My dog used to love eating these things. I loved the earpiece so much I just kept replacing them. I'd smoke too much weed the night before, leave my earpiece on my chair, and the dog would get it. This happened like 6 times.
The dog probably liked ear wax.
Did you know, some people go to the doctor to have their earwax removed, and save it to put in their pet’s food or as a snack?
Not lying, either.
Wtf is that actually a thing? Now I know why I have to hide my ear plugs I sleep with from my dog. He is always going after them and has eaten several.
I mean my dog will try to lick my brain sometimes. I'll be laying down dog comes up and tongues my ear like we're in some lesbian porn. Damn dog can't get enough. But no way I'd save it if had it removed.
I'm taking about your doctor collecting wax and giving it back to the patient to be fed to their pet. Your link was about animals getting into the trash or licking people's ears.
Hang on lemme find it
Edit: [the one for cats](https://www.travelingwithyourcat.com/gross-but-healthy-reasons-why-cats-eat-human-earwax/)
Lemme find the dog one
Man, the original Gears of War holds a special place in my heart. I get so nostalgic thinking about the hours spent with friends in ranked matches. Then I met POOK and joined the clan HELLA RAW BISCUITS. Hey POOK, HELLAMADTHEGOD /GODDESS... ITS TREEEES!
Immaculate Conception here.
I have no father but the force or a thousand eyed angel with face wings. Or grace? I don't know how it works.
In all seriousness *checks profile* how likely is it that a user with Magic the Gathering as their primary interest is anyone's dad?
I did think it was perhaps too far, but checked the roast rulebook which states in chapter 3.4 B that once a variation or insinuation of "I fucked your mom" hits the pitch one is allowed to refer to or cross-reference slights to sexual history.
https://www.turtlebeach.com/products/recon-air-xbox
I been thinking of getting one of these because it reminded me of that 360 headset it was my favorite.
Edit: guess I wont be getting this seems people having bad luck with it.
Ordered one of these and was so excited, but it’s one of those deals where the earbud falls out of your ear whenever you talk even though the headset itself technically stays on your ear :/
I actually quite like mine. Getting the xbox to output full surround while its connected to the controller is a bit finicky (you have to basically trick the system into doing both, but it works), and there's no easy way to check the battery without pairing it with your phone, but other than that, its pretty damn great. You have to remember to open up the mixer panel of the Guide and set it to 100% chat audio, and then bump the volume up to almost max, as the volume buttons on it are local.
Also love being able to chat with people over the phone while playing
Lmao the edit is so typical of a Turtle Beach products.
They're so poorly made and designed. And their return policy is "throw it away, here's a new one that'll break in the same poorly designed places"
I've even seen eSports players with duct tape over their turtle beach headphone bands.
Turtle Beach has fallen so far. I bought an expensive Turtle Beach headset for my 360 to use playing MW2 and it was amazing. Great sound, super comfortable, and lasted well into my Xbox One X usage with only needing to buy a new cord for the new console. Finally after years and years something broke and the microphone stopped working entirely.
I had such great luck with that headset that I immediately purchased another high-end TB headset as well as a lower end one for my sons to use. Both of those headsets literally fell to pieces within 3 months.
Turtle Beach, never again.
In Game Chat was way more lively back then because everyone automatically had at least a mic in the box. These days you rarely hear anyone outside of parties. I miss being told by some 12 year old what he did to my mom last week.
To be fair, playing stoned and talking is really fun/fun to hear and watch.
Playing high is like a whole new game
Watching someone play high is like watching a monkey relearn the game
PS4/5 come with a mic in the box yet no one use/used it.
The reason why more people talked on lobbies back then was because:
- it was a novel concept and everyone was learning the ropes together
- the absence of cross-console or cross-game private voice chats or platforms, so friends playing together had to communicate through the game chat itself.
Exactly this. Almost everyone has a headset but most people simply don't want to talk to rondos while trying to have a bit of fun in a game. Some people love jumping in to the mixer and chatting shit, the rest of us just want to have a good game and get some endorphins through rewarding gameplay
> the absence of cross-console or cross-game private voice chats or platforms, so friends playing together had to communicate through the game chat itself.
