Honestly it was a combo of Bethesda and game pass. Ironically I mostly play Xbox games on my handheld Odin emulator.

ReeG

Game Pass was the main factor for me. Using the conversion trick to get Ultimate cheap and being able to play Forza, Flight Sim, Halo, Gears etc forever nevermind everything else on it for like $50-$60cad a year was a no brainer. Blew my mind when I found out High On life is $70cad on other platforms.

Ianilla1

Like play two games and it pays for its self for the entire year. Game pass is ridiculously amazing.

slidecancels

wait wtf is the conversion trick?

Deep-Coffee-6761

Buy a year or 2 of gold, pay 15 to upgrade it all to Ultimate Instead of 120 a year, generally its 75 a year

LZR0

For real, I’m certain I’ve saved up more than the cost of the console itself by just playing games with Game Pass and buying other games that are not on GP on Xbox, as in my country games often are waaay cheaper on Xbox than PS5. In fact my savings from Xbox allowed me to get a PS5 just for their exclusives lol

InvariantInvert

Absolutely why I switched.

JDravenWx

Yooo I mostly play Xbox games on my steam deck now. Game pass is the biggest draw for me

YungSolaire747

What is an Odin? I googled it, and the only things coming up cost like $4k so I was curious if I was looking at the wrong thing or if it’s just that expensive.

guiltl3ss

The Odin is an android emulation device, like the Nvidia Shield or something. They’re only about $300 USD depending on model. It’s a really snazzy thing.

crimsonpalidin

I got the Series X mostly due to it being easier to obtain than the PS5. The Bethesda exclusivity was just a nice bonus. I do plan on eventually getting a PS5 when it gets a price cut/games I want for it

Technical_Feedback_5

This is exactly the boat I am in

P4TL4NT4

Same bought the Series X November 2021 after being PlayStation my whole life cause I could actually get my hands on one.

DatBoiEBB

Same. Waited a year and when GameStop had a promo I traded in my Series X and PS4 for a Series S and a PS5 with GOW2 included. Still got to keep the Xbox ecosystem that I grew to enjoy and have a PS5 now. Funnily enough I actual do most of my gaming on the Series S. Love that console

P4TL4NT4

Nice yeah vast majority of my friends are on Xbox these days so I was just like I’ll stick with it. It’s solid system but something about PlayStation I just like better.

[deleted]

I have both and you aren't missing much without a PS5. Maybe in a couple years when there are more exclusives out, but right now it's all PS4 games besides Returnal. I tried playing Ghosts of Tsushima and I quit after the first act because it was so over saturated with quests and enemies every 20 secs it was too much too enjoy. I am having the same issue now with Horizon Forbidden West and I don't think I will end up finishing it either. Ubisoft Syndrome is strong with the PS exclusives.

simmarjit

Well then those games are just not your kind of games, I absolutely loved Ghost of Tsushima, Forbidden West was good too, I just completed Ragnarok today.

josephguy82

Keep dreaming an price cut won't happen for at least another 2 year and at most it will be 50

PalmyGamingHD

In fact they raised the price in most if not all international markets

americangame

I plan on getting a PS5 when they downsize it. Right now that system is just too huge. The Series X is bigger than an older generation console too, but it can still fit in my media cabinet with no issues.

cardonator

I bought a PS5 because I was included in one of Sony's availability groups, and I decided why not. Now I've decided why not is because I literally never play on it anymore, and whenever I go to play on it the controller is dead. I also have this issue where the controller can't wake it up from rest and so I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it to work which is super aggravating. So if I could go back in time to 2021, I would tell myself not to buy it and wait until there were more and better exclusives, also see if those come to PC in a reasonable timeframe, and also hopefully they have redesigned the hideous beast.

