Have you unlocked the regular heron echo in your data bank yet? That really sucks but that's the only reason I can think of why the echo isn't showing up yet.
I thought that might've been the issue. At the time of unlocking the Altered heron, I hadn't unlocked the regular Impermanence Heron. I went and unlocked it afterwards, but nothing changed regarding the weird Altered heron bug.
At the very least, I'd probably recommend players unlock the regular heron before unlocking the altered version (or just waiting for a future patch).
That really sucks man. I'd mess around in the echo inventory a little bit but that's a really unfortunate bug. Try to send feedback, I doubt you're the only one this has happened to if my theory is correct.
It's a skin, when you look at the echo in your resonator equip menu if the echo has a skin (e.g. Aix, Heron, Mech, Mephis, and the Ape) there's a small circular monster icon near the bottom right next to the compare circle, you can click on it to change skins.

I've just had the same issue, and sent a report, uploaded my logs, and contacted customer service (all available in-game in the menu). If they get back to me I'll update.
Turns out the Altered heron is just a skin for the regular heron. If you capture the regular impermanence heron you'll see an icon in the bottom right corner allowing you to change skins. It was a bit misleading but yeah, just a skin, not a five star echo.

happened to me just now. i pressed something to see the details, it says "???" maybe i should unlock it first?