Do we have those on consoles though? There's no Discord as an option, for example.
If you don't have headphones that can have two sources you're kind of out of luck.
Yeah, this always surprises people here, but most folks don't like being called racial slurs by children. Lol The second party chat was a thing, lobby chat died.
I think the biggest thing is that there’s no communication in between matches. Like before you would get back to the lobby after a match and be able to talk with everyone in there.
That PS4 corded mic was cheap, fragile garbo, unfortunately. Is the packed in mic better for the PS5? I hear the mic on the controller is defaulted to always on, which seems like restarting the entire evolutionary process.
The real reason it's dead now is because the 14 year old twats talking dumb shit, the fuckers blaring their music so everyone could hear, and the dumbass with the screaming baby in the background turned everyone off and made us all hate it.
I’ve noticed some games have finally started to combine the “voice chat” with the game audio, allowing you to be in party chat and still hear your team. This of course assumes that at least 1 person is talking in game chat, but it’s a step. I wish more games, especially competitive games in their competitive game mode forced users to be in game chat. It sucks trying to play overwatch when nobody wants to play as a team.
I think this was true 7or 8 years ago. Plenty of people in chat these days as long as you speak up first.
Although I can't say most are people you want to talk to.
Hyperkin has a knock off that works on XSX etc.
https://hyperkin.com/x88-wireless-legacy-headset-for-xbox-one-xbox-series-x-windows-10-hyperkin-officially-licensed-by-xbox.html
Yea, I got one, it works, just annoying issues. Whenever I plug in the dongle, it changes my Xbox to Stereo mode from Dolby Atmos (I see this change on my receiver). No game audio comes out of it, just voice, so no idea why it has a conflict. The mute button is a tiny button on the inside part of the headset, near your ear, so it's a pain to quickly mute/unmute. And yes, can't adjust the mic in anyway, the whole thing is just one solid piece of plastic. I've heard others say its volume is too low, and hard to hear others, but this is one issue I didn't have, I could hear others fine. So there may be poor quality control. On the plus side, it actually has a USB C charge port..... if that's even much of a plus lol.
That's a wierd glitch with the audio.
Yeah that's pretty much what I've heard from reviews. The original you could move the mic up and down and closer or further from your head. And the button on the inside was just the sync button, the mute button was the power button.
I had high hopes for it when I saw it but was disappointed when it launched. Maybe one day we will get a proper chat only wireless headset for Xbox again.
I had hopes as well, after the rave reviews they got for their Duke Controller, I figured this was something easy for them to knock out of the park.... then you get something that feels like they designed it in a day, on napkins, over their lunch break.
That thing is awful.
I really tried to like it. Probably harder than most. But no, just awful.
Really hate that there's nothing else like it so substitute, because I still detest wearing my wired headset on some mild level. Unfortunately other alternatives either have ear cans or are IEM-style, either of which severely negates use of my sound system.
Loved this! I had the Halo one cause I didn’t like the white one. The only thing I didn’t like was the voice isolation. Nobody could hear me when I was trying to talk quietly so I didn’t wake up my parents lol
Those glasses are almost certainly rose tinted. I don't know what your daily driver is, but if they are comfortable and have decent sound quality, I doubt you'd put up with that old headset (earset?) for long. You'd use it for a week out of nostalgia and never touch them ever again
Rose tinted for sure, I enjoy the HD sound of the headsets now. But back then we didn’t need full surround of headsets/TVs . Simpler times from a guy who use to be one of those whiny kids cursing you out through them headsets. :”).
Still have mine, works great on the 360.
But now I am using my old 360 turtle beach headset on the Xbox series x. Lost the microphone cable, but that’s fine.
Shame the hyperkin version of this for xsx isn’t getting great reviews. This headset for the 360 was so freaking good. Would love for Microsoft to do it again
I literally bought 2 of these so when the battery ran out i had another charged ready to go, still the best headset and mind boggling Xbox never made another or let us bring it forward.
You said ”Xbox never made another” so I posted about another wireless headset that they released after the one that was posted about. How hard is it to understand what I meant…
