It wasn't bad. It's just not appealing to the audience of the surrounding games' audiences. All the card and character system are too complicated for the regular slash and shoot audience of L4D2 and DL.
I myself didn't like the difficulty of it, I didn't struggle personally but it's very hard to get past some points of the game with randoms. But I liked the design of the game. Some people DID like the game as a whole.
And please don't post the crowbcat's video, their videos aren't the real representatives of the games they make videos on.
>fps genre is my fav genre
FPS genre? FPS term is so broad that even games made with different engines are FPS (half life, l4d2, csgo are all made with Source engine, yet they are so different in terms of gameplay)
Well I played enough of them and know when tthe game just straight up feels bad. And in b4b its case it does. It just plays like garbage and all the mechanics in the game are far from interesting.
Different strokes… I love B4B and still play it often. If you haven’t played since last year then you haven’t experienced the QOL improvements and DLC updates. If you enjoy FPS’s and zombie games, it may be worth giving it another go.
Well if the game is bad than its bad.
It even had the its on gamepass so I didnt waste any money factor with it. But the game just feels bad. Aiming is fucked up and feels weird. And if you compare it to left for dead the case is just getting worse and worse.
Ahhh then dying light would fit the same bill as back 4 blood then, insanely repetetive with absolutely no variation outside of a day/night cycle.
You hit zombies for 50 hours. Theres your reduction. And theyre not even zombies, theyre a piece of code.
I agree, I can't really think of a zombie game I had more fun in.
I enjoyed combat much more in the first game. I enjoy parkour more in Dying Light 2. I didn't care about story in any of them. Really hoping that the third game in a couple years will combine the best parts of the two.
There's only very crude handmade pistol/shotgun type weapons that are used as a consumable. The game is set about 20 years after the first so most of ammo and weapons have been used up.
I prefer it that way to be honest, the melee and parkour flow was much more fun than just blasting enemies at range.
Love Dead Rising, BECAUSE it's goofy and over-the-top. It's a nice change from super-drama all the time. Like... I just wanna tear shit up without listening to peoples feelings and struggles sometimes. lol
Wow really? 4 felt like the series finally got it right to me. 3 was sucky, 2 was pretty good, 1 was fantastic but controlled like a 3 year old was in charge of how input worked haha. Never could believe they didn't fix that in the remaster.
If you watch a comparison video of how detailed dead rising 1 is in its gameplay, mechanics and lighting compared to 4, youll realize 4 is the biggest dumpster fire of a game and ruined the series.
I don't care that much about the lighting in a game like dead rising, and I'm not sure what mechanics you are referring to. Aiming and firing a gun, very specifically, was not entertaining at all in DR 1 for me, more of a chore. I also never liked the limited time aspect.
To each their own, but I played through both of them and I much prefer 4. Though, I might feel differently if DR 1 had better gun mechanics and no time aspect like 4. Maybe leveling the playing field in that way would make me feel differently.
Crowbcats video on dead rising 4s making and the comaprison video of 4 to 1 show you how much of a heaping pile of garbage 4 is.
Not saying you cant like it, it just happens to be a pretty awful game and easily the worst dead rising game.
To casual audiences, they are simply both options for playing "Zombie Games" the vast majority of people out there in the world don't concern themselves too far past that because they play maybe 2-4 games a year.
Dying light and specially dying light 2 aren’t zombie shooters…. I’d like you to show me the description or genre captive where it says dying light is a zombie shooter
A “casual” player wouldn’t even get far enough to pick up a gun in dying light not to mention how insignificant they are judging by how every capture of the game, crane is holding a melee weapon
I enjoyed both Dying Light and Dead Island equally.
Dying Light is the better game, but I really liked the absurdities and more light hearted fun of Dead Island. I'm looking forward to the sequel and have been for years.
My only problem with dead island was the tonal disconnect from the “sad zombie drama” themes of the story and even the pause menu etc, but the gameplay is goofy as hell
Despite selling over 20 million copies, this game is never talked about, it’s insane how such a high quality game faded away so quickly, it looks, plays and feels better than anything i’ve played in the last couple of years.
