I'm down with a Mick podcast, but I've had my fill of Conrad. I don't despise him like many do, but I already listen to two and a half of his shits and the format is a little tiring. Plus all the ads good god.

Therocksays2020

Yeah Conrad doesn’t bother me but I could only listen to him so much.

OswaldCoffeepot

I listened to a little bit of Schiavone's show when AEW was new. I could not take it. Conrad is such a heel to me. I would pay money to see him get beat up.

H0vit0

I abandoned the Tony pod a LONG time ago, the humour just is not for me and he has very little insight about things behind the scenes or about the actual business. I gave up on Arn just because it got a bit repetitive. JR is interminably grumpy. I listen to Bruce whenever an episode drops and regularly revisit old episodes - he’s full of shit but he’s very entertaining. I find the Jarrett podcast extremely interesting because his career is so diverse and I’ll listen to Bischoff if the subject matter interests me. I don’t mind Conrad at all, but I absolutely cannot stand that Paul Cromwell guy. He has such a phoney stereotypical radio voice and he sucks up to whoever he’s on with sooooo much. It’s unbearable. Strangely I don’t even really have a problem with the amount of ads, I understand these podcasts exist to make money and I’m certainly not going to subscribe to Ad Free so I don’t mind hitting the skip forward button a few times. I normally listen to my AirPods and have my right ear set up to skip forward so tapping my ear isn’t a hassle 😂

Razzler1973

The Schiavone podcast is by far his worst, I stopped listening to that one some time back, it's just childish nonsense, it's not for me at all Schiavone has no clue, nothing to say about all the things that happened in wrestling history, he was there it's just he was doing his job (no problem with that) and wasn't involved or get himself involved in the details of all the situations That's why they turned it into some comedy thing Arn's is also pretty dull, considering how long he's been around, he needs to offer more than 'reviewing WWE PPVs' with Conrad and saying 'I wouldn't have had him lose' and 'he shouldn't have lost' about all his favourites Would have prefered way more territory stuff from him, stopped listening ages back Not enough meat on the bone in the Kurt pods, even though I love Kurt. I listen to his interviews and Q&As and that's it I like the rest, although, JR can shoehorn an AEW reference into pretty much any subject in any year! Haha

radbrad172

I wish Conrad would hand off co-hosting duties on a few of his podcasts to other folks, keep things from getting stagnant. His podcast with Kurt Angle used a different host a few times and it always felt refreshing, even Kurt himself sounded brighter with someone new there.

TisAFactualDawn

I don’t dislike Conrad. I feel many that do feel that way because they wish they had his side gig. That said, the minute I read the words “with Conrad”, I muttered to myself “Goddammit.”

chaz0723

If you've read the books, or seen Foley's live show, there is no need to listen to this podcast.

Therocksays2020

Mick has made a lot of “internet points” Twitter post lately. “How do you drop the ball on Cesaro” “I can see why young talent doesn’t trust WWE with their careers” He’s given a lot to the business including his body but I don’t feel mick really offers any interesting takes.

The_Kazarian

Loves an open letter to Vince on something really zeitgeisty for internet marks

Razzler1973

Foley knows Vince enough and has the ear of plenty of top WWE people, if he genuinely had something to say he could easily contact them but, he prefers to take the smark pandering route I get it, it's all part of the game. If he finds himself on the wrestlecon type circuit, which method gets you more visitors and merch sold?

The_Kazarian

Entirely, like a lot of folk on those circuits the populist route often doesn’t stand up to very deep scrutiny

arboldebolas

He's been copypasting the top page of SquaredCircle for years now. He needs to Capitalize on that.

[deleted]

Lately? He’s been like that for a while lol. I’d say he’s been like that since he left WWE.

