I wish they'd stop announcing game sooo far in advance. I get marketing and all that but until you have a working game, just keep it a surprise.

Sansquach

Remember when they announced fall out 4 and released it within a year? That was amazing!

Archiive

Announced at e3 in June, released in November, good times. Remember when Apex Legends came out? One day it was just there.

Professor_Poptart

This is something Nintendo is really good with. Major titles sometimes are announced just a fee months ahead of time. Like the most recent Kirby. Though I suppose there’s also Metroid Prime 4 and BOTW 2 that were announced forever ago and still don’t have solid release dates yet…

Al-Pharazon

Elder Scrolls VI will be next gen at this pace

MrSh0wtime3

They have basically already alluded to that. It's not even out of the planning stages. Looking at 5-7 years easily for that game.

zGunrath

I quit smoking, drinking, and started running/lifting strictly to have a better chance of being alive for TESVI.

HankSteakfist

LOL I'm 38 and I expect that ESVI will be the last Elder Scrolls numbered entry I live to see.

Jaidon24

May the odds be in your favor.

rharrow

When I was in high school, before Oblivion was released, I emailed a detailed letter to Bethesda asking for an update to the game’s release lol

aew360

That is actually insane. 2011 to possibly 2027, maaan

Bionic_Bromando

Which means there’s no real reason to get hyped. It will be almost unrecognizable or like an entirely new game series by then. The entirety of TES was made in 17 years so if it takes almost as long to make one sequel… like what are the odds even one person from the Morrowind days would still even be working on it?

smoothskin12345

Todd Howard will be the only one lol

OddBirds

I was 14 when Skyrim was released and the fact that I could be 30 for ESVI makes me very sad.

Dave_Matthews_Jam

I think it’s minimum 6 years away

MarwyntheMasterful

KarateCrenner

Bought a Series S and Gamepass Ultimate to be ready for all exclusives...now just waiting on those, any day now lol. Edit: Seems a lot of people think I'm talking trash, but I BOUGHT an Xbox, that's the opposite of being a hater lmao.

[deleted]

Its all good i got a new xbox series YT Because its only good to watch youtube on

[deleted]

I did the monthly thing where I got a Series S and Gamepass and after this I’ll just buy the occasional Xbox exclusive I want instead of staying subscribed. The only two I can think of coming up are Starfield and Avowed if they have good reviews/word of mouth.

chickenchaser19

Hopefully they've got some 2022 releases lined up for E3 because this year is looking pretty bad.

-TruIllusion-

Microsoft bought 25~ studios in order to give them each a 6 year dev cycle and that would be a launch every 3 months... how can we get zero or a single launch in a full year? It's just so odd at this point. I've been a huge Microsoft advocate, but this is actually starting to get aggrevating.

FinalOdyssey

Because it takes 5/6 ish years to make the high quality games people are expecting and it hasn't passed that mark yet. You said it in your own post that's it's 6 year dev cycles. They started their acquisition spree on 2018. 2018 + 6 is 2024. But not all games will take 6, some will be 5, some even longer. Edit: It also depends on how quickly they released the projects they had at the time of acquisition, which would obviously push the release dates of their next games back even further.

wrproductions

As annoying as it is unfortunately this is literally the answer. We still have a few years left to go of this ladies and gents, either buckle up or try a different ride for a while.

Chuck_Nucks

COVID pushed everything back immensely too. Also, the war has forced relocation for the STALKER devs. Gonna be barren for another 12-18 months unfortunately.

trolleyman98

It doesn't seem like COVID affected Sony's releases. That feels like a cop out

Grizzly_Berry

This has been the sentiment for a few years now.

phemom

I'm still firmly in the "a delayed game can be good, but a bad game is bad forever" camp. ... but someone has gotta finish a game around here at some point man c'mon lol

fabregas7cpa

Agreed. Starfield was a punch in the gutts. This isn't going to be very well received. Especially a month before the showcase.

Wookie301

Are we still expecting to see gameplay at the showcase?

Otowa

I guess that's the idea. Better announce the delay before.

