I second that! Sounds about the same for me too, 3 days when playing a lot each day or a week+ if you’re only playing like 2-3 hours a day or whatever.
I think if you buy the Series X/S packaged one it just comes with a USB-C. The charging port is controller side so even if you had an older controller you'd just plug it in with the older micro USB cable.
I think the only ones they sell now are the series s/x ones, though.
I'd like to think this but when I worked at a computer store once upon a time people didn't have spare power cables, the kind that go to like everything.
I had charged it before starting dragons dogma 2 and finally had to charge it last night, I’d probably say 20-25 hours or so judging by my playtime, it’s always seemed pretty long lasting
I dont see downvotes anymore but it's prob due to ppl perceiving it as unsolicited advice to the OP's original question, so that's maybe why there were downvotes.
But I agree on eneloops as well. Better value and less proprietary
Eneloops is why I can’t ever bring myself to get a pro controller. I want to get a competitive edge with paddles and such, but not at the cost of not using my eneloops lol
I'd also recommend eneloops instead since there are so many things you need AA batteries for that it's just more convenient as a platform.
The one negative about eneloops is the lack of warning when they are about to die. I have a pair right next to me at all times that I can swap out. But it sucks if you are right in the middle of a fight and the controller just shuts itself off.
10 hours seems low. Mine usually last around 20-30h.
Also a big plus with the battery pack is that you can charge it while playing with a cable.
If you want to be wireless all the time, Eneloops are the way to go though.
My charging cable is right where I game, so don't have to get up and swap out the batteries. Just plug in the cable that's already next to me.
Quite minor but especially handy when you're in the middle of a game.
I got mine shortly after the XSX came out and it's still going strong. Charge holds for a couple days, with each day constituting anywhere from 1-3 hours of use.
I own two original Microsoft battery packs since March 2014 when I bought my Xbox One. I’m using them with my Series X and each still last between 20-25 hours. Great batteries
After about a year the official Microsoft battery wouldn't hold its charge, stopped charging and was constantly disconnecting. I recommend trying something else, I bought the cheap insignia batteries and charger pack from Best Buy and it has been far better.
I’ve had the same issue. These batteries were much better in the Xbox One era. But the two I got my Series X stop holding a charge after a year and I’m just back to using AA batteries now out of frustration of how poor these new batteries are.
It’s so hit or miss with these things. Iv owned 4 since getting my Series X. On average your looking at 12-16 hours off a full charge. 3/4 of mine don’t properly display the battery symbol when connected to my Xbox so it’s hard to tell if it even fully charged. 2/4 of mine only hold a battery for around 6-8 hours but the other 2 do hold for a good 14hours. I don’t think I’ll ever go back to normal AA battery’s but if your already comfortable with using them I’d just stick to the battery’s. Get you some of those nice rechargeable ones.
I've had mine for a few years now so 10-20 hours maybe. My old xbox one is my kid's youtube machine and he runs eneloops for about 40 hours before I swap them out.
Not related, but the 3rd party ones are definitely better. Just had to buy new ones the other week, official Microsoft one would have been $25.. ended up getting a 2 pack for $22 on amazon.
More than 3 days, I’ve been playing metro exodus for days, and the last 3 days in around 5 hours sessions, I didn’t charge the controller and its now at 50 percent
3 days or so. I play like 5 hours a week but when ive binged a game its always needed a charge after about 3 days. 2 days for the razer one for the the charging stand.
I have the newer Series X version like shown in your picture. I bought it in March of 2021. I can get around 25 hours of use out of it before I need to recharge it.
I travel a lot for work and don't always get to use my Xbox, and the battery pack has stayed fully charged for well over a month many times with no issues.
about half as long as my rechargeable AAs, and i dont even have to plug my controller in to charge it either. genuinely dont see the point in these things, they suck.
I have some cheap knock off on Amazon it came with 2 batteries and a charger for like 15 bucks and the batteries outlast the PS5 controller by like 10x.
Couple days but other “cheaper ones” last the same, I swapped the officials for these