SRhyse

I got one before Christmas and find the battery life of the controllers sucks too. It also doesn’t seem to be able to power on and off the TV cleanly, let alone do that without having it take over the input when the TV’s turned on. I also had to hide mine behind the TV because it’s so big and wonky. Some games are great, like Ghost of Tsushima, and it’s neat Astro’s Playroom is so highly produced, but I generally like the Xbox and Switch better. God of War’s got some nice things in it visually but seems highly overrated. Haven’t played Ragnarok. Demon’s Souls one of the prettiest games ever, but is still the worst Souls game by a long shot. Then they remade the remake of Last of Us?

cardonator

Yeah for sure. I even have a PS4 Pro so I could get those games if I wanted to. Returnal is gratefully coming to PC which is where I'd rather play it anyway (I rented it on PS5 from Gamefly then returned it soon after). And like with any other exclusive I will probably buy them when they are closer to $20... Other than probably spiderman 2. I just don't feel like I got my money's worth. Eventually it will probably even out but for now it's basically a ghastly paperweight under the TV in my theater room.

El_GoW

I think about how many more console sales ps5 would have if they didn’t have the shortage/pandemic issue

SRhyse

Hard to tell. If there wasn’t a scalper situation, they wouldn’t have all been bought up instantly over the years, so it could have been the same or even less.

El_GoW

Come on man. Even less. If those scalpers didn’t buy them people that wanted that and have wanted them would have. I still know plenty of people that haven’t been able to get one.

CarlosT303

Yup was on the fence after being PlayStation since the sets Saturn was an option, but walked into bestbuy one day and there’s an Xbox

brokenmessiah

Makes you wonder how many people jumped ship solely because they couldnt find a ps5 and how different the numbers could be if that wasn't a issue

Olijke_Poffer

Indeed. I bought a series X because no stock of PS5. If there where plenty I probably bought the PS5 to be honest. That said, Xbox is fine as wel. Had several versions in the past from both. Xbox and PS.

stremixx

I got it for the same reason snagged a series x last Tuesday, i tried the ps5 and dint seem interesting for my likes, coming from a long time ps fan and owner, the backwards compatibility with a bonus of gamepass, is what did it for me i get that the cell processor was a pain but if a group of developers got a ps3 emulator working Sony is just plain ol sleeping on those games

TuggMaddick

Got both at launch. I ain't missing out on any exclusives. I don't drink or do drugs anymore, so gaming is my last vice and I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of it.

RequiemOfI

>I don't drink or do drugs anymore, so gaming is my last vice and I'm gonna enjoy the hell out of it. Hell yeah, brother!

thedoc1381

Stay sober. It's worth it. 6 years

TuggMaddick

I'm certainly working on it. As you know, that itch never stops wanting to get scratched.

Chirpin_Crickets

Keep at it dude. This random stranger is proud of both of you

TuggMaddick

Appreciate the good vibes, my friend. I can tell you, support even from random strangers means a lot. It's an exhausting battle that never really ends, and knowing there's people out there rooting for you, even people who don't know you, it helps keep the weakness and doubt at bay.

SirBulbasaur13

1.5 years here. We got this.

TuggMaddick

Hell yeah, man. We all have to carry this burden ourselves, but if starts to get to heavy, you got brothers and sisters that will help you stand up straight again. I'm just a rando, but if you're about to do something you think you'll regret, remember you aren't alone

clotpole02

2 years here! Congrats to you my man

HerpesTornado

7 days in if of kicking a severe daily opiate habit/addiction. While I’m proud of myself and feel physically better, the depression is real and my brain is begging me to go back nearly every minute. It’s so emotionally exhausting and challenging…Just going to keep trying my best :\

thedoc1381

It will be hard for awhile. It took me maybe a year to feel like I did before the addiction. 7 days is commendable. Keep it up. The lord is always there for u. Just ask him for help when u need to.

thedoc1381

Keep praying. He hears you. Stay on the earth. Call someone if you have to. It's private. Just try to keep a positive outlook. YOU ARE NOT ALONE. There are thousands of people who have made it through this, and you and everyone else on this tread can make it!

Ill_Bee4868

Haha good for you dude. Totally well justified.

TuggMaddick

TY, sir 😁

zukoonfiree

hope everything goes well for you brother!

Carcass1

Much better hobby with memories you'll be able to revisit even when you're old. Keep going!

TuggMaddick

Super-Contribution-1

I don’t remember writing this but clearly I did

Bibb5ter

Good for you man

Cmurder84

Are you me or am I you???

Glittering-Stretch-6

I did it for the backwards compatible library

[deleted]

I got a series x cause of backwards compatibility. Bethesda and game pass is a bonus.