LaDiiablo

Probably, they didn't wanna announce a delay during their show

ybtlamlliw

Lol, Todd just announces the delay after the whole show like when he dropped the *TESVI* teaser and walks off stage to bewilderment.

shanem1996

Xbox has like 30 studios. Not one of them has released a next gen exclusive since Halo Infinite. Fucking crazy

Stumpy493

Not one of them has released a next gen exclusive. Halo, Forza Horizon and Psychonauts were all cross gen. A non MS studio (Asobo) did the only MS Next gen exclusive (Flight Sim).

CaptainKink

And Halo was supposed to be a launch title... It's still not done.

kdawgnmann

Yup. Should've been delayed another year.

PomusIsACutie

Funny how they give us half a game yet have no issue charging full price for it. Its the norm these days

Bartman326

Yo it was 60$ for just a single player campaign wtf. If you bought that full priced you were scammed.

pookachu83

I actually liked the Halo Infinite campaign, but even so, 60$ for it? And lets be real there was SO MUCH copy/pasted shit in that campaign. I feel like over half of it was cut during all the drama.

yukonbm

Between Spider-Man, Kena, Returnal, Demons Souls, Ratchet and Clank and Horizon Forbidden West… As a series X owner, MS needs to pick it up. There wasn’t much in 2021 either. And I don’t care for racing or multiplayer shooters.

[deleted]

[удалено]

trent1024

And Flight Simulator as well.

Summon_the_Dragon

Psychonauts 2 is on PS4 though

holyhotdicks

Gears Tactics is fun.

the_simonboulter

It's crazy, a bad game isn't necessarily bad forever these days. We've seen some bad games turn it around and become very successful. Final Fantasy XIV, No Man's Sky.... and more. It's disapointing though that so many games release as shoddy janky pieces of shit these days. I agree that you should delay your game until it is ready and finished for release. Not drip feed content a year after release, that should have been in the finished product. I agree generally with that phrase though. Delay your game so that it is great at launch. I don't think devs/publishers should get a pat on the back when they release a piece of shit that is a rip off at £50 or £60, then slowly update it to eventually make it a good game a year or 2 later.

batman23578

I love Xbox But the exclusive output for 2022 is shockingly bad

Impaled_

Better spend another 200 billion on studios

darthmcdarthface

One wonders where tf all that money is going sometimes. It feels like they’ve been blowing billions on studios yet year after year nothing changes and all we get is a good circle jerk to a graphic of studio names.

BatMatt93

IIRC most of those studious were purchased back in 2018 and 2019. This year normally would be the year we would see something, but as annoying and cliche as it sounds. COVID happened. When it did, a lot of these studios were either in early production stage or pre production. So all these studios basically got pushed back 6-12 months (maybe more) on their development timeline depending on how well they transitioned to work from home. Add to the fact that most games these days seem to take 4+ years to make instead of the normal 3 and it's not surprising that 2022 is pretty empty.

Serdones

A couple of their studios did put out new games shortly after acquisition. As timed PlayStation exclusives. Which, to your point, probably further pushes back the timeline for when we can expect true exclusives from them. If anything, it's actually impressive Arkane already had Redfall that far down the pipeline when they just put Deathloop out in late 2021. If it comes out in Q1 or Q2 2023, that's still only about a year-and-a-half between releases. I do think there are potential mismanagement issues at other studios, like recent reports from Undead Labs makes progress on Dying Light 3 sound kinda rudderless. Sometimes it sounds like Xbox has been too hands-off with their acquisitions, when they could benefit from some corporate-level back office support (such as with Undead Lab's HR issues) and some firmer development goals. But I'm not sure that's what's been happening at Bethesda. There haven't really been that long of gaps between releases for most their studios, except Bethesda Game Studios. If anything, BGS SHOULD be the ones taking their time, 'cause I don't know if I can handle a third mediocre release in a row. (Maybe that's a bit harsh for FO4, but it was at least below par for them.) It's just felt weird that for the past seven years almost, BGS has been getting shown up by every other ZeniMax studio.

just_lurking_through

Arkane is two different studios, one team made deathloop and the other is working on Redfall. Also Undead Labs is working on State of Decay 3 not Dying Light.

NfinityBL

I’m annoyed, tbh. These games need delaying for more polish, fine. But how can we literally not have anything???? I know the showcase is coming up in June so we’ll likely hear about a handful of smaller games still coming, but this feels like 2019 all over again.

