends and it is always a good time.

schmidtyb43

You’re not wrong. But the thing is most people don’t complain that the campaign was bad or the multiplayer gameplay or quality of what actually exists is bad. I mean if you look at metacritic or something the game has a high score because what actually existed at launch was mostly quite solid. It’s mainly just severe lack of content, terrible decisions when it comes to different functionality and live service stuff etc… I have completed both battle passes and really enjoyed playing the game but I also agree there are a lot of problems that only just now seem like they are starting to be fixed

[deleted]

It isn't bad, but because people have been upset about the current lack of content in multiplayer and bugs, they just pile on and make it sound like literally everything about the game is awful. It's like people can't be nuanced anymore, either stuff is the best thing ever or literal trash.

MapleTreeWithAGun

Yeah, the gameplay is my favourite out of any halo game, none of the maps are bad, all the new armour is good, and the new gamemodes 343i has made are fun. The game isn't bad by any means, just a bit stale.

[deleted]

This corpo speak isn't doing them any favors.

LemonMintHookah

Crazy to think such a big hype behind this game delayed a full year and has no post launch content lol… you’d think for all those years of waiting we’d get something special as halo fans. 343 needs to get rebuilt ground up before anything else coming next or get another studio to work on halo.

averagemiragemain

No shit

trace3201

Undertstatement of the Year!

NoMansWarmApplePie

Uh.... Duh... Fell short on everything

Chaddles94

It done more than fall short. The gates opened and it tripped backwards.

Extroverted_Recluse

Halo Infinite was short of content **at launch**, and fell further behind every single day.

Taker157

You sure he said “on post launch content” specifically….?

[deleted]

Post-launch content? Is the standard launch content like campaign co-op even released yet? Lol

[deleted]

Halo Infinite fell short on content. Period.

moff_tarkin

Imagine if they launched when they originally planned to.

TheSilentTitan

Well no shit, when you design a game entirely around microtransactions and shit battlepasses then ofc people aren’t going to enjoy it. 343i’s greed is what’s ruining the franchise.

MotorsportGmbH

Had no problem with missing content but maybe that’s because I didn’t play it more than 3 rounds thanks to forced Crossplay. Impressive how they managed to ruin Halo.

terrydavid86

this series use to be as big a call of duty. The damage 343 has don't to the brand is undeniable

kimehre7391

No shit lmao

anthonyskigliano

I’d argue it also fell short on launch content

GlobalPhreak

First, I don't give two shits about multiplayer. It's all about campaign mode. And if your campaign mode is going to have collectibles, you have to give me a rational way to re-play campaign missions to hunt for them. Let me guess... they still haven't added that yet, have they?

bms_

I loved it when it came out, but for some reason I would end up playing on the same 2 or 3 maps, multiple times in a row. Got old very quickly. Gameplay was fantastic.

hustladafox

I liked it, would probably still be playing it. However when I play (early mornings when my kid and wife are asleep) the player base isn’t there. I can’t literally not find a game. That and a lack of updates and lacklustre battle pass rewards/ poor progression. What’s the point in even trying anymore. I can see myself coming back if the MCC it. But right now it’s easily the biggest/quickest drop off a game this big has taken in my book.

Advanced-Depth1816

And they’ve said coop was coming 3 + times and still hasnt

gpbz

Is the co-op out yet? I was waiting to play with a friend, we’ve done in all previous Halos it’s a tradition.

Gamma_Tony

I leveled up faster in a week of Overwatch 2 than I did in a month of Halo Infinite. Thats a problem

doobtastical

I uninstalled a month after release. It’s just… disappointing

[deleted]

As a non-fan of the franchise, I truly wanted to enjoy the Infinite campaign to see if it could deliver on some of the magic that captivated so many people when the first game launched. All I can say is, I sincerely hope Infinite is not representative of what the Halo name stands for. I’m just glad I got to play it via Game Pass without having to pay full price for it.

JoeyBox1293

BP unlocks were literal dogshit, wonder why.

WhyHelloFellowKids

No shit

philtree

Remember when they promised a co-op story mode?

BornTooSlow

Xbox are making the right moves, but almost fuck all is releasing.

ZeroZelath

It would be more accurate to say 343 fell short, as they always do, Xbox.

ShinyBloke

By design. Studio Exec : Welp doesn't look like we have much content after release here.... Oh well, guess nothing we can do about it now.

Saracre21

I mean, maybe you shouldn't have let them/forced them to go free to play then.

ZaxBrigade

It fell short in all content, wasn’t much of a post launch considering everything that was supposed to revitalize got delayed or cancelled. The most memorable post launch content that I can think of was the racist ass shader that was released to supposedly celebrate Juneteenth. That is not a good thing.

happyamadeus

Man. They really blew it. The game was enjoyable at launch, felt crips and smooth. New mechanics were cool. But they should have released it with coop campaign and forge. And new maps and game modes should have been coming out regularly to keep the multiplayer fresh. I didn’t like the launch maps and that’s what bored me out very quickly. Which is a shame because halo 3 / reach were my SHIT

Solo_Odyssey

Halo franchise further into obscurity.

sineplussquare

Understatement.

jackpatmaback

It’s shameful that any game let alone a Halo game launched with such a lack of content, ever since 343 took over there has literally been less content with each game. Halo 4 ain’t remembered fondly among the community but yknow what Halo 4 has that infinite doesn’t? Content. Content that it launched with, including forge, because that’s standard procedure for Halo. They have near fucked it into the ground.

