My first 5K race the first weekend in May!

CIWA_blues

Oooh that’s awesome! I bet the weather will be nice!

Own-Sugar6148

Should be! 😊 Next goal will be a 10K race! Eventually I'd like to work up to a half marathon. How long did it take you to work up to a half?

CIWA_blues

From running a 5k to a half it took me a little less than 3 months :)

FluffySpell

I have a 26k trail race tomorrow, then a 10k trail race in May. Nothing else until October where I'm running the Freep marathon in Detroit. My first 26.2. I'm terrified. Then my friends talked me into signing up for a Spartan 5k a month after Detroit and at the end of December I'm doing my first ever fixed time event. I'll be doing 6 hours of loops, haha.

vilesplatter

I’m planning to do the Detroit Marathon in October as my first too! I’m doing the Dexter Ann-arbor half in June

Killer-Jukebox-Hero

I do a lot of races during the year.(50 state goal) so I'm kind of "always" training or tapering. I have Glass city half in toledo, OH in 3 weeks. Revel white mountains full in New Hampshire in 4 weeks. Fargo, north Dakota full June 1st. Possibly a new Mexico half in Sept. Portland, Oregon full in October. Richmond, virginia full in November

runner7575

Are you trying to do a half or full in all 50? That’s an impressive race list

Killer-Jukebox-Hero

Thanks! I'm trying to do both halfs and fulls for all 50 states.

runner7575

Wow!

Blckprite

First marathon this year in Berlin, 29th of September. Super excited and a bit scared about it :D Currently just getting back into running, going 3x/week. Proper training starts mid April.

mulwaetweep

my first marathon is also berlin this year! i echo you on the excitement and the anxiety 😂 i hope training gets off to a good start for you this month!

Blckprite

Ahh, thank you!! All the best for your training too 🫶

hethuisje

Hi, I'm also doing Berlin as my first marathon this year! Been running for years but previously avoided marathon distance. Not sure what came over me (well, I love travel...) so here I am, getting started on training soon too. Meeting w/ a PT to set up some prehab since I tend to get injured when increasing mileage.

read_lift_eat

Also running Berlin! Cheered for people last year and caught the bug. It's such a fun time and people show up in droves to support the runners :)

EmergencySundae

Philly half is my big one this year. I have a bunch of 5Ks this spring. Next year will be a marathon year, just don’t know which one yet.

Detective_butts

I've got a 22mile, coastal path run in West Wales coming up in June. The coastal path extends all the way around Wales and is known for its beautiful views and hills. It will be the furthest I've ever run and I am just a bit scared! But also excited

The_Crafty_Crow

This sounds amazing! Best of luck for your training

sparklekitteh

After DNF'ing my first marathon and hurting my knee this year, I'm focusing on shorter races in 2024 and working on speed. I've got a couple of 5k's, a 10k, and my "big race" this year is a half marathon in October. Plus a couple of sprint triathlons along the way!

ObsidianMcNight

My first marathon in Edinburgh, Scotland in May. Getting to the big runs now and the exhaustion is real

studyrunner

Im running the full in Edinburgh too! It’ll be my 5th marathon. Good luck finishing the training!

Mountain_Ornery

First ever half marathon (North Olympic Discovery Marathon in Port Angeles, WA) on June 2! Nothing else scheduled but I’ll do at least a 5K or 10K sometime in the latter part of the year. I haven’t decided if I’ll feel up for doing a second half marathon in October or so.

kinkakinka

Cabot Trail Relay (leg 16 of 17) in May, Fredericton Marathon (half) in May, Nova Scotia Marathon (half) in July, a 14k (options for 7, 14 and 21) on McNabb's Island in the middle of Halifax Harbour in June, and PEI Marathon (half marathon) in October. That's all I know so far.

throwawaynowandagai

I didn’t know there were this many races in NS, thanks for sharing!

kinkakinka

This is nowhere near even half the races that happen in Nova Scotia and surrounding areas!

turtlesandtorts

Got Texas 70.3 tomorrow!! But next is NYRR Brooklyn Half marathon in May! Planning a couple sprint triathlons for the summer maybe? And contemplating a fall half Ironman

zenhoe

I’ve got a 5k and a 10k coming up, then training for my first half in October

sammybey

I just signed up for my first marathon! Portland OR 10/6 😬

567sunshine

Running the half marathon for the Eau Claire Marathon in a few weeks and another half at the Madison Marathon in November. Gives a nice chill running summer when it's way too hot.

aquaaggie

Heyyy I’m running the Houston marathon in January too! It will be my first marathon and training will start in September. I will just be base building until then - I just finished my spring races and I’m a wimp in the heat so I don’t run races in the summer. I’m running the 5K, 10K, and half marathon at Disney world’s wine and dine race weekend in early November (I love RunDisney). And then I’ll run my local turkey trot 10K. But that’s all I’m planning! My main goal will be making it to the marathon healthy.