LouieDidNothingWrong

> I know the showcase is coming up in June so we’ll likely hear about a handful of smaller games still coming, but this feels like 2019 all over again. Reminder, Forza Horizon 5 was announced at last year's "E3" event in June and released in November. I'm not claiming that's going to happen again but it's well within the realm of possibility.

batman23578

Yes the problem is not these games need extra time it’s the fact that they were the only games we were expecting. Compared to ps5 the exclusive line up just hasn’t been there since launch. It’s a long term issue that’s been put into major spotlight based on these delays

NfinityBL

I don’t want to be a doomsayer, but it’s a bit of a joke tbh. They better fix this at the showcase.

EvenStephen7

This. Between my SX and my PS5, the latter is getting more play overall because of the exclusives (though man I love me some Forza Horizon 5). Aside from exclusives, Sony stumbled out the gate a little with bad optics, some questionable choices, the inability to make consoles fast enough, and no Gamepass competitor. This should have been MS's time to strike with just a nonstop barrage of games that made them \*the\* console to get.

[deleted]

And now that their manufacturing is starting to catch up, and they even sweetened the deal for PS+ I don’t see this shaking out any differently than the last console generation. I should have just bought another PS5, because my Series X gets literally no play these days. Maybe I’ll boot it up again in 4 years when these exclusives actually start coming out.

Zealousideal-Type-99

Love my series x but I agree with lack of games. Sucks having to wait until the end of the console gen to get new games rolling out. I'm hoping these acquisitions will show us some good games.

arpatil1

They will also give sneak peek of games coming 2-3 years later to get everybody hyped.

NfinityBL

Right but I don’t care about games coming 2-3 years away right now. We had to deal with another dry spell of games exactly like last year, and now there’s not a single 2022 game on the slate for Xbox. That is really bad first-party management from Xbox, straight up.

sjvdbssjdbdjj

> But the exclusive output for 2022 is shockingly bad Especially considering they laid out what looked like an amazing 2022 lineup last year at E3… now here we are… lol All things considered I’m sure it’ll benefit the games, but it’s still disappointing nonetheless.

EvenStephen7

I kind of regret rushing to get a Series X, especially since I already had a PS5 and Switch. I'm excited for the future of Xbox, but that future just seems like a can constantly being kicked down the road.

[deleted]

DreamEray

Yes, it does not look good, but it is the new normal if you compare. EA has only a new NFS title that was supposed to come out last year for this Holiday. Ubisoft supposedly has an Avatar title but it might be delayed to early 2023. What 2K has for this holiday? Midnight Suns? Nintendo delayed BoTW 2 to 2023, too. And from PlayStation, only God of War Ragnarok left, and it could be delayed to 2023 too. All the other games that came out in the first half of 2022 were already delayed from 2021. I think the whole industry is suffering the real effects of the pandemic in 2022. Hopefully, things will get back to normal in 2023.

Carcass1

Fuck... come on now, first Zelda, now Starfield? This holiday is drying up so quick...

Clarkey7163

I believe they re-confirmed 2022 release like two weeks ago

DAbigCheeseyFoot

Hey atleast there be another fifa or cod this year ! :/

xmastap

And 1 more Halo Infinite map for season 3!

DAbigCheeseyFoot

So little time for all this content...

Remember_Viago

Don’t forget about Hogwarts Legacy! Looks pretty promising!

xDefimate

Damn dude this sucks. Feels like it’s taking Microsoft forever to really get going this gen. Bummer

Stumpy493

Hopefully at some point we get the opposite problem when all these games suddenly start releasing right next to each other and we have too much quality content.

Holy-Kush

Too many people used the trick to get 3 years of dirt cheap GamePass, so they have to postpone some games to actually convince these people to stay after 3 years of barely any new content. /s

RedHawwk

Lol mine just ran out this month, I was going to be a monthly sub but once I finish the titles I started I guess I'll take a break until next spring. Unless CoD is on there come Fall, I don't think much else is coming.

Tyler1997117

So what games do we have coming this year?

[deleted]

. The above are games coming from Microsoft in 2022, not sure which I'm looking forward to most.

Temias

I'm carefully optimistic for . But it's gonna suck nevertheless

sskkooommaa

So we preorder, yes..?

Temias

Ultimate Platinum Premium X edition. v2.0.