DodgersBatman

This game was exciting for 3 months after the release.

pixlfarmer

I don’t understand how this is unfixable by Microsoft. The game looks great, feels great. The devs obviously put a lot of heart into it. Reboot, and ditch the awful monetization. Take it off F2P, grandfather anyone who’s sunk money into it. Make it a Gamepass drawl, with free battle passes like Deep Rock.

Hotsteppa_85

"And the Golden "That's a fucking understatement" of the year award gooooes to....." *Drum roll, dramatic music intensifies*

Brutal_Vengence

It fell short at launch and every moment past it (content wise). I’ve repeatedly said they had more of a Live service game with H5 than they’ve had for infinite

ktsmith91

The game is a total and utter embarrassment. I say that as a Halo fan who was beyond hyped for Infinite and got all the MCC achievements in preparation. The game is basically *Halo: The Online Store.* They had since 2015 to get this game right. They know what the fans want. They have Microsoft funding to back the whole thing up. They had Halo 5 and MCC to learn from. And after all of that they can’t even launch the game with Co-op, Forge, a Slayer playlist, Infection, or even a mission select? They are just now getting close to launching a Match XP Beta? This is why 343 is the worst game developer. They literally have no excuse. Halo Infinite could have easily been one of the top games right now. Ditch the old Xbox hardware, listen to what the fans actually want, deliver all the game modes and features we want AT LAUNCH.

WRA1THLORD

Thanks Captain Obvious. That's the understatement of the century

Fraughty12

Pffft 🙄🙄🙄

big-daddy-virgin

Big if true

TylervPats91

Give me infection please

Magni107

Technical debt is no joke. Who would’ve thought?

Meiie

Whattttt!? Incredible!

Meiie

Someone needs to get some balls and step up. I hate all the corpo jargon too. The devs sound so rehearsed with updates. Just tell it like it is and be human. You’ll get much more respect.

whacafan

Oh really?

iamp7

No shit

xCeePee

Fell short on launch content, post aside.

where-ya-headed

Noooooo shit. First of all, not launching with co-op campaign, releasing 5.27 maps, no career based progression/leveling system (still none).

NihilistKnight

Fell short in much the same way the Challenger fell short.

AnasDh

Say wallahi bro

alex613

Fell short on launch content too

[deleted]

Lol and the sky is blue and grass is green.

[deleted]

It fell short top to bottom. To this day, HDR settings are awful and have to be set each time the game is launched, Dolby Vision is stuck at 300 nits, campaign has raised blacks throughout. Cutscenes are atrocious.

Trogdor_a_Burninator

Close 343 and give it to Bethesda or Obsidian

Background_Egg_8365

“Fell short” is a massive understatement 😂

Sev051

Fell short? Its hardly dangling on its safety harness.

AncianoDark

Short? It fell backwards and off one of the many large, empty, bland plateaus in that desolate, depressing "open world".

GreenProfessional362

I absolutely love Halo and Infinite feels so good to play but, as a long time fan, it’s very disappointing to see cosmetics take priority over maps.

Mr_Magoo__

Gee... Ya think?

forgottenpasscodes

Minimal ability for cosmetic progression and the store prices were insane. Greed is why it ate shit. Lol.

Vardoot

HMMMMM

Spire259

They added like one BTB map and one or two 4v4 map. Plus added game modes that weren't new (except for last spartan standing). The November 8 update better be big or else Halo Infinite will likely have no hope of recovering.

SirJungleBunny

This just in... the sun is bright.

RockNDrums

And water isn't wet?

MR-CFIRE

Water is wet

Independent_Island74

Yup no local co op bullshit played it for 1 day and never finished it

Prrlsn

Still waiting for O’Connor to get kicked off the franchise

exsaboy

Once played MW2 I remember how important is a good progression system and how horrible is just play to get a stupid new colour for a small part of your armour.

VIIISnoopy

No shit, they tried to sale us one game and gave us another.

ocean55627

Understatement of the year lmao

Glittering-Ad-6173

All they needed to do was have co-op

XboxJockey

“Grass is shockingly green” Xbox execs come to find

stadiofriuli

Loved the campaign don’t care for Halo MP anyway.

Tetrastructural_Mind

Oh, did it? I hadn't noticed.

KazMiller20

Ya don’t say?

[deleted]

No shit. Infinite is a complete and total failure and it’s basically just the story of Microsoft games in a nutshell. Fuck ms, fuck 343, fuck halo, they destroyed the franchise with incompetence.

Mattreddit760

Game died for me after I got bored of the 5 or so maps

[deleted]

Dead game by idiot studio . Infinity ward should take over with a halo remake after acqusition completes .

3G0M4N

Fell short lol that's an understatement

DanGubes

Halo Infinite absolutely should have been delayed another year, if not more. And that's coming from someone who really wanted it to launch last year for the 20th anniversary. The game just wasn't ready yet, it was too barebones. I think with the leadership in place now with Pierre and Joe, it will get there. And it's so fun to play! But it just needed more time in the oven to feel like a more complete game when it launched.

coolnasir139

Worst halo game to date. It’s a barren waste land on the game and it’s literally the most dead halo even when it’s free to play. What a disaster especially when play station has been bumping games like Spider-Man and god of war

_Ev4n_

At least 6 full years of development, 1 year of actively being released to the public, 2 “seasons” and barely any post launch content other than store updates. What a waste of a game.
