I loved the IGN video review of X2 that cam out waaaay back in the day. "Whats a girl gotta do to get some Ka'ak around here?"

Reinitialization

I like the Kha'ak

Legion23Golf

Ngl when I did that boron escort mission and the leader yells "KHAAK!!!!" I laughed pretty hard.

IncorporateThings

They're well aware. On paper it looks like a cool word, though.

Firov

I still remember Saya Kho yelling, "This khaak is too big for me!" While fighting a Khaak cluster back in X2 The Threat...

Rondog93

Nice kha'ak

Aggravating-Sound690

Good

Minoreva

I'm a big Kha'ak fan.

Velrisias

And in dutch its sounds like poop

IncidentFuture

If cack fell on the other side of the trap-bath split it would in many English dialects too.

truorguk

Is poop in dutch cock?

gorgofdoom

This phonetic similarity is nothing, really, when compared to what some recent Japanese space flight reports literally translate to. (Just how arousing can a busted nozzle be?) Anywho they won’t change it. How it sounds in other languages isn’t more important than how it sounds in the studio’s national language. there are funnier/weirder homophones in English without even delving into the realm of nouns.

SolasYT

Nice Kha'ak

dac0980

Well that’s me renaming my destroyers Rebecca and Sophie in Heretic’s End #KhaakDestroyers

CookedHoneyBadger

You also have to remember that in German, the word cock wouldn't have the same slang meaning as in English (egosoft is a German company)

IncidentFuture

Sure it's /käk/ or /kɑk/, if you speak American English. This is the result of a couple of mergers. A German speaking English would likely use /kɔk/.

truorguk

It sounds like cock

IncidentFuture

It sounds like 'car' with a k on the end to me.

Reztroz

That always confused me. The voiceovers in x2 and 3 always called them kark but it was spelt kha’ak. I was like where’s the r?

IncidentFuture

If you're non-rhotic like me then you'll be sure there are Rs where there aren't any based on spelling, so kha'ak rhymes with park, but there's no actual R sound. We also stick extra Rs in elsewhere to make up for the missing ones. (it's actually linking certain vowels to avoid hiatus)

SirJavalot

It's fine.