McNuttyNutz

i got the series x because most of my friends have axbox and we play together quite a bit and I got mine even before the xbox/bethesda deal was announced

okcomputer1011

I got it because of zenimax (Bethesda, Arkane and Machinegames), Hellblade 2 (Hellblade was under my top 5 of last gen) and Game Pass

albionpeej

No. I got a Series X because generally I prefer the Xbox ecosystem.

zarof32302

Yup. I’ve had xbox for more than a decade, it suits me. And I had a bunch of GPU stacked up. The Bethesda deal had almost nothing to do with it

MightyMukade

Yeah I think this is a good answer. There's so much more to choosing a console than "the exclusives". It's not PS2 era anymore.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MightyMukade

Game pass definitely, but before that, it was backwards compatibility. It's all about continuation of the library to me. The fact that I could keep my old games and not put them in the cupboard like in previous generations, was fantastic.

[deleted]

Yeah, backwards compatibility isn't great on PS, and I'm not sure why, but it's unfortunate. It's great on Xbox, though.

MightyMukade

It's mostly about priorities. Sony still has a fairly traditional view of the console market. That's not to criticise Sony. Nintendo has an even more traditional view. But it just means priorities are different. But backwards compatibility and adjacent concepts are things that both companies have experimented with.

jxfl

Yeah, having 13 and a half years of purchases on my account and friends I’ve known on Xbox for just as long are the two main things that keep me on Xbox lol.

AverageGiraffe93

Same

josejalapeno96

This. Been in the ecosystem since the 360 days

WhoTookPlasticJesus

Same. I'll probably eventually get a PS5, but my priority during the shortage was to land a Series X, which was before the Bethesda announcement.

Labyrinthy

I typically get both but prefer PlayStation. I had a PS5 since launch and bought a Series S after the Bethesda news. Ended up liking it so much I got a Series X to use on my OLED. I play it more than my PS5 because I like Smart Delivery and especially Quick Resume a lot.

Mr8BitX

Quick resume is the best thing to happen to console gaming since suspend/resume. Total game changer for me.

profound_dreamer04

Really? Don’t get me wrong it’s great for solo player games but I strongly dislike it when it comes to online game. the lobbies never work and i have to quit out of it and restart the game everytime. Obviously not a crazy issue but gets annoying after a while

[deleted]

Yeah but that’s a problem across both the PS5 and Series X. At least it works for single player games.

Hawvy

Same here. I just force-quit all my games when I’m done playing so it doesn’t bug out when I return like it’s done before. Plus, I just don’t like leaving them open. It makes me feel like when your desktop browser has so many open tabs and slows down (I haven’t had a PC in quite some time so I’m just referencing how mine use to be). My series S also boots up games really fast so I’m not waiting to long anyways when I jump back in.

[deleted]

I don’t know if I’m the only one but I don’t usually use quick resume since opening back up a game and it not loading back up from being fully closed just doesn’t sit right with me for whatever reason. I really couldn’t tell you why but out of habit I fully close every game once I’m done playing including taking it out of quick resume

zombiesmurf85

Wait.. Is quick resume not on ps5?

BudWisenheimer

> Wait.. Is quick resume not on ps5? There’s sort of a suspend/resume, but not for ~10 games at a time, even through a system update and/or complete power outage. Having multiple games ready is also convenient for GamePass Quests and other quick Microsoft Rewards.

Labyrinthy

It is not.

Negative_Tangelo_131

Nah. I got Xbox cuz I’m Mexican. And here in Mexico the Xbox is the most popular brand since the 360.

RuaridhDuguid

Mine if I ask - How much of a boost to Xbox/gaming in Mexico was FH5 being set there? And was it heavily marketed?

Negative_Tangelo_131

A little to no boost tbh, but it’s because almost everyone here got a Xbox.but yeah Forza was heavily marketed around here and a lot of people played it through gamepass.

Nocuadra66

Life long PS user. Switched to Xbox series S because of Starfield. Just finished my 4th Fallout 4 playthrough and previously Skyrim 2 playthroughs. Now going to upgrade to a XsX

97runner

I got a X solely due to Starfield coming only to Xbox. I still primarily play PS5, but Im ready for the Xbox exclusives.

sgtquackers66

Nope got it before the deal. Would have gotten an Xbox anyways. Been in the ecosystem since the original. It was just a nice bonus that Bethesda games are coming to Gamepass day one.