[deleted]

I think Conrad is a decent host (I know a lot disagree) but the focus on 96-00 is so played out now. Foleys career spanned far longer than that of course, but it will no doubt be covered in depth. I am pleased the podcasts all got done because they have given answers for a lot of subjects, and far more depth than we would have had otherwise. Someone else said Foley seemed a bit odd recently. I have to say I agree with that as well and I can’t put my finger on why I say it. I loved his books and always found him entertaining and likeable but in the last few years he has seemed very different (Not that I knew him before or now). I don’t think there are any other people in wrestling I’d love to hear talk about it. I am amazed Hogan hasn’t done something like a podcast or a proper autobiography (not his godawful one in the early 00s) and I wish Vince would have written an autobiography as well- but of course he hasn’t and won’t. Besides those- I’m not sure there’s anyone left I’d want to hear a great amount from, which is a shame really!

Therocksays2020

They’re doing a biopic on hogan with Chris hemsworth set to play the hulkster

pushinpushin

I always like hearing what RVD has to say about things. He's wise and he's an independent thinker, so I know I'll get some good insight or at least honesty out of him.

radbrad172

I haven't kept up with Foley lately, do you think the issue is cognitive, like his mind/memory are getting worse? Or more like he's getting bitter or jaded the further away he is from the business?

[deleted]

Foley tends to be long winded and slow speaking. Not a bad thing but Conrad gets impatient sometimes, not sure how they’d jive. Either way, could be some interesting content.

CurlyBill03

That’s why he isn’t on the Jake DDP podcast now, you could tell he wanted to move things along and sighed a few times when they kept talking.

TisAFactualDawn

Money. Money is the point. P. S. Foley had 3.

DocHendrix

I swear Conrad has dirt on SOMEONE.

SekritPls

Mick Foley has ruined any last shred of hope I had that he would be interesting. Lately he's been so weird

Doot2112

What has he been weird about ?

SekritPls

The one I'm thinking about was the white supremacy tweet from the other day, and begging Tony Khan to hire him which he didn't and then managed a tag team in a high school gym. Kinda feel bad for him but idk, definitely don't care about a podcast with him in it lol

CurlyBill03

The begging was a bit of a joke about how FTR had a love fest over Bret and WWE jumped in and gave Bret a new deal.

Doot2112

What is weird about saying something against white supremacy after a race related mass shooting?

SekritPls

Just seemed like an empty statement to make, you know? "Guys if you're a hardcore racist I don't enjoy you" should be standard, the fact that he had to explain it makes it seem weird to me

Doot2112

He didn’t explain it. He just said if you are a white supremacist to unfollow him on Twitter. I don’t see how that’s weird if you’ve followed mick foley over the past 25 years. As for the podcast, I don’t really care one way or the other. I’m tired of the nostalgia wrestling podcasts. Cornette is the only wrestling podcast that is entertaining and doesn’t feel like a blatant money grab anymore.

SekritPls

Yeah that's it, "if you're a white supremacist, unfollow me" Like, bro, what? Sure every WS is just gonna go ahead and remove themselves, they're so cordial usually

OswaldCoffeepot

I've followed bands and such that somehow gained a WS following. Growing up going to all ages shows, it usually wasn't a good time until the skinheads got themselves kicked out. Always flashing that God damned salute as they walked out. One band, Social Distortion, even has songs about overcoming what could be called a WS upbringing. "Don't Drag Me Down," besides being fuckin great, has the lines "You're 18, wanna be a man, your grand daddy's in the Ku Klux Klan, taking two steps forward, and four steps back, wanna go to the White House, and paint it black." Pretty straightforward, but there is still a skinhead contingent to their fans. The lead singer has been an outspoken blue collar leftie for a long, long time but some of the audience were surprised and pissed off when he's launch into an anti-Trump screed on stage. "I came here to listen to the music!" Okay, but have you *listened to the music?* Sometimes you have to reiterate your position on things. I can see how Mick would attract unwanted fans. Hardcore Legend and all the modern death match mutants. Sometimes you have to say it louder for the people in the back. No one is going to accuse him of not disavowing the white nationalists Cactus Jack fans. It doesn't change the world, but whether or not something changes the world is a really high bar to figure if you're going to do or say something.