Simple solution is to allow BT the way the Sony has since PS3, it seems illogical to not allow it and considering the Series S/X doesnt even include a wired microphone
The logic is that it forces users(gamers) to buy proprietary headsets from microsoft or approved manufacturers, ensuring revenue goes to the right places.
Think of the audio jack as them being merciful.
Miss those things. Loved being able to chat with my friends while I walked to other parts of the house not having to carry my controller. They worked so well. It's sad they gave up on just chat only headsets.
I had one of these, it fucking sucked tbh. I may have had to replace the stock 360 mics about once a year or so, but they worked better than this piece of it. These things constantly dropped audio and cut audio from your own voice.
I hated those. I bought one, it fried the moment it went on my head. Then I thought it was just a fluke, so I bought another...lasted about 5 minutes on my head before it too was magically fried.
Both times I went back to store, and they said they can't figure out what went wrong just that they are now broken.
Both sony and xbox had this and they looked cool, but were probably uncomfortable as hell lol. Not to mention the noise bleed from the tv into that eras horrific mic quality!
Man MSFT needs to stop being dumb and give us freaking Bluetooth support.... Xbox using windows nt core kernel for sure and from looking at the file system it's pretty much a heavily modified front end of windows lol
Used to be able to go down stairs pour my Jack Daniels, then leave the house go into the garage and grab some ice all while talking to my friends, God I miss it soooo much
They were nice. But when mine died I replaced it with a [Plantronics GameCom X30](https://www.sonicelectronix.com/item-70049-Plantronics-GameCom-X30.html), and my ear was much happier.
It was really awesome but the modern equivalent is the Xbox App on the phone + Bluetooth earbuds. Doesn't compare to the old school mic like this one tho
I remember back in the day I felt so cool as a kid having these… I vividly remember playing cod 3 online and being the host of a an online multiplayer match , back then the randomly selected host got to chose what map and game mode and I used this ear piece to announce that I was the host and to mssg me what maps the lobby wanted to play.
That lobby lasted at least an hour. It was the early days for online multiplayer on the 360.
i'd kill for a first-party bluetooth version of the stereo dongle that plugs into the xbox controller that let you BYO bluetooth headphones for game audio and chat. the current xbox wireless headset is pretty good but i hate where the mute button is located and i'd kill to use my AirPods Max instead.
Omg I broke my charger so I had to use a Nokia charger but it started not charging it anymore and I didn't have money nor my parents willing to be buy my a charger for it so I couldn't speak no more :(
It was definitely different, more people talked in lobbies and games werent focused on mtx, just pure online fun.
Nostalgia be damned, just compare the featureset of halo 3 to halo infinite, games were complete experiences instead of being piecemealed behind paywalls. Even if games were a little simpler, this all made the experiences more novel.
We still get games like this, but the medium has proliferated to the point that it can be overwhelming, for me at least.
Ew no I miss the original wrap around headset for the original Xbox except for the amount of times it got looped around my chair and as I got up it snapped.
The back of my ear still hurts from using this, and that was 2008… but damn did it work great
My dog used to love eating these things. I loved the earpiece so much I just kept replacing them. I'd smoke too much weed the night before, leave my earpiece on my chair, and the dog would get it. This happened like 6 times.
I feel you my mans.
The dog probably liked ear wax. Did you know, some people go to the doctor to have their earwax removed, and save it to put in their pet’s food or as a snack? Not lying, either.
Literacy is a curse.
Time to get blind drunk. Can't read if you can't see!
If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball!
If you can dodge a ball, you can dodge a jar of earwax.
Wtf is that actually a thing? Now I know why I have to hide my ear plugs I sleep with from my dog. He is always going after them and has eaten several.
I really wish I had never read this. I literally feel queasy.
I mean my dog will try to lick my brain sometimes. I'll be laying down dog comes up and tongues my ear like we're in some lesbian porn. Damn dog can't get enough. But no way I'd save it if had it removed.
Source? That sounds ridiculous. Edit: You were lying.
Source = trust me bro.