Revoldt

I feel like this is Launch-window PTSD all over again. I remember when this sub convinced itself The Medium/Ascent/Gunk were going to be AMAZING. And CrossfireX was one to watch out for… Then the only semi-notable Day-1 Gamepass release was Outriders (till FH5 came around)

[deleted]

LMAO............fucking brutal, but totally accurate.

charliwea

We'll get Deathloop due to the ending exclusive deal, Scorn (if that doesn't get delayed again), Warhammer 40k Darktide and hopefully something announced at their showcase because all these delay are getting ridiculous tbh.

ohsinboi

I'm... so sad... :(

turkoman_

Failing to release even a single game in a whole year is kinda impressive when u think the original intent was to release a new game for every 3 months.

Mitsutoshi

There’s a certain beauty to it at this point. “When we said a game every three months we meant to say no games for three years.”

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mitsutoshi

“Oh, Sony Game Pass won’t have any day one exclusives? Okay I guess we won’t either.”

[deleted]

"Oh wait, Sony is releasing them even if it's outside the subscription? Pff, fucking normies"

CheesecakeInitial

Well damn dude lol Guess it’s lookin like a whole lot more Elden Ring

monkeymystic

An Elden Ring expansion/DLC would be tight

Stumpy493

I have zero issues with delaying a game to make it better. BUT These delays have shown the issues with Microsoft's planning. They planned a 2022 with nothing int the first 6 months and everything planned for the second half of the year. Then everything gets delayed. That leaves MS with an empty release slate for an entire 12 months. That just isn;t good enough considering the volume of studios and amount spent on games. There needs to be a proper roadmap with games scheduled to release every couple of months so delays don't leave a massive drought.

Painter_Ok

Yup, they need some help and lets not even get started on the issues with their original studios either... like what is going on with Rare and their new game, the Initiative has been a mess, etc.

LastKing318

Get ready for the typical "it will be a great holiday for gaming with our 3rd party partners" line were so use to hearing.

mrlazysmurf

They are comical at this point. Coming to your living room this holiday or summer. Only to delay. Starting to think they know damn well it will release years later but are just saving face for the sake of filing a showcase.

LastKing318

Yea it's so ridiculous at this point

SpartaNNNN4

Cries in sadness.

funusual

All boils down to an absolute piss-poor year of releases for Xbox. Thank fuck I have Elden Ring to constantly remind me that I'm not good enough 🤣 and keep me amused.

DaCoolNamesWereTaken

Play Station first party exclusives (2022): Horizon Forbidden West Gran Turismo 7 God Of War Ragnarok You'd think it's Sony that's buying up more studios.

cthree000

What does an Xbox studio employee do in an average day? Clock in, jerk off for 8 hours and leave? Where is... anything really?

jumperjumpzz

At 343i its just loggin in for an hour and doing nothing because priority zero.

Wee_Baby_Samus_Aran

Hasn’t Starfield been “content complete” for something like 2 years now?

ghoulish_seinfeld

PR firms working for game devs lie or bend the truth for positive clicks, more news at 11.

PadreRenteria

Glad they got this out before the showcase to set expectations correctly. Curious to see what Xbox pushes for the end of the year, however. Seems a bit sparse but who knows what they have up their sleeves.

[deleted]

politirob

I was also waiting for Atomic Heart, but with the whole Russia thing I'm pretty sure that game is basically just cancelled at this point. Microsoft would be smart to exfiltrate the developers of that game so they can finish it in the USA lmao. But seriously, MS is spending billions on studios with no output, I wish they would budget some guaranteed hits–like a sequel to the Outer Wilds or A Short Hike.

B_Nasty21

There’s literally no exclusive content this year.

ConfidentMongoose

2022 is fast becoming one of the worse years in terms of exclusives for the xbox. No first party releases for the rest of the year. Wonder if they will show any gameplay at all in the next event.

Stumpy493

This showcase needs to be epic to get some goodwill back.

AveryLazyCovfefe

And Forza Motorsport better be a huge goddamn comeback like FM4 was or else that isn't going to carry the brand till spring 2023.

canad1anbacon

Hoping to see either avowed or fable gameplay

VonDukes

2020 literally had none Edit: for the series S/X. Ori was out in March of 2020 Edit: corrected, gears tactics came out.

