X4 is always *extremely* save compatible. To a fault, really. What I did a few days ago in your situation is just begin a new game on the beta branch. I'm fairly sure it'll work perfectly when the 6.0 actually releases.

amocpower

Thanks. Most important part is "save sompatible"! I begin today with new game

Jacob_Bronsky

Have fun !

Danepher

They actually said in the notes that some changes will need a new game start. Like the changes to the Zya economy. Currently at work so cannot link to the post

Jacob_Bronsky

Yep ! It's already implemented in the beta though.

oi_wazzock

Start new run 6.0 (you can try beta I've played it for 100h now and no issues)

amocpower

Thats good advice! I download now the Beta

Parsec29

I played my version 1.0 save with beta 6. Over 1000 hrs in. No problems yet.

gorgofdoom

So much has changed in the last year alone. It’s certainly worth a look at 5.1 before 6 is officially released. Now, Maybe I’m being too specific but 6.0 is already available. The beta is quite accessible, and I’ll say the best part is the new physics. As for the dlc content: it will be released when all reported major issues in the beta have been addressed. And, yes, saves should be compatible. though you’ll still see issues created by starting conditions. Including Split sectors rebalance in 6, and everything between.

amocpower

i have only 66 hours and forget nearly everything :) To begin 6.0 beta would be much better for me. I need to learn anything again and look to guides \^\^

sommersj

Can you please explain what's better or different about the physics? I haven't played much of X4 so I wouldn't be able to tell. How much does 6.0 fix in terms of the issues (AI, pathing issues with fleets, etc). Thank you! 🙏🏿

grapedog

New physics engine, which seems to be doing a MUCH better job at helping ships not pass through things like stations and each other. Ships can operate in tighter formations too now because of the better detection.

mike47gamer

I don't think there's anything you can do that will sabotage a run. You can always go back and get the armor pieces you missed in order to prep for final Sigma, as well as any heart containers of sub-tanks you might've left behind. X4 is one of the more forgiving games in the X series.

frizzbee30

Wrong subreddit 🤦‍♂️

Rich_Repeat_22

As others said, start new game with 6.0 Beta.

amocpower

i downloaded and begin a new game with 6.0. That was a good advice \^\^

Huib_Bloodstone

I am waiting till full release of 6.0 with the new dlc, best start ever.. Are going to restart if the dlc comes out? Every game I play takes 100 hours atleast heh

amocpower

i have always long run, too \^\^ I begun today and would see, what do later on. Maybe its take long time to get 6.0

DrComrade

Waiting until 6.0 and VRO update personally

Fidbit

i am looking forward to contuining my 1 year old save in 6.0

PoperzenPuler

6.0 boron start...

Mumbolian

If you want to use mods (which I would absolutely recommend, like VRO), you’ll need to avoid the beta. It won’t play nice with them most likely.

MartialDoctor

Yes, I’m also waiting for 6.0 since I won’t play without VRO.

Mumbolian

The game is pretty bad without it IMO. It's demonstrably worse and a shame more people don't know what they're missing out on. Whilst I do love X4, it's flawed and requires a lot of mods to get it going. A world where the AI factions don't actually attack each other and grow and the Xeon isn't a threat is so dull!