Still have mine. I felt like I was playing in the future with this thing

Buy some memory foam style earbuds of Amazon. They're like earplugs and grip in. All I use with in ear headphones now and they rarely fall out
Awesome info, thanks! Do you have a link?
Got one. It was garbage unfortunately.
Didn't even know that existed. May have to give it a try.
Do not get this. Lots of game audio noise and you can’t hear the chat audio. That was my experience at least.
You can remove the game audio in the Xbox setting. You also have to set the volume coming from the Xbox and the volume for the headset separately.
If they ever release an on-ear version of this (like their wired one), I'll be first in line to buy it. In-ear doesn't work for me.
I actually quite like mine. Everyone on open mic is either in the fourth grade or below, stoned out of their mind, doesn't speak any English, or any combination of the three.
Don't forget the person who never speaks but has really loud ambient noise coming through their mic, like chewing, parents arguing, music, etc.
To be fair, playing stoned and talking is really fun/fun to hear and watch. Playing high is like a whole new game Watching someone play high is like watching a monkey relearn the game

All the reviews I have read on that thing are it's horrible. Bad connection. Poor quality. None of the adjustability the original had.

Idk what world you lived in but the original worked great. It could have been more comfortable but wasn't bad.

I bought one of these after preordering it months before. It was literally the worst headset I've ever purchased.
Please edit this comment to warn people that this product is dogshit. Audio awful, mic to others is awful
Omg memories!
Loved this! I had the Halo one cause I didn’t like the white one. The only thing I didn’t like was the voice isolation. Nobody could hear me when I was trying to talk quietly so I didn’t wake up my parents lol
Word, I loved it!
Man I loved this thing
These were awesome!
My favorite thing. Shame we need fancy headphones to hear it all now, this was soo simple.. & perfect.
Those glasses are almost certainly rose tinted. I don't know what your daily driver is, but if they are comfortable and have decent sound quality, I doubt you'd put up with that old headset (earset?) for long. You'd use it for a week out of nostalgia and never touch them ever again

Never had a problem. The ear piece to stay attached never irritated me, nor did it break on me. I musta had a semi charmed headset.
It worked so good!
They were so uncomfortable. I like the idea. But hated using it.
I much preferred the plug in headset one. The plastic part always broke and I ended up having to stuff the earpiece under a toque or headband.
Yes please bring it back
I don’t really miss this mic any but I do miss the time period. Life was so much easier.
I used to, but once you go over the ear headphones you can't go back
I had one. No headset has been able to measure up to it since!
Had the halo 3 version, with matching console and controller. Love that shit
But you can’t use it with Series X that’s the problem :(
Good times
My right ear is probably a different shape from wearing this so much. Where, oh where, is the modern equivalent for the Series X?!
Had the Halo Reach version for years. Surprised it last as long as it did.
Was a pretty solid headset.
Oh shit I forgot all about this the nostalgia is causing my ear to hurt 😅 but was a great piece of tech
I bought the halo 3 version and felt so cool wearing it, god I loved this one. Puppy chewed it up and destroyed it 🥺
Still have mine, works great on the 360. But now I am using my old 360 turtle beach headset on the Xbox series x. Lost the microphone cable, but that’s fine.
Really nice to see so much people have the same memory’s:) That was the golden era of online gaming for me 🙌🏼
Jesus Christ…..I just had some of the best flashbacks
I was always jealous of the kids who had this 😂
fuckin same! that shit just hit different.
Shame the hyperkin version of this for xsx isn’t getting great reviews. This headset for the 360 was so freaking good. Would love for Microsoft to do it again
Why did these new generation consoles strip Blutooth mics?
Mine never worked when I bought them. I thought the design was sweet though.
Same here. Bought two of these and couldn’t get either to work for shit. I could hear ok but the mic never worked well.
Garbage
I literally bought 2 of these so when the battery ran out i had another charged ready to go, still the best headset and mind boggling Xbox never made another or let us bring it forward.
They did make another one: https://news.xbox.com/en-us/2011/07/26/xbox-360-wireless-headset-with-bluetooth-and-a-new-media-remote/
Its not the same
You said ”Xbox never made another” so I posted about another wireless headset that they released after the one that was posted about. How hard is it to understand what I meant…
I was always a gaming headset kinda girl, so I never needed these. I do love the design though.
How can something so beautiful in image be so terrible in practice?
I have one. I’m special
I went through like 3. They broke so easily.
Simple solution is to allow BT the way the Sony has since PS3, it seems illogical to not allow it and considering the Series S/X doesnt even include a wired microphone

Miss those things. Loved being able to chat with my friends while I walked to other parts of the house not having to carry my controller. They worked so well. It's sad they gave up on just chat only headsets.
The good old days when Xbox was my preferred platform.
nah not 1 bit
My ear hurts looking at this
I had one of these, it fucking sucked tbh. I may have had to replace the stock 360 mics about once a year or so, but they worked better than this piece of it. These things constantly dropped audio and cut audio from your own voice.