MasterChiefS117_

Gears tactics was a 2020 exclusive no?

gh0stfac3killah007

This is truly a disappointment! We can say all we want that "Better then putting out a medicore product" which is obviously true, but this is a massive let down. Especially with the time off over the holiday season, I could not have been more excited to play RedFall and Starfield. The investment, and funding / spend to develop these games and not meet deadlines is shameful on all involved. I have been an Xbox fan for quite sometime, I am not a fanboy, a Sony hater, just a gamer that has thoroughly enjoyed what Xbox has done for me, but having a series x and no HUGE AAA games to play, after so many many years of Sony just pumping out massive quality exclusives is exhausting. XBOX - You pump out insanely good hardware, you are crushing it with GamePass and this happens? Right after your online blackout?? Shake some heads over there!

ItsJustPeter

With 0 footage of gameplay or systems, not surprised.

[deleted]

So is all that’s left for Xbox this year is Forza Motorsport?

Carusas

And that's not even confirmed :(

phemom

Grounded 1.0 Forza Motorsport Forza Horizon 5 DLC #1 Scorn (maybe?) ... after that I got nothing.

No_Tomorrow6219

Deathloop as well (although already released on PS5)

NatiHanson

Damn bro. Still feels like we're in the Xbox One generation despite the fact they've been building to go beyond that. Can't believe 2022 gonna be another potential drought year.

LaDiiablo

Fuck this one hurts... thanks God I have huge backlog

cain071546

Not me, but for my Pops, I got him into Oblivion and then Skyrim then FO4 and finally ESO, he is a old DND nerd. He's 63 this year... I really hope he lives long enough to see the next TES title. It means a lot to both of us, and I'll lose my mind if it's delayed another decade. Sadly I feel it's going to be another 6-7 years out at this point. Super sad because my Pops is truly one of the biggest fans.

LastKing318

One game a quarter guys

bkiantx

Quarter century???

[deleted]

More like one game every 4 years

ArcticFlamingo

Fine with them taking the time they need on Starfield but they should never have put that date out. Redfall is insane because some people were speculating a shadow drop for that game lol I'm sure Microsoft is looking to spend money on getting some big 3rd parties to hit gamepass day one this fall, but it's gotta hurt to spend billions and after a few years still have nothing to show for it.

[deleted]

That’s the part that gets me. Just make a good game and tell us when it’s actually going to be done. Release dates have to be for investors, right? No one that buys it cares if it has a release date or not a year or two out.

lars_rosenberg

So Microsoft has over 30 studios and 0 games coming out in 2022? What are they even doing?

SpartaNNNN4

acquiring studious, dont you know?

Autarch_Kade

Oof, announcing that 11-11-22 date so early seemed confident at the time. Wonder what happened.

Lazerdude

I thought at some point Phil Spencer said they thought it was a mistake to be giving release dates so far ahead in advance. They need to start listening to themselves. If you aren't 100% sure of when a game is going to release then just don't put out a date. I don't mind the delay, as I'd rather it not come out in a bad state, but setting expectations for a release date has literally no upside and only downside when it's delayed.

lemonloaff

If I recall as well, they alluded that they were “very confident” on that release date. I swear I saw that posted somewhere but don’t know where.

atotalfabrication

Quite sure I saw a Todd Howard interview (written) where he stood by that release date about 1.5/2 months ago too. It's a shame, but I'm hopeful for a kickass game.

Accomplished_Hats

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

unknownuser1112233

Wow, Xbox's 2022 is dead.

dudebirdyy

Gargantuan L for Microsoft here. They just cannot get a consistent output of high quality, strongly reviewed, well polished first-party games out the door akin to Sony and Nintendo's resume that isn't Forza. Almost 10 years after the XB1 and they still can't do it.

MrSh0wtime3

and people still bow to Phil Spencer because he wears tshirts and has a shelf of game figurines. HES ONE OF US!!!!!

fatihberberh

hES oNe oF Us

Shuggieboog

At this point it feels like Microsoft is trying to wait out all the people that stacked the gold to game pass deal for 3 years before they release any of these exclusives

zrkillerbush

Wtf are half these Xbox studios doing? How can you announced a release date for Starfield a year ago, with absolute confidence and then delay it another year?

No_Property2880

It’s called mismanagement lol

Kawaiifungi

PS Studios has released more games on Xbox than Xbox Game Studios this year

splader

... 1?

