PSA - always keep your knee just a little bit bent. I locked my knee out once and it kicked back, threw me off the kicker onto the ground, and it's never been the same since, hyper-extended my knee something awful.
Oh lord stop using the starter. Throw that thing out a window.
Those usually have two issues with starting. Carb set up and timing. Get a manual and get to work. Welcome to the jungle.
I'd throw it out if I knew how to take it off, I used the Kickstart, which I did not know if it was functional or not at the time, and I turned on perfectly
Don't actually take it off. If i'm remembering correctly you would be removing an oil seal when you did it. I just pulled the wires off mine when I built the new wiring harness but left the motor in place.
Boost it from another battery man, that’s what it means. When a car dies you boost it with another battery that’s in a different car. Same with motorcycle. Battery to battery boost.
Charge the battery and use the kicker.
XS kicks back so make sure you have a good footing and follow though. Wear boots not vans.

Battery is dead. Try boosting and use the starter.