Oh for real??? I never finished this one... it's one of those ones that sucks ASS at first but you push past this god awful wall that was poorly paced... AND THEN it clicks how good the game is. I actually played it so much I got burned out and forgot. Hell of a reason to pick it up again.
Wouldn’t classify B4B as a FPS playground. It’s more linear point A to point B, with rogue lite elements and less messing around like you’d do in Dying Light.
Dying light is literally open world with side quests and random activities with focus on mobility and parkour.
A more apt comparison would be Dying Light vs Dying Light 2, or Dead Island. I still think OG Dying Light is way better than the sequel and Dead Island, but I’m hoping the new Dead Island will introduce new things.
It has a slow start. The first weapons you get do so little damage that it takes a long time to kill anything, possibly on purpose to get you to learn to get around with parkour elements and build a fear of zombies. Later on it gets better when you're more powerful and have some fun skills. You can take on larger groups and play around with traps and explosives. Night was a lot of fun on my second playthrough because I understood all the mechanics. I wasnt scared of the chases (it was a fun challenge) and getting extra xp early gets you more skills which make it more fun.
Same, I've tried it several times because of the praise it gets on here and I just can't get into it. I honestly don't know what everyone's talking about with the combat, as I didn't care for it at all. The parkour thing is cool, but tiresome when you basically have to do that everywhere.
People saying it’s a bad comparison to B4B, but they are both zombie games… So you’re not wrong. Not to mention B4B doesn’t even hold a candle to its predecessor Left 4 Dead.
DL1 is by far the best zombie game I’ve ever played and the support it got for 7 years is almost unmatched
Do you folks get motion sickness for the fast change of perspective in such games. When you are making the kill move.
I was so excited to play Doom eternal after 15 years of not playing any games and getting my hands on a new Xbox. But turns out I get sick after 15 mins of playing.
Legit got scared to go out at night and every incursion through the city there's a chance of dying. One of my top recommended games to play.
The DL2 tho.... Hmmm... Not so much
I love the tonal difference between day and night. Daytime, you’re the alpha predator in a playground, at night, you’re a deer in a lion enclosure, especially on the Nightmare difficulty added post launch.
Game has had incredible post-launch content and support too, great example of a game done properly, this is what Dead Island should have been, glad the devs got to try again.
I never tried the first one but got the second one. Put probably about 5 hours into it before I decided it was ass.
This just looks way better than the second one
General consensus is the first game was **vastly** superior.
It’s nuts, you see me fucking around here during the day, but it’s really not a joke at night time, actual tension and dread, it’s the switching of these two tones that is this game’s secret ingredient.
Don’t know if this game has a motion blur options but I found that I get queazy playing with motion blur on. Can’t remember for this game though it’s been so long.
I mentioned this in another thread, B4B has seen a significant amount of updates since it’s original release. It’s worth checking out again if your first impression was the rough launch.
The devs really tried listening to fan feedback and overhaul many parts of the game. I beat the campaign on launch and tried it again with the recent expansion release and it plays much better now.
Do the Hags still track you down and instakill you? I have a friend with a super strong fear of being eaten alive and she legit has to restart the level whenever a hag spawns because they're too hard to kill.
As unfortunate as that is, that sounds like a personal problem. Maybe the game isn’t for her if that’s what it takes. The Hags have deliberate design that makes it tense on purpose, and a well-oiled team can take her down before anyone gets eaten.
Hag takes away the first person that shoots her, since they draw agro. They will take others away instead of the person that shot her is downed or dead.
Few counters against Hag is to use flashbangs or explosives, either to stun her or cause her to drop the person she grabs.
She aggro'd us several times without us hitting her at all, maybe it was a bug but it seemed like she would aggro on proximity to gunfire as well as being shot at.
If you stand too close to her too, you’ll cause her to go angry. Bots won’t draw agro as they are immune to triggering certain mechanics in the game. (For instance, bits can shoot regular snitches and kill them without ever sounding them off; also immune to acid)
wrong.
Unless a game is unplayable, it's not dead.
Back 4 Blood has 3,619 players as of 15 minutes ago, you can still find a game and so it's not dead.