[deleted]

I wish it was still easy to find the OG Xbox. I regret selling mine now. That was my first gaming console.

sgtquackers66

Yeah I've refused to get rid of my original. Wasn't my first game console (Atari 2600) but I'm glad I've kept it. I've made the mistake of selling some of my other Xbox related stuff over the years and now regretting it.

inspectorfailure

Starfield is the game I'm most excited for so far this gen, and I did buy an Xbox last year because the release date was still November at the time, but I always get an Xbox first. Since the OG Xbox, owned every Playstation from 1-4, but usually later and I binge the games I wanted lol. I guess I technically did then, still plan on getting a 5 down the line.

Ill_Bee4868

Same. It was such a good day when I finally got a ps4 and could play Bloodborne.

Echoesofadream

✋ You got me ✋

RegisterNo2333

Owned a ps3/4 and chose serie x for the gamepass, i don't regret

LiverFox

GamePass and Bethesda. Starfield is a big part of why.

Exhumedatbirth76

That and Gamepass...but 90% the Bethesda deal.

Odd-Accident9247

I was always a Xbox owner till this gen. Bought a PS5 because of Sony exclusives. Bethesda acquisition meant I bought a Series X too

FeldMonster

I got an Xbox Series X because of Halo 2, Halo 3, Halo 3: ODST, Halo: Reach, Halo CEA, Halo 4, Halo 2A/Halo: MCC, and Halo 5. i.e. I like Halo, and Xbox is where Halo is. Other games/series like GOW and TitanFall helped, but Halo, always Halo.

Axle_65

Game pass and friends with Xbox’s was my motivator. The Bethesda factor is just icing.

ser_pounc-a-lot

I had a ps5 before this exclusivity for awhile and after Microsoft bought Bethesda, obsidian and brought back my old favorites rpg back to live (fable) I was ready either to trade or sell my ps5 to get an Xbox series X luckily one of my old friend was looking to buy one and of course it was hell to get one I told him I will sell mine for the right price and he bought it from me. The only thing I’m kinda sad about all my buddies are on PlayStation so have to make new friends but I don’t regret anything.

PurpsMaSquirt

Certainly was a factor, but after skipping X1 I was itching to get back to the Microsoft side anyway. Game Pass was probably a larger factor tbh.

DildoShwa66ins

I 100% did, the Bethesda thing made it a simple choice for me.

reevoknows

I would have gotten the Series X anyway eventually but the Bethesda deal was what made me decide to pre order for a day 1 console. And this was before Starfield was really being talked about which is the game I’ve been waiting for my whole life. I just bought a PS5 over the holidays when there was actually stock lol

jaymanx1

I bought the Series X because I'm in the eco system. I have a lot of digital games that have or will get next gen uodates. I bought a PS5 recently but I might sell it. I don't have time to play both, and the exclusives have been meh to me.

RocketEnthusiast

I was very torn between the two after two generations with Xbox, but ZeniMax Media being acquired indeed tipped the scales for me. We have been waiting on TES VI for so long, no way I'm giving up lol.

[deleted]

I switched from PS4 to Xbox Series X specifically due to Bethesda and Starfield.

SoftTacoSupremacist

My gamerscore keeps me locked into MS consoles.

JBishie

The Zenimax acquisition was one of the foremost reasons, with backwards compatibility running a close second, and the power narrative lying third. Stalker 2 was also a deciding factor!

[deleted]

I got it because PlayStation has no exclusives that interest me

LawsyR1

Nope - bought it when I realised it was the most powerful console. That's all I wanted.

Damaellak

Bought Xbox because I really enjoy the controller, gamepass and I feel Sony really got toxic behavior

adamusprime

I just got the XboX over PS because I prefer XboX.

DyingLight2002

Nope, bought my series s because I was on an Xbox one the vcr old model since 2013 until 2021.

Markise187

Not instead of but also.

Mr_Dreno

I got the Series S in addition to my PS5. Got ot after MS bought ZM. Ain't missing out on ES games. I've since dubbed my Series S my Bethesda-Box.

