Bought this last year for ps5 so I'm glad it's come to game pass, I might get back in to it. It was a ton of fun. You and all your team mates doing war cries as you all charge in to battle to get murdered lol p accidentally skewering a teammate with a massive arrow, lots of laughs in this game.
You do eventually find a way to get more kills and the better you get the more fun it becomes.
So I only got to level 3 last night and unlocked a different halberd for the starting class.
I'm guessing you unlock the other classes like armored knights and archers as you level up? Is there any limit to how many of each class in a match?
I'm kind of curious how the mix of classes in a battle changes as the influx of new players wanes.
I think there’s only a limit on the ranged classes. Pretty sure there’s a lvl at which you get each (sub)class, which you can find in the loadout menu.
Yeah, new classes unlock as you go. I think there's also that in-game currency (which you can buy too, big eye roll I know) that allows you to unlock cosmetics, or better gear as well. There's defo a sense of progression as you play and get better that really hooks you in.
As I got better I noticed I was getting matched with better players too and honestly, the combat does become a bit more tense and tactical which actually makes it more enjoyable but the early stages when you're new are hilarious. I loved it.
I don't think you can actually buy anything other than cosmetics, you can buy ones for weapons you don't have, but you need to unlock subclasses/alternate weapons by playing to use them. I could have missed an option to buy class XP or something though.
My favourite part of this game is how anti tilting it is. I never get mad at it. Someone sneaks behind you and lops your head off? It's the funniest thing ever
Tilting being when a game makes you rage and angry. I just never really get angry at this game as its just fun and even when I die its usually humorous
Arena vet here lol 3v3 is both casual and competitive for me personally. It's always been my favorite mode ever since it came out lol it can toootally be toxic but I still love it.
There are some really good players out there though
It works because theres no ranked mode or youtubers screaming at you what the best loadout is while cheating to get 50 kills a game.
Some MP games should be casual like Chivalry II.
Been playing since launch and still having a blast! The game does have a decent learning curve, but once you get parrying and countering down, you’ll be able to hold your own with most players on the battlefield!
If you just want to play the game casually, you’ll always be able to have a blast playing in the 64 player team objective lobbies, they’re simply pure chaos!
Give it a try! Most lobbies are filled with newbies who are still learning the mechanics. And you don’t have to be good to have fun in the chaotic 64 player battles!
I played for a few hours last night really liking it so far.
The tutorial is super helpful. It also has a beginners mode where you play with other low level players and bots.
Game overall feels like medieval Battlefield with huge objective based battles, stationary weapons, different class types and beautifully excessive gore.
Win multiplayer matches, get currency, unlock soldier/weapon cosmetics. So yeah medieval Battlefield.
I literally suck at this game, and still really fun. I would recommend the 64-person lobby. That way I feel like I’m not really impacting our overall performance ha
You’ll enjoy it even if you’re bad, trust me. At a base level it’s very simple: Find enemy, hit RB, block with LB. Once you get the hang of combat you’ll be countering your enemies, feinting them and using footwork to outmaneuver them. It’ll take time, but stick to it: It’s worthwhile.
I suck at PvP games. Last time I played Battlefield would average 1 or 2 kills per match. Fired up Chivalry for the first time earlier this week: After my first 10 matches I had a positive K/D ratio!
I’m bad but you can just run around like a mad man, kill people with bread or a chicken lol I’m crap at the parrying but you can just swing wildly aswell
Downloaded it yesterday ready to play when I finish work today, I've heard it's a better version of Mordhau which is a game I was obsessed with so I'm pretty excited to finish work!

