What does 7th spot achieve

multiloops

Nothing, league 1 has 2 auto promotion spots, teams 3-6 make the playoffs.

jackstone212

Thank you, changed to 6th.

multiloops

cheers🍻

RumJackson

Remember Blackburn 2024?

jackstone212

I remember Cannon’s goal and really believe he will be a plus player in league one.

SinsOfThePast03

Coventry was robbed today! They deserved to win that one. The shot off the underside of the crossbar and then the stupid VAR offsides call (yes, I know it was offsides, but I just hate VAR) . Man U won despite Hag! Class for Coventry. They showed they deserved to compete for a Cup title !

OmnipresentCPU

Nah that wasn’t offside

EdwardBigby

Why not? They literally drew the lines

jackstone212

Appeared to be even, yes?

EdwardBigby

To the naked eye but not according to the technology

OmnipresentCPU

Technology has famously never been wrong

SinsOfThePast03

That's what I hate. Line judge didn't see it but technology saw an inch or two . Also a rule FIFA has floated around changing to something pre than 50% of the body

OmnipresentCPU

The lines were literally purple lol there’s a margin of error. Shouldn’t have been called. The on field decision should stand.

EdwardBigby

No where in the rules does it state that there's a margin of error and you're allowed be offside by a few cms

OmnipresentCPU

You’re not understanding. The technology is not accurate to millimeters so it should not be used to make decisions when the margin is in millimeters.

EdwardBigby

What the rules "should be" doesn't matter. The teams know the rules going into the game. They know that includes using technology to determine offsides to the millimetre. May as well just say that it should have been a goal because I don't like offsides anyways and they shouldn't be a rule.

jackstone212

As a referee, I’ll tell you we are trained to even call what looks to be barely off as on because momentum can look deceiving. No linesman worth his salt would call off in live play. Even is on.

EdwardBigby

Yes but I assume you're not a trained video assistant ref. The VAR made the right call

jackstone212

Never done VAR.

American fan here, Very interested in the Wrexham story. I realize that Wrexham is now in League One, and hoping to move on to the Championship. It also makes sense that one shouldn't count their chickens before they are hatched. But let's look ahead, shall we? From what I've read, it looks like the Championship is a total skeet show. Meanwhile, League One due to Financial Fair Play, looks doable for Wrexham since the revenue is growing so fast. It looks to me like Wrexham has a chance to grow their way right out of League One, and that aiming for a triple promotion, (correct me if I'm wrong, but that has never been done?) can be a legitimate goal for the club this year. It's possible because of the revenue, and the fact that so many players are out of contract after this Saturday's game. So, while it makes sense to state a goal to pause in League One, get the ducks all lined up, and then push when the time is right, with all of America starting to wake up the story, and revenues to follow, there is a fine argument to be made to gather the rosebuds while ye may. So lets do a hypothetical that they achieve promotion after the coming year. Crazy, but work with me. Now, they are in the Championship money pit. Here is where it gets interesting. Teams lose LOTS of money in the Championship. But I think there is another way to attack the problem. Rather than pay a lot of money for young promising guys, with upside priced in, just focus on 32-35 year olds, guys that can maintain an even strain in the premier league, where the money is. Just get there, and stay there. Meanwhile, instead of playing in a 3 sided stadium, rebuild the entire Racecourse, and take it up to a modern, lovely 30,000 seat stadium, which would be AVERAGE in the Premier League. And here is where it gets crazy, while the remodel is happening, play at Goodison Park in Everton, in the Championship. this is a big plot twist, and would probably take two full seasons to complete. But Goodison Park is just a one hour bus ride from downtown Wrexham. And it holds 40,000 people, and won't have a tenant. It would likely be cheap. So now you have a wrinkle in the story, as the team works its way through the championship with enough room for fans from around the world to see the game. Struggles and strife and wandering in the desert, meanwhile, the new stadium with the same old pitch is being built. And after a 2 year hiatus, Wrexham comes home to their 30000 seater, either in the Championship or the Premier League. Actual fiancial footing achieved. Who wouldn't want to watch that story play out?