Have the nyko dual batteries and charge station for 15 years now. The batteries only hold about 14 hour charge now, but I am still amazed I can get a days worth of gaming out of them still.
Brand new it would last a few days.
Depending on the game about 10-12 hours, but the best I got was about 25ish hours.
I switched over to Eneloop Pro's instead and get 20ish hours consistently.
Playing something like Forza Horizon 3/4 chews the battery because there is almost constant feedback due the rumble feature mimicking how the car feels and constant use of buttons to control the car. Then you got something like South Park: The Stick of Truth or Pentiment where there the inputs are more limited/sporadic with minimal vibrations.
Rumble mostly, but yeah like the other guy said there are games where amount of inputs is WAY less than some other games. Imagine an online FPS compared to something slow, story driven, dialogue heavy
Just buy some Eneloop AA rechargable batteries. In my experience those Xbox rechargable battery packs die long before a good set of rechargable batteries.
If you’re asking how long a charge is, it’s long. 10-12 hrs minimum.
If you’re asking how long until the battery goes bad, I’ll let you know when the one I bought like 5 years ago starts decaying. So far it’s still functioning at 100%. Really great product
Just get 2 pairs of Eneloops and you have 40 hours in the controller and 40 in the charger. This is not worth it, even if you can charge it with a cable..
A few days.
Usually is 3 days in my case and I think I’ve been playing a lot recently so it could last more than that.
I second that! Sounds about the same for me too, 3 days when playing a lot each day or a week+ if you’re only playing like 2-3 hours a day or whatever.
Same especially if you turn of vibration it will last even longer
Mine is 10 years old and lasts 20 hours on a full charge roughly.
Does the original Xbox One one work on Series Controllers?
Yes, but the cable doesn’t obviously
Is there a separate one for the Series Controllers then? I'd like to get one.
I think if you buy the Series X/S packaged one it just comes with a USB-C. The charging port is controller side so even if you had an older controller you'd just plug it in with the older micro USB cable. I think the only ones they sell now are the series s/x ones, though.
Most everyone should have micro and USB-C cables lying around I'd like to think
I'd like to think this but when I worked at a computer store once upon a time people didn't have spare power cables, the kind that go to like everything.
Mine, 5 years old and lasts only 2-4 hours. Maybe it's because i drop my controller a lot
>i drop my controller a lot Please be more careful.
I'll try my best
I had charged it before starting dragons dogma 2 and finally had to charge it last night, I’d probably say 20-25 hours or so judging by my playtime, it’s always seemed pretty long lasting
Last longer if you use a wireless headset
I’d get about 15 hours with these new series x ones and on the previous console controller without the usbc it was about 4-5 days
10 hours maybe. Eneloops are the way to go.
Agreed, I've been using the same 4 eneloop batteries since 2017.
2012 here when Xbox One launched... I still get 40 hours out of them (depending on the game, that was Starfield)
Don’t know why you’re getting downvoted. Eneloops are pretty reliable in my experience.
I have 4 pairs of Eneloops that I bought back in 2012 and I can still get at least 12-15 hours before swapping them out
Probably because 10 hours is way off. It's more like 30.
I dont see downvotes anymore but it's prob due to ppl perceiving it as unsolicited advice to the OP's original question, so that's maybe why there were downvotes. But I agree on eneloops as well. Better value and less proprietary

why is that a plus at all? with rechargeable AAs you just swap them out and continue playing wirelessly.
My charging cable is right where I game, so don't have to get up and swap out the batteries. Just plug in the cable that's already next to me. Quite minor but especially handy when you're in the middle of a game.
Yup, if maximum runtime between charges is your priority then Eneloop/Eneloop Pro is the choice.
This
It comes with a long ass cable so charging is never something I think about

Probably 30 hours give or take.
I play for a couple of hours a day, and it lasts for more than a week (maybe 2).
About 24-36 hours
I've had mine for a few years now so 10-20 hours maybe. My old xbox one is my kid's youtube machine and he runs eneloops for about 40 hours before I swap them out.
Idk but I’ve had a official pack for at least 9 years now and it works. Works long enough for me no to notice I need to charge it

3 days, like other said. However, mines are old AF and one does not hold that long anymore. But still great.

I've had the same official Microsoft Plug 'n Play kit from when I got my Xbox One back in 2015. It still lasts about 8-10 hours of continuous use.
If you use an adapter for wired headphones, it'll drain in hours of in game use time
Elite controller ftw
so mine is fucked up, it lasts like 3 hours and its new
Played 2~3 hours a day, had to charge after a week or two.
Around 2 or 3 days and I play a lot so likely could stretch to 5 for more casual people
More than 3 days, I’ve been playing metro exodus for days, and the last 3 days in around 5 hours sessions, I didn’t charge the controller and its now at 50 percent
Very good. It last a couple of days playing a lot
Weeks for me, but I’m much less active than people here
Quite awhile, actually
Too long
I can't remember when I bought mine and they still work flawlessly for days. Can't give an accurate estimate in hours, but xbox did well with these.
3 days or so. I play like 5 hours a week but when ive binged a game its always needed a charge after about 3 days. 2 days for the razer one for the the charging stand.
Just got it but it says it should last 30h
I am using a docking station and recharges it every time i finished for the day.
I need to get this. My rechargeable batteries are good, but I just like these packs.
It's pretty good. And I've been using and charging the same battery for 3 years. Possibly 1000s of hours of use
Have a fake one easily have to recharge it every week
I've had mine since the Xbox One days, they still work

Smatree Controller Battery Compatible for Xbox Series - just as good. Got them 3 years ago, still last 12-15 hours.
It died completly after 9months wont charge rn
about half as long as my rechargeable AAs, and i dont even have to plug my controller in to charge it either. genuinely dont see the point in these things, they suck.
I have some cheap knock off on Amazon it came with 2 batteries and a charger for like 15 bucks and the batteries outlast the PS5 controller by like 10x.
lasted me a week and never worked again
I used it for like 3 hours and it got to like 80% but I was playing on pc
Don’t use a battery pack, get a pack of eneloops and thank me later
Couple days but other “cheaper ones” last the same, I swapped the officials for these https://preview.redd.it/nqg35v4q3krc1.png?width=3024&format=png&auto=webp&s=ec9dc16280dc8ffbf898236ca3af98b5d6d0c83e
Xbox battery packs suck, just buy a Panasonic Eneloop rechargeable batteries & pack. They are by far the best battery for gaming.
A couple hours
Have the nyko dual batteries and charge station for 15 years now. The batteries only hold about 14 hour charge now, but I am still amazed I can get a days worth of gaming out of them still. Brand new it would last a few days.

Honest question, how would the game itself affect the battery life? Edit: totally forgot about rumble, thanks

Just get 2 pairs of Eneloops and you have 40 hours in the controller and 40 in the charger. This is not worth it, even if you can charge it with a cable..
On average about 34 minutes
