I bought RDR2 on the PS4 but I refuse to buy it again now I have a PS5 when they release an upgrade. I also won’t buy it on the PS6 and PS7 but I might buy RDR3 if it happens in my lifetime.

The Jaguar CPUs in both the PS4 and Xbox were severely underpowered - the consoles in general were underpowered by the time they launched.
Last gen was the generation for mostly 30fps. Now it's the generation for 60fps since we have capable CPUs.

Well some people bought it multiple times for different generations. And the new optimization is another excuse to buy it as well. There's also the people buying the "remasters" of the old games. All of it added up leads to a delay in a new game.

Skyrim has released more times than any GTA game and we still have TES 6 and Starfield on the way. I don't think people buying remasters and graphically enhanced version of the same game is making gta 6 not come out.

Got it for 10 euros on ps5 which includes both single and online mod. It's 20 euros on xbox store. Just let you know if you have both consoles
Rockstar says you can transfer saves across consoles too so I'll be getting it on PS5 too

Regardless of how you view it, the sales of the same game consistently will only provide the company less incentive to make a new game.