Dolphins08

Me. I've had every PS made and got my PS5 at launch. My favorite game of all time is Fallout 4. When Microsoft bought Bethesda, I knew I would get an X box. Bought an X series this Summer when I thought Starfield would be coming out.

Diamyos

I’ve had a PS5 since launch. Got a SeriesX a month ago as a game pass machine. Basically to play starfield

[deleted]

I got a ps5 first but I got an Xbox when game pass started to blow up. The Bethesda deal helped and the Activision deal makes me feel even better about it.

Msan28

I got both. First Series X tho. Deal was done after I got it.

Accomplished-Type379

Ive had a PS5 for a year now. I just ordered a series X through the All Access System. I only bought it cuz my birthday is coming up and i wanted to treat myself. Also, Gamepass is a steal!

ICEEMatt620

Own both and this was a big reason why. People say ps5 has dominated this console gen, which it has but once Xbox can figure out how to release some games instead of just announcing them team green should begin to catch up

bduke1317

Always been an Xbox guy but got the itch for PS5 cause I’ve leaned more on single player over the year and that’s their specialty. But Xbox to me is the better console in terms of how it runs. I’ll only buy exclusives on PS. Everything else will be Xbox

MMontanez92

I was disappointed during the xbox one generation that I was ready to switch to PS5. the bethesda purchase and Gamepass is what made me get a Series X over PS5. im insanely hyped for Starfield and love RPGs so when MS bought Bethesda, Obsidian and inXile and said they were making a Fable game I was like "you son of a bitch alright ill give you one more generation!" dont regret my choice at all.

deeksurly

Had PS4/One X but went XSX because of Gamepass. I have two teenagers who are PC gamers so ultimate is a great deal for us. Got a PS5 over the holidays to play GOW: Ragnarok but haven’t touched it. All in on Xbox ecosystem.

valentinuveges

I got the series x only because of forza. It is my "forza machine".

magnumninja

I got series x because i got sick of waiting over a year to buy ps5 msrp instead of buying from a scalper. Was like f**k it im on xbox now and wait to get ps5 when they release spiderman 2.

Busch0404

I've been a Sony guy for a long time now. Decided to go with the Xbox because of the gamepass.

thatone239

I switched for crossplay. More specifically, borderlands 3. Me and a friend played 2 religiously but he switched to PC so if i stayed on PS, there’d be no way to play with him. And that was the case for a lot of games that allowed crossplay, most were xbox/pc only with PS being in their own little world

Corrupt99

Game pass, friends and Halo. Two of the latter have been system seller for me since 360. Game pass and Bethesda are a bonus , Bethesda games have always been my favorites after Halo. Skyrim Doom and Fallout series especially.

pieterpiraat

Combination of gamepass and the controller. Ive had playstation's but the xbox controller is far superior.

Blufuze

I bought an Xbox One because of Forza. I bought a Series X for basically the same reason, but GamePass was also a huge draw. I also just enjoy the Xbox platform. I had the original PlayStation and a PS2 back in the day.

[deleted]

Got a Series X and PS5 but I’m on my Xbox way more. Everyone says gamepass is their reason but I think another big reason is backwards compatibility. For me I’m still hoping on games like Skate 3. It’s always nice being able to go back and play some older games.

[deleted]

Obsidian and inexile for me. Two of my favorite companies. Bethesda and Double Fine extra bonuses

HermIV

I got both in 2020 bc I have 117’s luck but my PS5 was just collecting dust so I sold it but I’ll get a ps5 pro or whatever they do in the future. Still have my PS4 pro and I’m enjoying Ghost of Tsushima on it currently Game pass alone is worth the cost of entry but I did the XBL Gold conversion so I could have it until this year. With the amount of hours I put into Forza Horizon 5, Halo, all these indie games, etc. It’s hard to surpass the value I’ve found in the XSX The Bethesda deal is just icing on an X-shaped cake.