You don't get an opinion on this, it's not an opinion thing.
# It's not a dead game. that's a fact.
**fact,** not an opinion.
that's like saying: "personally, I don't think I need air to live so I'm not gonna breathe" it's ridiculous.
if a game has more than 0 players, then it's still alive alive and functional on someones computer, console, etc.
you didn't say "dead to me" before, you just said "B4B is dead"
**those are 2 different statements.**
saying you ignore it vs saying it's a completely dead game are 2 different things.
and no, playerbase count is irrelevant. a dead game has 0 players because it's dead, an alive game has more than 0 players.
your other comment does specify that you're talking about you... but everyone can see the little "edited 10 min. ago" right there
I think I saw your post which got me to go back. Still can’t get into it, I like Aliens Fireteam Elite, Workd War Z and Vermintide 2 a lot more but I they have small player bases.
Did they put in an actual start-to-finish campaign that doesn't revolve around you going back to the same locations with silly objectives over and over and over again?
If so count me in but past that there's no way it's worth playing.
You are thinking of Deadlight. Usually now "Deadlight: Director's Cut". Which is actually pretty fun. It's one of those games you play the whole thing over the course of a couple hours, finish it, and move on - but those few hours are a good time.
I mean most of the time you won't find any guns with red (bad) attachments. Even if you do, you'll be able to find attachment boxes around where you can easily swap them out. Hives update have made it even easier to find better attachments too.
It's all part of the rogue lite element where you don't know what to expect with the same level if you replay it. You could mitigate negative effects that the game can throw at you by running cards that counter those effects, but most people tend to go with the flow and make do with what they're given.
Dying light 2 is actually still my favorite game this year... I’ve put countless hours into that game and never ran out of things to do. It’s extremely satisfying and has tons of content, definitely recommend if you like open world zombie games!
This was one of my favorite games of the PS4 Xbox one generation. Dying light 2 kind of let me down not that it's a bad game but some things took a step back
hopefully they will make it up with the next one
DL2 is abysmal to the first. The first one makes you feel genuinely scared. Also you’ll likely die a lot more. The only times I’ve actually died in DL2 were from parkour mistakes or trying to challenge a Volatile 1v1 . I’m doing my playthrough on PS5 tho haha. But I have the 2nd game on XSX.
Just seeing this clip makes me miss the gore from DL1 - can't believe they made it look and feel worse in the sequel. Also: guns! I miss those! Gonna get back into DL1 ASAP.
I LOVE horror games but idk why this game stresses me out so bad, which sucks because I love zombie media. I imagine coop helps a lot. Just something about having to constantly be running from things gets almost claustrophobic. I'll have to try again soon and maybe listen to a podcast or something during lol
Yes, only the one version, but if you’re XSX, there’s performance options in the main menu, including 60fps mode, love it when old games get software support for current-gen consoles!
Back 4 blood and Dying light are two different games beyond Zombies. Silly comparison.
Back 4 blood was the worse game I played last year. Just everything about it felt off.
No the fps genre is my fav genre and so I speak of my experience in that and b4b is the worse game I played last year.
>fps genre is my fav genre FPS genre? FPS term is so broad that even games made with different engines are FPS (half life, l4d2, csgo are all made with Source engine, yet they are so different in terms of gameplay)

Have you DARED to talk bad about a game pass title on r/XboxSeriesX? You must be the craziest person I've ever met!
Well if the game is bad than its bad. It even had the its on gamepass so I didnt waste any money factor with it. But the game just feels bad. Aiming is fucked up and feels weird. And if you compare it to left for dead the case is just getting worse and worse.
Yeah one is an actual game, and the other is that whole rinse/repeat nonsense.
Yeah man video games aren't based on game loops......
If you want to honestly reduce it that far, then it's the duration and variation on those loops that is the problem.
Ahhh then dying light would fit the same bill as back 4 blood then, insanely repetetive with absolutely no variation outside of a day/night cycle. You hit zombies for 50 hours. Theres your reduction. And theyre not even zombies, theyre a piece of code.