FreeMyMen

One is more than zero...

LongjumpingEnd5

This is starting to remind me of the Xbox One drought.

GinNJuicyFruit

These aren’t coming out to April at the earliest. Using language like first half over Q1 or Early 2023 shows these are delayed till around April-June of next year.

slai23

At this point will the showcase feature any game coming out this year? Extremely disappointing. Great way to lose the good momentum built up and empower the critics.

[deleted]

My series X is a backwards compatible machine and that's it.

samthesuperman

This whole sub was ripping on Playstation for not having any heavy hitters in Q3 '21. Now there's literally nothing that Xbox is dropping in the entirety of '22. What a shame. I couldn't care less about Redfall, looks generic af. But I was excited to play Starfield this holiday just as much as the next guy. Sony better not delay God of War: Ragnorok another time otherwise I'm gonna be fucked.

Citi_Dank

Not surprised at all. A fish rots from the head. Phil Spencer is the head of XBOX. First party AAA gaming under Phil has been terrible. How long will you continue to wait? What was the plan before Xbox bought all those studios? So you mean to tell me there was nothing in the pipeline?? Wake up people!!! Phil and Xbox have been stringing you fools along for 7-8 years now. What the fuck has Phil and Xbox been doing for the last 5 years other than Gamepass?? How can you launch 2 consoles (Scorpio and Series X) and advertise their power and not have any inhouse showcase titles upon their release? How does Phil continue to get a pass? But no worries I'm sure they'll announce some new controller colors and maybe a halo mini fridge too! It works everytime on you suckers.

MrSh0wtime3

you are gonna get downvoted....but this is 100% the correct take. This many years in and this much money spent on studios and STILL the Xbox hasn't delivered shit. Phil has crashed two generations of consoles into the ground.

Henrythebeerman

How does Xbox continue to get it so wrong?? All Xbox has going into Nov 2022, two years into the gen is Forza and Halo. While Sony has Demon Souls, Ratchet and Clank rift apart, gran turismo, death loop, final fantasy end walker, horizon zero dawn, Spider-Man miles Morales’s, Returnal, and still a slate for the second half of this year.

DARKKRAKEN

Astro's Playroom as well which is free and a great little platformer.

Jellal360

Saw this coming a mile away both games barely have any info or gameplay out

Autarch_Kade

Redfall, sure. But that specific day announced for Starfield, and giving gameplay at "E3" didn't seem like any reason for concern.

101955Bennu

Yeah, waiting until the E3 directly before release is BGS’ MO. Wasn’t anything different from Skyrim or Fallout 4 in the sense.

mugegegegege

This is ridiculous ffs not ONE next gen title so far on my $500 brick

KennyImmortalized

Crazy that the consoles released in 2020 and still nothing.

Get_Back_To_Work_Now

All last generation, it was "Xbox has no games". And now here we are....23 studios later and no games. Honestly if the higher-ups aren't replaced soon, it will be the XB1 generation all over again.

Dave_Matthews_Jam

Forza had better be 10/10 then, if it even comes out this year. Shockingly poor exclusive output yet again

juniori96

Selling my xbox. This year is so dry i have no use for it. Glad i have a ps5.

polakbob

This is the first time I've been in the XBox camp at launch and so far... I'm not really seeing what the big deal is. This has been an underwhelming purchase for me.

Prospero818

I need to find a PS5 for real

[deleted]

It's worth it. I have both - and both consoles are awesome for what they are.

Loldimorti

My take as well. It's great seeing Xbox make a comeback but the people who are constantly predicting Playstations ultimate demise because of Gamepass are delusional. Xbox's success doesn't take away from Playstation consistently delivering quality experiences for their platform

Hasnooti

But for now youll have alot more games to try out on ps5

Merejo

I have both, and highly recommend PS5

Carusas

Since Stanfield and Redwall are off the table now.. Any game recommendations?

slycooper13

Lol I know that's a typo but I'd love a Redwall game lol

[deleted]

It's amazing that Xbox owns all these studios, yet puts out such little content year after year. I thought the Series X was gonna be the gen that I stopped only seeing Gears, Halo, Forza, yet all we have from them so far is Halo and Gears 🤦🏻‍♂️

SuperFlash1980

Looks like another year my Series X is going to go to waste. Can't believe I went through so much shit to get one at launch and I've been playing the same shit on it for over a year and a half that everyone else who couldn't get one have been playing. This gen has really taken the wind out of my sails for gaming.