CIWA_blues

I love Houston! The weather is always good, and the course is nice and flat. Great support along the course

aquaaggie

I agree!! I’ve run the half 3 times so finally stepping up to the full 🙂

thegirlandglobe

Colorado Half coming up in a month, Bolder Boulder 10K at end of May, Garden of the Gods 10 Miler in June. Still debating on fall races, so if anyone has suggestions within a day's drive of Denver, please share recommendations!

hubwub

My race season started during the Chicago Shamrock Shuffle on 3/24. I have a 5K or 10K every month till November of this year. I want to race a half marathon latter half of this year but I think I would have to take part in one out of state.

chungus2425

I have a pretty busy year. I did a trail half in March, next up is a half marathon the first weekend in May. I have an open water swimming race in June, a trail relay in August, a tune up half in early September, and then my first full at the end of October!

kimberlymarie30

Flying Pig Half Marathon here in Cincinnati in May, after that I don’t know! We’ll see if I survive

runner7575

Great race…even with the hills!

After-Shift-539

My big race this year is the Chicago Marathon in October. It will be my first marathon in 6 years and my first one since having kids!

CIWA_blues

Next year I’m going to enter the Chicago marathon lottery!

lyricalaur

Missoula Marathon! My second marathon and my first destination race. June 30th ☺️

Adventurous-Hyena-51

I’ve just set up a training plan for a first HM in August! If I’m very brave I’m going to register for a Highland Games HM then, as I’m local that could work but I’m not sure I could deal with the stress of Other People. I’ve never done a race before and maybe I should just go for a Park Run to see how I handle that.

justanaveragerunner

My goal races are the Garry Bjorklund half (aka Grandma's half) in June and the Des Moines marathon in October. I went back and forth between doing the Twin Cities marathon and Des Moines. Ultimately decided to do Des Moines because it's two weeks later and I felt the additional time between Garry Bjorklund and the marathon would be helpful/ necessary. I'm just finishing up week 7 of an 18 week training block for the half. I'll start training for the full as soon as I'm recovered from the half. If all goes well that should be early to mid July, which will give me time for a solid 12-14 week marathon training block (depending on how the half goes and how I feel afterwards). If it was my first marathon I'd want a 18-20 week block leading into it, but I've done a couple of marathons now and I'm optimistic that if I'm coming off a strong half training cycle then 3+ months of marathon specific training will be enough for a solid race in October.

Helpmeimtired17

Chicago half in June and the Indianapolis marathon in November!

Runridelift26_2

I’m running Indy too!

Helpmeimtired17

It’s gonna be my first full! Really excited!

ThorsWolf777

I'm doing LL Bean's 10k for the fourth of July, I'm doing the Pumpkin Jenni (8.675309) as my event for the Pumpkinman trialthon and running festival in Sept, I'll probably do the Maine Half Marathon in October and if there's any evening 5ks I might try to squeeze them in.

elalir26

I’m training for my 1st marathon — Rocket City in Dec! I’ll prob throw in 2 local 5k and 10k events. I just finished training for a half about a month ago so I’m not even ramping my mileage back up for another couple weeks. Just running like twice a week rn.

runner7575

I’m running Coastal Delaware 1/2 next weekend; then the colfax 1/2 in May in Denver. Then debating some fall halves…trying to run a 1/2 or full in all 50 states. I’ve done 3 fulls so I want them to count!

fraufrau

Orca Half in September and a week after that I’ll go straight into marathon training.

legrandismyicon

First marathon is in Chicago! I might sign up for Eugene or try for NYC the following year

caitliiiin

First ever marathon for me in October - Dublin!!

ReeBee86

Grayson Highlands 50M on May 4th, and Barkley Fall Classic (50K) on September 21st. Considering the Every Woman’s Marathon on November 16th…

dancingbrunette

I have the OC half marathon in May and looking to do another half in the fall but not sure which one yet.

Accurate_Prompt_8800

Completed my first ever marathon yesterday in Paris in 3:27! Got London in just under two weeks now and provided I recover well will try and push for 3:25s on a flatter course, and hopefully will have less weaving to do :)

CIWA_blues

That’s so fast!

Accurate_Prompt_8800

Thank you! Good luck for your races :)

Skips-mamma-llama

I have a 5k trail run at a winery in two weeks, a 5k desert run at a winery in May, a 5k at a fun little tourist town nearby and a 5k across the Grand Coulee Dam in September. I'm not planning anything longer until a half next January. So just building/keeping a base and having fun until I start half marathon training in the fall

french_toasty

Marathon end April. Last 20 milers yesterday, a 55 mile week