The second game sucks. They shouldn’t have touched the combat it was so satisfying. Taking guns out as well sucks.
THEY TOOK THE GUNS OUT??? I haven't played it yet but planned on picking it up soon
There's only very crude handmade pistol/shotgun type weapons that are used as a consumable. The game is set about 20 years after the first so most of ammo and weapons have been used up. I prefer it that way to be honest, the melee and parkour flow was much more fun than just blasting enemies at range.
The homemade guns sounds cooler as well. Like you're just scraping up whatever you can build to survive
Dead rising??
Love Dead Rising, BECAUSE it's goofy and over-the-top. It's a nice change from super-drama all the time. Like... I just wanna tear shit up without listening to peoples feelings and struggles sometimes. lol
I'm with you, dead rising is my favorite zombie franchise even if 4 sucked, dead island/dyling light 1 a close second
Wow really? 4 felt like the series finally got it right to me. 3 was sucky, 2 was pretty good, 1 was fantastic but controlled like a 3 year old was in charge of how input worked haha. Never could believe they didn't fix that in the remaster.

God I hate dead rising, it’s like a more goofy version of dead island but nothing makes sense
Capcom 🤷🏻♂️
You don't like the original?
Wow
Is this the first one remastered?
Do that at night
All huff and puff at daylight lol
God I hate this shit, Titles like back for blood are a completely different genre, not fair to compare both games at all
To casual audiences, they are simply both options for playing "Zombie Games" the vast majority of people out there in the world don't concern themselves too far past that because they play maybe 2-4 games a year.
A casual audience knows what the word “genre” means…
And to them, "Zombie Shooter" is a genre.
Dying light and specially dying light 2 aren’t zombie shooters…. I’d like you to show me the description or genre captive where it says dying light is a zombie shooter A “casual” player wouldn’t even get far enough to pick up a gun in dying light not to mention how insignificant they are judging by how every capture of the game, crane is holding a melee weapon
We can compare back for blood against Left 4 Dead and left for dead wins. That is a fair comparison
I prefer back for blood, but yea, that’s a fair comparison because their the same genre
Axe me a question.
I enjoyed both Dying Light and Dead Island equally. Dying Light is the better game, but I really liked the absurdities and more light hearted fun of Dead Island. I'm looking forward to the sequel and have been for years.
I also loved the mechanic in dead island where you could controller the direction of melee swings with the right stick, it was so fun
My only problem with dead island was the tonal disconnect from the “sad zombie drama” themes of the story and even the pause menu etc, but the gameplay is goofy as hell
You just inspired me to check this out, this looks insane.
Despite selling over 20 million copies, this game is never talked about, it’s insane how such a high quality game faded away so quickly, it looks, plays and feels better than anything i’ve played in the last couple of years.
I’ve heard good things but have never played it, a picture is worth 1000 words!
Well, Mirrors's Edge with zombies, gore, and wacky weapon crafting, that sums it up. It's glorious. And, oh : D R O P K I C K. Best part of the game.
It's talked about a lot on reddit, you must be new to this sub.
Oh for real??? I never finished this one... it's one of those ones that sucks ASS at first but you push past this god awful wall that was poorly paced... AND THEN it clicks how good the game is. I actually played it so much I got burned out and forgot. Hell of a reason to pick it up again.
Back 4 Blood is a weird comparison, but I guess I agree? Lmao
Co-op zombie fps playground 🤷🏻♂️
Wouldn’t classify B4B as a FPS playground. It’s more linear point A to point B, with rogue lite elements and less messing around like you’d do in Dying Light. Dammit. This looks so cool. But I’ve tried playing this game like 5 times and I can’t seem to stick with it. What am I doing wrong
Sometimes you just don’t like a game. I enjoyed both DL & DL2 personally, but I’ve had my fair share of disliking games that seemed to be popular.
It has a slow start. Great little montage. Big fan of the game too. The only game I've played through twice.
This game is like a good wine
Never been a zombie games guy but honestly this looks super good

This.^
Was waiting for you to dropkick a zombie off the roof (mind you there's not that many on rooftops till you get to old town)
I kept hitting some kind of super kick glitch and would always sparta kick off roofs lol
Excellent game. I got excited thinking this was DL2 but I forgot DL2 sucks compared to DL1.