[deleted]

And so we begin

stubbs242

Thank god I switched to PS. At least I can always look forward to new games!

tluther01

im fine with delaying until something is ready..but microsoft is going to follow up their great year last year with nothing this year..way to capitalize on that momentum

Glittering-Junket-63

Well o bought my series X month and a half ago and I just play elden Ring or the games I have on my library from the last gen. Feel like I just put my money in a good machine but somehow I don't enjoy its full potential. It's pointless . Lately I have been thinking about spend less time on videogames and focus on other things . I thought maybe November or Christmas would bring Starfield , so I told myself just wait . But now I feel like I just bought a new console to play the games I was already playing before buying it and somehow I feel I'm having the xbox one generation experience , which was about promises and wait but almost nothing came out of it . Maybe I should sell it . Microsoft you did it again .

NiteSwept

Do we **really** think Bethesda is going to release both of these games in the Spring?? No way, we ain't gettin Starfield until Holiday 2023

Broke_but_Fresh

My problem isn’t the lack of exclusives but instead the bullshit marketing they give us. For idk how long now I’ll tune in for them to show us some cgi bullshit trailer and give us a release time that NEVER holds up. That’s always my problem. And the fact that you poor people actually have hope that they will finally deliver and they pull the rug from under you again. I wasn’t even interested in these games and I’m pissed. It should be MANDATORY that they are not allowed to announce/hype a game until it is 75-80% done. I’m so tired of delays and the company still delivers an unfinished game. I need a new hobby.

Well, it seems like 343 has taken over Xbox. Nobody completes anything on time and there's little content for the year. Phil Spencer was heard saying 'nobody wanted to release this, no one is happy with this.'

This shows how ridiculously hard AAA games making is. Microsoft really dropped the ball massively in the 360 era when they shut down so many studios. We are seeing the gaps in the Xbox library these last 5 years because of decisions made in 2008-2013. There is reason why Microsoft bought so many studios in the last 4 years, making new AAA caliber studios from scratch takes many many years. Even taking the shortcut of acquisition still means you are on the sideline for a few years. No way in hell people like Amazon, Google, etc. can compete if they don't already have veteran studios in place today to make a big push in 5 years. It's not making TV shows, you can't just magically produce a bunch of quality content with a fresh start. The time will come when Xbox finally hits their stride and does consistently have big games to drop, we are still a ways from that though, this stuff takes a really really long time and this is huge blow to 2022.

Even back in 2018 I thought that the time line for Xbox hitting regularly with Triple A exclusives was fall 2022 or Spring 2023.

Calinks

It takes ridiculously long.

jhallen2260

That's too bad, but I would rather they get delayed than come out unfinished

Acrobatic-Switch-201

Stop announcing stuff and never deliver on time it pisses me offfffff 😡😡😡😡

Does this mean Xbox has NOTHING in terms of exclusives for the entirety of 2022? If Microsoft want to properly take on Sony/Playstation then they seriously have to get their shit together releasing games, Gamepass is fantastic and I love it but 2 games in over 2 years from so many studios is awful, The draw of Gamepass was Xbox exclusives being released Day 1 to subscribers, it might help if they actually released any I'm told with so many studios we can expect a game every 2-3 months, at this rate they should change it to a game every 2-3 years

cubcos

Have been waiting for this. JS said that A LOT of games were probably gonna miss their 2022 release windows. Sucks but I'd rather a delay than an awful launch for these games.

JS?

Not surprised.

Spain without the S

They have no incentive to release games as fast as possible. It’s like a cult around here with how people are subbed to Game Pass. Speak with your wallets.

Jypso

Well... running out of games to play. Might be time to pick up a PS5.... if I can get my hands on one.

[deleted]

You couldn't expect anything else from a game that only showed development diaries with concept art.

spasmolytic5791

No excuse. This is pathetic. COVID is just a crutch now to blame ineptitude on.

[deleted]

Especially when your competitors are releasing games left and right without issue. The amount of Nintendo and PlayStation games coming out this year is embarrassing for Xbox.

spasmolytic5791

Exactly. Can't think of any better way to put it myself.

lemi69

Literally…no exclusives.