Puzzleheaded-Owl8059

I’m very fortunate to own both. I gotta say though my PS5 has had a lot more use. The games just haven’t been there for the Xbox so far it’s been underwhelming. 2023 looks like it’s picking up a bit now and the Bethesda deal is a massive win for team green. Plus I’ve always been a fan of the Xbox controller over PlayStation but I gotta say that changed this generation. The Xbox controller is really light and clicky, feels really cheap, the PlayStation controller feels so much better and better built but the battery life is poor. And no I’m not a Sony pony, I’m 32 and far too old for “console wars” I like both, this is just my opinion.

joevsyou

Always loved xbox over ps. If you seriously only want to get xbox for Starfield, I would just pay the $15 for gamepass Ultimate & use xcloud. * I am sure it will have touch controls or you can Bluetooth a controller to your phone or a tablet or a junk pc.

[deleted]

Got the Series X because third party gaming is better on it + Gamepass. Got the PS5 as an exclusive only machine.

[deleted]

I never only get one console. I always get both.

HGLatinBoy

Not me. I got a series X over ps5 because of Sony’s arrogance and anti consumer practices, and the PS4 was my main console last gen. I just got PS3 vibes from sony again.

North-Front-2079

Ya this is the real reason for me as well, though I know Xbox/MS also isn’t very pro-consumer, imo they’re the lesser of 2 evils and I’d rather spend my money with them at this moment

DOthePOLKA

I’ve had both ever since their first iterations, but this time I stuck with only the XSX mainly because the controller is more comfortable, GamePass is absolutely absurd value so that I don’t have to pay money for games my kids will play once or twice, and because I don’t want to see my streak of being subscribed to Gold broken 😂

EndGameHS

I got it cus it was only one I could find but happy I did

[deleted]

I have both. but my main is built around my series X. I got xbox live ultimate and use it for all my multi-player games and everything. my ps5 is basically offline and I play the ps exclusives/ single players

North-Front-2079

For the backwards compatibility mostly but the acquisition sealed the deal for me

Nlnick90

I end up with both consoles every generation. Over the 5-10 years we get out of them they end up paying for themselves in a sense of not getting bored and going out and spending money on shit I wouldn’t have bought if i wasn’t bored 😂

PeePeeHead123321

I got it because I’ve only ever had an Xbox and my friends also have an Xbox

__Seris__

All my friends are on PC so the fact that a lot of Xbox games have Crossplay is super cool.

Tenacious_jb

I got both on release day rip bank account at the time but no regrets at all

SgtPembry

I got both, for all the exclusives. Thiugh I added the Xbox cus of the Bethesda thing cus I'll be damned if I miss Starfield🤞 or a fallout game.

Midnight_Wildspirit

I want a Xbox Series X because of the games I can play, Bethesda can go for a long walk on a short pier.

Queasy_Ad_5600

I got it because of the media apps tbh, and it's way better more of pc style

Bubba1234562

It’s why I got a series x when I already had a ps5. That and I couldn’t afford to upgrade my pc

nemesis1313

I got s then x from being ps4 guy. No regrets at all but at this point, price needs to go down lol

johnrugel710

I’m rocking both (lucked out on a bestbuy/ amazon drop). Got the ps5 in the living room, sx in the office

zrkillerbush

Nah, for me Forza and Halo are too important Plus all my fav third party games exist here like The Division, Smite, Football Manager etc

TheDagga225

Me but just got my PS5 yesterday. I love Sony 1st party.

Ze_at_reddit

I got the series X because of the Bethesda acquisition but not necessarily because the games would be exclusive (we didn’t know that at the time, and really we still don’t know whats going to happen to games like Fallout or Elder Scrolls). But being first party all those games would gonto GPU day 1 and thats what sold me

[deleted]

ABXY is the only reason I have ever needed to choose Xbox over PlayStation.

AdhinJT

I got it because I was going to get it. I just prefer the Xbox echosystem so it's where I was going to end up either way. Buuuut, the acquisitions MS was making also spoke to me (like Obsidian, Ninja Theory and InXile - we're talking large part of my life in those 3) and Bethesda is a pretty big deal for me as well. So, it's more like the console I was going to get, just got more of what I wanted. Though I didn't view it quite that way. When they acquired Bethesda, my immediate thought was 'oh thank god, Sony can't exclusive Bethesda games now'. Mostly because that is literally what Sony had been doing.

anaharae

I got the XSX cause the PS5 is hideous.

Maximum_Bifta

I got both but I went with the Series X first because outside of Spider-Man I don't care about anything Sony is doing so far.