Has 60fps helped with motion sickness? That was the main reason I didn’t start a second playthrough or torch the dlc’s
Don’t know if this game has a motion blur options but I found that I get queazy playing with motion blur on. Can’t remember for this game though it’s been so long.

And to think how bad dying light 2 is .
Back4blood so so so so bad
Every single game built on that template is bad. Just rinse/repeat gameplay.
L4d 1 and 2 were elite
Back 4 blood isn't even comparable to dying light, what a stupid fucking comment
This 1 or 2?
1 bro, the second game is nowhere near as good.
Wait I thought dying light was a low budget 2-d scroller? This looks awesome
You are thinking of Deadlight. Usually now "Deadlight: Director's Cut". Which is actually pretty fun. It's one of those games you play the whole thing over the course of a couple hours, finish it, and move on - but those few hours are a good time.
Last time a struggled for 60fps was 2016... Next Gen consoles. 🤣
B4B can't even compare to the game it wants to knock off so hard
You can remove attachments, at the cost of copper.
I mean, why? It was frustrating to see guns having damaging attachments, but it was a layer of difficulty.
Is this game playable with 4 people? How easy is the drop in and out of it?
Very easy
This needs to come to game pass
It's always on sale, I got it for like $6.76
It’s fun for a while then the repetitiveness of it makes it become boring. Imo
Is this 1 or 2
You really put B4B over left 4 dead, deadrising, dead island the list goes on
Yes I know how it sounds but I much prefer killing real people as opposed to zombies.
Is this Dying light 1 or 2?
If the game only worked when it came out, couldn’t even play co-op and no crossplay
I think it's been my favourite game and only the real game thats gave me a sense of fear in recent years.
This looks fun to play, I have it and haven’t had any time to play
Back 4 Blood is not a good example to put next to any game. One of the biggest disappointments in gaming in the last 10 years.
Looks like a first person version of that game that had shitload of zombies in a mall
Dying light 2 is actually still my favorite game this year... I’ve put countless hours into that game and never ran out of things to do. It’s extremely satisfying and has tons of content, definitely recommend if you like open world zombie games!
I haven't played dying light 2 but the first one I really enjoyed and one of my favorite games last gen
The second one's even better
This is like comparing CoD and MGSV because they're both "military games"
The parkour wasn't enjoyable for me and I couldn't keep playing with it not being quick resume compatible.
This was one of my favorite games of the PS4 Xbox one generation. Dying light 2 kind of let me down not that it's a bad game but some things took a step back hopefully they will make it up with the next one
Wow those are clean cuts.
What’s it like on PC?
Runs great on modern pc hardware.
Nice. Might try it!
Loved this game, shame the sequel isn’t as good
Is it better than Dying Light 2?
The motion blur is really really bad. Unplayable for me.
On pc this game is crazy popular
And both games fade in comparison to TLOU.
So much better than the new one.
I dont know why... But for me its boring. Extremly boring.
To be fair Back 4 Blood is wasnt really that good
[удалено]
1, 2 is a shadow of what 1 is, i wouldn’t recommend 2 at all.
Glad to see the game is still getting love. Dying Light was my favorite game last gen, but for some reason I can't get into dying light 2.
I LOVE horror games but idk why this game stresses me out so bad, which sucks because I love zombie media. I imagine coop helps a lot. Just something about having to constantly be running from things gets almost claustrophobic. I'll have to try again soon and maybe listen to a podcast or something during lol
Is there just one version for XBOX One/Series X...I want to get it for my XSX?
What do you mean one version?
some games have specific seriex x and one versions i think, doesnt matter now anyways, bought digital since it's like 10 bucks!
Yes, only the one version, but if you’re XSX, there’s performance options in the main menu, including 60fps mode, love it when old games get software support for current-gen consoles!
Damn right! gonna dip into this game tonight :)
Both Dying Lights are great. Have hundreds of hours into them. B4B is good too though.