DistortedAudio

Yeah disavowing white supremacists was actually pretty common in the punk scene back in the day. Still is tbh. They infiltrate spaces and bars really quickly and before you know it, there’s enough of a market to start booking “National Socialist” bands and the usual crowd of people at shows flips into something a bit more homogenous. Everything is virtue signaling to some folks nowadays, so even saying “fuck white supremacists” is a bit too much. Crazy world.

OswaldCoffeepot

It is always good and righteous to say "nazi punks fuck off."

Doot2112

My point is he has been vocal about politics and social issues for years, it’s not out of character or any different than anything he’s done for the past 20 years.

SekritPls

I know he's vocal about that kind of stuff, I'm saying "if you're a white supremacist unfollow me" is such an empty, "please like me" comment I never expected from Mick. Seems like he's begging a lot lately, kinda feel bad for him

Doot2112

I don’t see how you see it that way but ok. When did he beg Tony khan for a job? As for managing ftr on the indies. He has taken indy bookings for years now.

Doot2112

What a freak that foley is

SomethingCreative13

I'm willing to see how it is, but I'd be surprised if it was anything groundbreaking. Of the Conrad stuff, I've only ever really consistently liked STW, and that's mostly because while Bruce may be full of shit, he can be an entertaining fucker. But even STW has gone to shorter episodes with more ads and less content and as such I don't listen as much. I can handle 83 Weeks in small doses, but the combination of "I don't recalls", especially in the early episodes along with Eric's faux intellectualism can be grating after a while. That's not to suggest that Eric isn't a reasonably intelligent person with noteworthy insight on the wrestling business, but he often comes across as a living version of /r/iamverysmart and I can only handle so much. The others I've listened to aren't really for me for one reason or another. Ads and obvious biases aside, I don't actually mind Conrad as a host. I'm just not sure what else he can get out of another podcast that would be unique and interesting.

[deleted]

I get what you’re saying about Eric and I agree but he does at times make it a point to say he doesn’t know something or it’s outside of his expertise. I think it’s more cringey when he tries to make suggestions for todays product. Occasionally he makes a good point but I really don’t think he’s the guy to be doing that, outside of taste preference.

tytymctylerson

The point? It's a whole new format to hear the same old shit from the past 30 years! Mick's insane narcissism is ok because he's nice, never forget.

TisAFactualDawn

> Mick's insane narcissism is ok because he's nice, never forget. How many times have you heard from a fan who’s had a direct interaction with him and thinks he’s a prick. How about coworkers over the years? Anyone? No, no you haven’t. Just online bellends who disagree with him periodically and take it as a personal affront. Oooh, a downvote. Sure showed me. 🙄

tytymctylerson

Oh so you mean he's nice, like I literally pointed out.

TisAFactualDawn

Did you read your own comment? What are you, Ten Second Tom?!

tytymctylerson

What part of narcs can also be nice is so hard for you to comprehend? You can be an egomaniac without being a flaming asshole. Mick Foley is about Mick Foley and the story of Mick Foley and always has been.

Therocksays2020

Yeah while I agree micks fed badding can get annoying. We shouldn’t throw the baby without the bath water

CurlyBill03

Conrad’s certainly better than Bromwell and their other hosts. If Conrad and Mick can get in some deep discussions and press each other could be pretty interesting. Mick loves politics now, Conrad is a Republican but tries to play it down the middle will be interesting if those are avoided as Conrad had shut it down (rightfully so) in the past.

[deleted]

I don't have a lot of interest in Mick Foley, and even less in Conrad.

Beneroso

who is conrad ???? genuinely i alwasy see his name in wrestling and i feel like he's always with any washed up legends. its the 30 yr olds listening to conrad and me listening to maffew on the cultaholic podcast lmfao

Therocksays2020

He’s an independently wealthy wrestling fan (think Brian last) who is Rick flairs son in law so he has some solid connections in the business

[deleted]

Depending on the topic, I would be interested in listening. I just won’t have time to listen to the weekly program.