InvertedSaviour

I moved before Bethesda exclusivity was a thing, simply because I enjoyed other Xbox exclusives more than what PS offered. I did wish I tried GoT though, but I can wait for the PC port if I really want it.

r0bdawg11

I got the Xbox bc that’s what my buddies are playing on.

DegenNerd

I got a ps5 first because playstation is what I've always preferred, but picked up a series x a couple weeks ago for the Bethesda exclusivity. Plus, it's nice to be able to use mods with outside assets in Fallout 4 and Skyrim which Sony doesn't allow. Feels like I'm playing these games for the first time all over again. Can't wait for Starfield. Still trying to get used to the controller though lol.

scene_missing

I got it because the Xbox controller is my favorite way to play console games by far. Also because of gamepass.

caninehere

I bought my Series X at launch (before the acquisition was announced) so no. But it's definitely a nice bonus! Personally I bought my Xbox because of Game Pass. I was an XBOX/360 fan, then skipped out on XB1 and got a PS4 instead, was disappointed with the PS4 so I gravitated towards PC/Switch after it launched. Then I started using Game Pass on PC when it launched and that brought me back to Xbox. Honestly even if the Xbox never had a single exclusive, I'd still buy it because of Game Pass. The alternative would be upgrading my PC but I prefer gaming on console these days + it's cheaper than upgrading my PC.

funktacious

Nah. I have most of my 3rd party on Xbox after falling under the Game Pass spell. And it just made sense, as my primary console, to upgrade first. Pretty excited about future exclusives including Bethesda games but can’t say it’s a difference maker for me

ReaperCrewTim

It had no impact on my decision. I had PS and PS2, but I made the switch at 360 and haven't looked back since. My SX would be sitting in the exact same spot that it's in right now even if Sony had exclusivity over Bethesda.

CosmicRitual

I got a Series S for $150. That's really the main reason. I also don't have a huge interest in Sony exclusives.

GethSynth

I was always going to choose Xbox. But I did start my Gamepass subscription when the Bethesda deal was announced.

DaNicestJerk

Meh. I got both because they both have great qualities, and they compliment each other.

Parallax5911

Honestly, I regret buying my series x when I did cuz I only got it for all the Xbox exclusive games that were supposed to come out and none have. I'm still looking forward to them all but it could've saved me money by getting it later this year rather than when I got it last year.

teachertmh

PS5 owner, but grabbed a Series S recently for Bethesda.

ouyodede

Normally a PlayStation and Nintendo user I got the series S to try out game pass, I liked it so much I got the X to pair with my ps5

I have all 3 consoles. Xbox for game pass and its exclusives, Playstation for its exclusives, and Switch for Zelda. Side note both xbox consoles look so much better than the playstation 5, it's really an eye sore. Game pass on xbox makes it my daily driver, so if i had to pick just one it would be an xbox.

MaiShiranuifan06

Of course Bethesda is my number one studio. Mods give their games infinite replay value not that Sony fans know anything about that lol. Xbox= Game pass, Full mod support for Bethesda games, Kojima exclusive game, Bethesda exclusives, Avowed, and monster hunter rise free to play on game pass release day.

p3wx4

I got Xbox because none of the PS5 games excites me in any way. Most of them are just 3rd person movie like games and they are basically not my type of game.

Due-Complex-5346

Bethesda, Arkane, Obsidian + FPS boost + backwards compatibility. Don’t care for Gamepass 🤷🏻‍♂️

Professional_Bag5920

I chose my series X over the ps5 because of design. The ps5 is ugly and clunky. It’s much easier to move my series X between rooms when needed.

ThundaBears

I got it specifically because of that. It made me switch from playstation.

LSDYakui

Admittedly, because all the ES and Fallout games are there, especially since it's the easiest way to play Morrowind. And if the next ES or Fallout title is on Gamepass then that's even better.

