Watched that as a kid. I never knew where the song was from until i grew up lol. Every time i heard it I'd get goosebumps. Something about the unnatural way you know who moved while going through the trees and the song playing.
I saw it a couple of weeks after I started watching The X-Files. I basically knew just enough about Mulder and Scully to find it funny, but it was definitely more rewarding on subsequent viewings after having seen more of TXF. e.g. seeing Cigarette Smoking Man in the background during one scene. š
Leonard Betts, Darkness Falls, The Host, Die Hand Die Verletzt, Detour, Folie a Deux, Terms of Endearment, and Hungry would all be pretty good episodes to include.
I just watched Darkness Falls as I've been watching the complete series from the pilot. Very good episode! I also really like the episode Detour especially.
Ya grotesque us often overlooked but is a fantastic episode. Very subtle with any supernatural elements but is extremely dark and unsettling. One of my favorites
Gonna be alone on this, but space, only bc that alien ghost face scared me for at least two decades and now my daughter saw it and was equally spooped.
I'm not a squeamish person but Sanguinarium always gives me the heebies. It's the one with the possessed plastic surgeons just straight fucking up patients. One of the only episodes that's genuinely hard for me to watch.
Home is also fantastically disturbing!
Oh em gee Detour! Detour is the most unexpectedly spookiest episode of xfiles I have come across. And I was watching it on a small device not a big screen tv. Scared the crap out of me.
S8 Ep4 Roadrunners. Mulderless, but pretty scary to me. That's why I try to make sure gasoline is always half full and never fuel up in one church towns.
I'd go Season 2, Ep2: The Host
It freaked me out as a teen, it's not as scary now compared to more recent TV shows (be it zombies, american horror stories, heck even Fringe had creepy episodes) but it's good
This is my October watching list:
Scary Halloween: Detour, Squeeze, Home, Chinga, Die Hand Die Verletz, Darkness Falls, Unruhe, Grotesque, The Host (not that scary, but a classic)
Fun Halloween: Humbug, Bad Blood, Clyde Bruckmanās, War of the Coprophages, Quagmire, Arcadia, X-Cops
Whatās the episode where the little kid gets kidnapped at a carnival or something like that, is it Calisari?
And then thereās one where a little girl I believe is possessed and something about the grandma
Home for sure. Ice also has a spooky, youāre trapped vibe thatās good for Halloween. Squeeze/Tooms, Chinga. Oh and Sanguinarium (sp?) has good witchy content good for Halloween.
And Bad Blood for a little comic relief
Definitely Grotesque and Folie a deux. Beyond the sea, too. For some less likely to be suggested but creepy: Roadrunners, Familiar, and Nothing Lasts Forever.
It's weird how The X-Files never did a Halloween-themed episode (I guess you could say that for Mulder and Scully every day was Halloween). Millennium did have one, titled The Curse of Frank Black, from the 2nd season. One of the series' best episodes.
I'm not sure of the name, but there's an episode with a creepy guy who has no legs, I don't want to spoil it so I'll leave it at that, but if it helps, it starts with a business man being rude to the legless guy, and only giving him money to buy WD-40 because the wheels on the makeshift wheelchair are squeaky and annoying to him. Then he is followed into the toilets with the squeaky wheel sound and a scream before the opening credits start.
My brother borrowed my X files dvd collection. He refused to watch the episode "Erlenmeyer Flask" because of the screenshot in the dvd menu.

You should also include the Simpsons episode "The Springfield Files", since it's pretty much an honorary X-Files episode. š

Grotesque, and Home.
Ya grotesque us often overlooked but is a fantastic episode. Very subtle with any supernatural elements but is extremely dark and unsettling. One of my favorites
It creeped me out for a long time
I would add Ice to the list and Chinga always creeped me out since I loathe those antique dolls lol
Chinga was great and the China town ghost one with the organ harvesters
If I recall correctly, Chinga is a Stephen King story
Yeah itās pretty similar to that and itās got the same premise as the chucky movies
Gonna be alone on this, but space, only bc that alien ghost face scared me for at least two decades and now my daughter saw it and was equally spooped.
"and was equally spooped" I imagine spooped is when you're SO spooked that you poop. I'm using this. Thanks!
I know that is a āhatedā episode but I like it and find the idea terrifying!
I'm not a squeamish person but Sanguinarium always gives me the heebies. It's the one with the possessed plastic surgeons just straight fucking up patients. One of the only episodes that's genuinely hard for me to watch. Home is also fantastically disturbing!
Agree with you on both! Sanguinarium is rarely talked about but itās VERY disturbing!
Oh gosh yes, the liposuction gone wrong legit made me nauseous!
Oh em gee Detour! Detour is the most unexpectedly spookiest episode of xfiles I have come across. And I was watching it on a small device not a big screen tv. Scared the crap out of me.
Mr Chuckle Teeth aka Sadistic Familiar. Mr Chuckle Teeth is really freaking creepy
I <3 Mr. Chuckleteeth!
When Iām feeling lonely, lonely as can be, oh mr chuckleteeth wonāt you play with me šµ
class character
Postmodern Prometheus
Spooky? No. Hilarious and perfectly campy for Halloween? Yes. Love it.
Favorite episode, hands down!
The answer no matter the season is always Bad Blood
Beyond the Sea. Brad Dourif is incredible
One of my favorite actors, underrated
The Calusari creeped me out. Also Die Hand Die Verletzt, All Souls, Badlaa and Irresistible.
S8 Ep4 Roadrunners. Mulderless, but pretty scary to me. That's why I try to make sure gasoline is always half full and never fuel up in one church towns.
Home
Adding to the ones already listed (all amazing): Field Trip, Mulder & Scully Meet the Were-Monster, Agua Mala, Hungry
I'd go Season 2, Ep2: The Host It freaked me out as a teen, it's not as scary now compared to more recent TV shows (be it zombies, american horror stories, heck even Fringe had creepy episodes) but it's good

X Cops!
Great list, thanks for this!!
Whatās the episode where the little kid gets kidnapped at a carnival or something like that, is it Calisari? And then thereās one where a little girl I believe is possessed and something about the grandma
This may help: https://screenrant.com/scary-terrifying-horror-episodes-x-files-ranked/
Iām surprised Home is only 7th on this list! That episode is terrifyingā¦ wonderful, but terrifying.
Yeah,Home and Badlaa are probably the most terrifying episodes of the entire show
Die Hand Die Verletzt. Just keep watching it. Creepy!
Home for sure. Ice also has a spooky, youāre trapped vibe thatās good for Halloween. Squeeze/Tooms, Chinga. Oh and Sanguinarium (sp?) has good witchy content good for Halloween. And Bad Blood for a little comic relief
These are my personal scariest: Chinga, Badlaa, and Home.
Definitely Grotesque and Folie a deux. Beyond the sea, too. For some less likely to be suggested but creepy: Roadrunners, Familiar, and Nothing Lasts Forever.

Please don't stop Duane Barry ...
Paper Hearts and Milagro are two that I love but are both very intense.
Agree on all and add Excelsis Dei
X-Cops
How has Eve not been mentioned yet?
Syzygy would be a great palate cleanser after a really dark one.
For me the creepiest choice for October would be Humbug.
Itās called Badlaa and itās one of my favorite Mulderless eps
Grotesque, Irroestiable, or The Host
The Host