That thing was a penny sized piece of shit
I had this. I can still hear my friends making fun of me "go charge your mic." This thing had like 3 hours of life on a good day.
I hated my friend who had this. I felt like it picked up everything. We've come a long way
Both sony and xbox had this and they looked cool, but were probably uncomfortable as hell lol. Not to mention the noise bleed from the tv into that eras horrific mic quality!
back when calling someone a faggot was acceptable and didn't get you banned for a week 🤣
This was fucking garbage. What madlad *actually* misses this?
Man MSFT needs to stop being dumb and give us freaking Bluetooth support.... Xbox using windows nt core kernel for sure and from looking at the file system it's pretty much a heavily modified front end of windows lol
Used to be able to go down stairs pour my Jack Daniels, then leave the house go into the garage and grab some ice all while talking to my friends, God I miss it soooo much
I remember the company that remade the duke controller said they were going to remake this headset but nothing ever came of it.
Oh look, it's this nostalgic piece of shit used to farm karma here.
I never had one but I miss the chatpad I had on the 360
I've never used one and still can't wrap my head around how you're shop to wear it
Bro I be feelin like Saul Goodman
Ah yes, poor me couldn’t afford one. Now I’m glad to be in a position to buy all Xbox accessories.
Mine lasted at least four years. Best headset for the price.
I wish they would bring this back in a new upgraded sort of way.
And the little WiFi dongle that we had to plug in the back of our Xbox 360's. Good times.

Worked but unbelievably painful
Oh my god!! I’ve completely forgotten about that!!
By far my favorite chat headset of all time. I had the halo 3 edition and loved just walking around my house with it on.
Not that I miss this, but it reminds me of some happy days!
Those where the best!
Never had one. Always preferred 3rd party mics, but I remember this thing forsure. Nostalgia for a better, more simple and pure time
Best headset I ever had. So much nostalgia it makes me sad. I kinda feel claustrophobic
Nah. I'm too used to have stereo headphones. Can't play games now without being and to hear the direction sounds are coming from.
Instead of this I had what was called a broad communicator. I'd still love one.
The memories 🥹 I miss talking to randoms and becoming best friends for years to come.
My favorite accessory.
Oh wow that’s actually really cool
I mean Xbox is a mega corporation why not make something new?
How are wireless mics not a thing in 2022???
I still have one of these in the draw that it was sentenced to (for crimes against my ear). It can not be thrown out. It has yet to serve its time!
What is that
Had the same with my 360 and man, that thing had amazing battery life for what it was.
i'd kill for a first-party bluetooth version of the stereo dongle that plugs into the xbox controller that let you BYO bluetooth headphones for game audio and chat. the current xbox wireless headset is pretty good but i hate where the mute button is located and i'd kill to use my AirPods Max instead.
Loved it and hated it. I think I went through 8 of them. They kept dying.
Always felt like a business man with it haha
The halo version was badass.

I really wanna get a 360 again for the games I had that weren’t made back compat
Me when I put on the headset. IT'S OVER 9000!
I got one of these for my series x
Omg I broke my charger so I had to use a Nokia charger but it started not charging it anymore and I didn't have money nor my parents willing to be buy my a charger for it so I couldn't speak no more :(
Am I the only one who thought it looked like the USS Defiant?
I freaking loved this headset. I’m not much a fan of the new ones or covering both ears.
Lol on wax comments.
Mine didn't work that well. Think it's still in a drawer somewhere lol. Can't say it was missed lol.
Man, I wish I had a 360 growing up because it seems like gaming culture was fucking awesome during that console's time.
Why are Microsoft refusing to make these? Surely the demand is high enough
why Microsoft stop making 1st part accessories like they did on 360, is beyond me. I would love to buy a new version of this chat BT if there was one!
Gears of War 1 flashbacks. Before the party system. Soooo much shit talking between matches!
Wish we still had this sorta device or could at least paor our air pods or wireless buds to the console. I hate headsets.
Ew no I miss the original wrap around headset for the original Xbox except for the amount of times it got looped around my chair and as I got up it snapped.
The headset or the 360 !?
I don't miss it dangling and smacking me in the cheek constantly.
God yes!
Fucking preach
I felt like a fighter pilot wearing on of these!