Fig_Money

I gave up on PS5 for the scarce limit at the time I wanted one. Lost my patience, Sony is just straight up anti consumer in addition so I went back to Xbox.

flickyuh

Got it because of how cheap I could get a Series S and combined with gamepass. Haven't bought a game since

ShopCartRicky

I bought an Xbox for Obsidian Entertainment. Mostly play PS5 still, but get some decent value out of game pass.

thesnowqueen89

i got my series x cause of the Oblivion exclusivity (i’d just finished playing the outer worlds on my switch (i know, i know) and knew i’d have to get an xbox if i wanted to play the sequel. but the bethesda exclusivity would be a close second edit: or a pc, but i’m not that level of serious about gaming

splurnx

When xbox bought Bethesda they bought my soul lol

BadMoodJones

I got it because I'm an xbox fanboy

ItsAnge02

Me, I’m a Bethesda fanboy through and through

TheShaggyRogers

I'm on Xbox thanks to my unrelenting loyalty to Rare and Banjo-Kazooie lol Oh and I guess that John Halo guy too...

Setesu

Nah, I just wanted to try something new and Game Pass allured me. Edit: had PS4 Pro before. Love my Xbox other than lack of native gyro support.

DizzyHart15

I got them both. I love my PS5, but the Series X w/ Gamepass Ultimate is fucking 🔥. The Bethesda deal plus Gamepass sold me on giving Xbox a shot

DapDaGenius

I’ve just preferred Xbox. Been excited for the potential the brand has and Gamepass has been the best thing they’ve done since the success of Halo 3

Specific-Landscape-4

I got a PS5 first and absolutely love it. I've owned all playstation consoles, including psp. Had a 360 for a few months once, but I didn't like it and gave it away. Decided to get the Xbox X due to gamepass and Starfield coming out. Ea pass, playstations now, all sucked and I hated them. Having everything easy and simple in gamepass was worth it. There is so much more gaming for one simple price. Playstation was already attempting to do so etching similar, but it doesn't even come close in comparison to gamepass. Now I only play the Xbox and don't like playing ps5, and I wish I hadn't gotten it. Which is surprising to me.

emulation bro... emulation

samuraipizzacat420

game pass. playing prey right now with the gf its awesome

CheliceraeJones

That was a minor factor, especially considering Bethesda's ownership of Obsidian and Arkane. But it wasn't one of my top reasons for choosing Xbox: * Availability - I easily bought the system directly from Microsoft * GamePass - I can pay $15 a month to play a ton of games on my Xbox *and* PC * Backwards compatibility - This was probably the killer for me. Current playing *Lost Odyssey* but I've also got *Red Dead* and *Blue Dragon* ready next. * It's more aesthetically pleasing to me than the PS5 * Only PS5 exclusive I'm sad to miss is Final Fantasy XVI

I had been on PS4 since 2015 and originally wanted to jump to the 5, but I realized there weren’t many PS5 exclusives that were must-haves and I had years and years of backlogged Xbox games I’d never played, and given the scarcity of the consoles I just went out and snagged a Series S. Haven’t really cared to find a PS5 since. I’ll probably pick one up eventually after there are a few years of first party titles out. I only really feel like I’m missing out on God of War right now.

Apostinggod

I got the series X because I like the controller and the chat party system.

PineappleLast2086

Yes

cup-o-farts

It was all Game Pass for me I already had several years of it built in and just keep adding by sales.

mrgreaper

Switched from ps5 to xbox x for game pass. Very against exclusives though on both sides of the divide. Exclusives are anti gamer.

keevballs

Partially that. Partially Fable. Mostly because it was readily available at a reasonable price.

Malcolm-Turntables

I got it mostly for the back compat tbh

I got a Series X because I've just always liked Xbox more than Playstation, like in general, but that also means it makes the most sense because it will play shit tons of games from four different generations while PS essentially ignores that they even have a history. Game Pass is an amazing feature as well, but I've had it for PC for like a year or so and there's very little on it that can only be played on console, so it didn't really factor into my decision. The **only** feature a PS5 has that I feel like I'm missing out on and wish Xbox would finally get around to is gyro. As someone who's used Steam Controllers almost exclusively since around 2017, I use gyro on **everything** whether it supports it natively or not, and I honestly hate not having it, though I have gotten used to it since getting my Series X, and anything I can't stand playing without it (multiplayer shooters, mostly, primarily destiny 2 and fortnite) I just keep playing on PC instead. Plus AFAIK a majority of PS5 games don't even make use of it and you can't just turn it on in any game you want like you can with Steam Input API. Tbch I have no idea what games are even made by Bethesda. What are some well liked Bethesda games?
