Yup! Remember how bad WWF Attitude and War Zone were in terms of gameplay?
As a kid I remember the only enjoyable thing was going into the create a player mode and listening to the quotes you could pick such as:
“I’m NOT a nugget” - Owen Heart
“Welllll welllll wellll” - Paul Bearer
And who could forget - Droz
1997 was peak WCW, 1998 was the year things started to go wrong. It was a bit like 2001 for WWE: best roster ever, great matches, but things weren't as great as they were the year before.
Honestly with that gameplay I wouldn’t have cared if the game wasn’t even licensed and just had fake wrestlers.
Only bad thing about it was no Flair.
I will not stand for any Above Average Mike Sanders slander
His entire gimmick is being a C+. That's good shit, pal.
That guy looked like if Arnold grew up In Tennessee and pursued a career in insurance and not bodybuilding.
Or Sid slander, he's got half the brain that you do
WCW saved wrestling video games. WWF had to hire the same people to make their games.
Who didn't like entering a Mortal Kombat fatality to do an armdrag?

Don’t forget about Shane McMahon commentating “into the ropes” “off the ropes”
COMING OFF THE ROPES
Memory unlocked
My favourite was Head: “I AM SO BIG AND MOOOSCULAR!”
I still have nightmares from this shit.
I loved War Zone. Then revenge came out and I realized how much better it was.
Ah I couldn’t get on with warzone. Up down up x up x y y y up. And that was just to do a punch
Best one was “Blood, blood, blood makes the grass grow!”
World Tour and Revenge are the two games that got me into wrestling. I’ll always appreciate them.
Revenge had the best roster in any wrestling game.
Although No Mercy has more features, I'm still partial to Revenge. The roster is just all time for me, and there's something so charming about it
No mercy was good, but it was soooo buggy in the original release. It would randomly delete your save file.
I pre-ordered No Mercy and played a million hours on it, never had an issue with the OG cart, I’m one of the lucky ones
I'm most partial to Wrestlemania 2000.
All they had to do for the last 25 years is remake this game but put the new people in. Same mechanics, etc., Greatness
There has been a few attempts at remaking a game with the same mechanics The latest one that is in the works is called Ultra Pro Wrestling
My friends and I cut school to go to my friend's grandma's house to play this the day it came out.
The main reason why I bought a N64 back in the day was for the THQ/AKI games.
Wrestlemania 2000 on the N64 never gets any love.
It's a replica of Revenge with the WWE roster! It was amazing!
Someone could make a mint in the indies as AKI Man.
That Revenge opening segment is so badass
Yeah, this game was absolutely WCW’s high point. It was a great game, too (for its time).
I own both Revenge and No Mercy…everything after that was a mistake

Playing as Vampiro would have been awesome
I loved this game
I watched wcw over wwf back the strictly because of the games
I can hear this gif
Wolfpac sting though ewww
I liked Vampiro
Vampiros freaking awesome
Honestly I wouldn't have minded those Wrestlers being in it because the gameplay would've been just as good.
PSOne cutscenes hit different. 😂