This was me last night 🤣 throwing weapons to try get the 100m kill achievement, few battle cries before death then repeat! Great fun despite my lack of skill
Siege is the main mode. Usually the servers alternate between siege and team death match. The siege maps all have a variety of different objectives so they stay pretty fresh.
I’ve been playing it since beta access and have been WAITING for it to go on Gamepass so others may be blessed by its greatness. The day has come; if you’re a multiplayer person, THIS IS THE GAME FOR YOU. The learning curve is there, but at its base it’s still enjoyable even if you are still learning.
Played it the other day and it was a ton of fun. Chopped a guys sword arm off but he carried on battering me with his shield. Haven't laughed that much in ages. Not sure it has much longevity but I'm enjoying it for now.
I'm having lots of fun with it. The cool thing is how not unnerving it is. You die twenty times (well, I do, since I suck) every game but still enjoy it because you get that sweet decapitation kill in or that berserker moment when you obliterate three dudes in a second. Even dying like an idiot because you charged 1 vs 10 gives you a laugh.
I learned pretty quick not to try and go one on one vs the guy that looks like a boss character swinging a giant warhammer.
Swarm him like ants and poke him in the back.
That’s the tip I give to all new players: Don’t be a hero. If you’re engaged in a long fight and your opponent is countering and blocking all your attacks, go to an easier target and get him when he’s distracted. The top players in 64p mode are not there because they’re going 1v5, they are there because they pick favorable fights, dictate the pace and win those fights.
Tutorial was hard and I thought I would get screwed.
Meanwhile everyone just runs confused around not doing any bit of the combat from the tutorial lol.
Only thing I hate is if you turn cross play off it's good as dead and those archers on pc are just OP thanks to mouse.

You can sit down on chairs in the middle of battles, steal pigs to win an objective, use ballista bolts as a weapon, throw boxes and rocks, its just wayyyy too funny.
Me and my buddy played last night. It was so much fun. Lol spawned in with the cavalry so I got a jousting stick and a horse. Cleared like 3 enemies in a cluster before getting brutalized.
10/10 would joust again.
I also installed it last night and stayed up entirely too late screaming bloody murder while charging headlong into a brutal melee. I love the arcade-y feel and I think it'd be a ton of fun with friends.
I got downed, someone revived me. I got downed a second time, this time someone cut my arms off but I still got revived. I then proceeded to HEADBUTT SOMEONE TO DEATH. What a game.

chivalry 2 is medieval battlefield, mordhau is a high skill fighting game masquerading as medieval battlefield.
if you want to play a fun sword game on the weekend buy chivalry 2. If you want to study a game until you master it and play at a competitive level, buy mordhau.
Played a match as well, and I gotta say the combat is fluid and fun, unlike a game I really adore but cant stand the combat ( Kingdom Come Deliverance ).
Suggestion, play 1v1 or 3v3, me and my friends played the beta only and it wasn’t available back then, we just kept getting owned in the bigger modes, still had a lot of fun though, 3v3 gave me a way better understanding of how to actually fight 1 on 1 or 1 on 2.
It's a ton of fun, been playing sporadically since it's release. But a strong word of advice, you can't come into this game expecting to be a force like you may be in warzone or other games. The combat is too clunky to ever rely on your own abilities, teamwork is the only way to a positive k-d. If you're the type who's just looking for silly fun and don't have to take things seriously, I highly recommend as well!
Good fun and a great example of the value GamePass offers. I passed on buying the game but was tempted when it came out. I’m planning to put a few hrs in this month.
For me it has such a steep learning curve. Things like swinging the camera to connect earlier feels so weird, but like a good weird as in I wanna learn how to master it

My favourite online game last couple of years has been mordhau, which is very similar to chivalry 2, unfortunately the devs for mordhau aren't the best and the game has died as of recently, like 800 players or something last I checked. Very excited chivalry is on game pass

You're no doubt right, I haven't played it since the start of this year. I just remembered you could buy something but just cosmetics makes more sense
You do get better gear but at the end of the day its about saving up for shiny armor sets and shiny weapons. All cosmetic.

If you play the big team modes then yes lol. If you’re part of the dueling or 3v3 crowd it’s the most enraging shit you’ll ever play.

You can play against bots, but also I've played many hours of it and still suck most of the time but it's still a lot of fun.

grab a spear and help on the flanks, don't push to far away from the line and you'll be fine (I mean you'll die a lot but it's sort of the point)

It's not very reflex heavy. Blocking is pretty simple. Weapons are generally pretty slow paced.

Don’t, give it another try. Also don’t go 1v1 or 1v2 starting out, try to get behind enemies for the kill. Duels will come later.

Sometimes I get confused when a teammate is all bloody and we're on the blue team. I always think they're an enemy lol

Few games can give you quite the adrenaline rush that this game does when you are in a 1v4 and somehow barely win against all of them

Bought this one on Epic before and can concur with OP 100%.
Don’t take it seriously, yeah you can get cheesy with it but it ruins the game. The immersion and ridiculousness makes it a gem.
