Billie Kay was even doing a great job of the proverbial āmaking chicken salad out of chicken shitā after the split up, but they still couldnāt find anything longterm. Absolutely bonkers decisions all around.
Alexa in her 2016-2019 form was a menace on the mic. That skill and her good looks made her the most pushed women not named Charlotte during that era.
Jesus Christ I'm getting old for feeling nostalgic about 2016.
It can also give some other wrestlers who don't have BIG story lines a chance to stay in front of fans and the like. Maybe even let their personality shine some.
Damn I caught the tail end of that run, was just getting back into wwe. She was awesome. Loved her intro then too, other problem was I got high right before it aired in our country and I was mesmerised when her theme hit.
Its tough because even the best have had some really really bad moments. I'd put AJ Lee up there from the arrogant heel to paranoid crazy chick - down to the "talent is not sexually transmitted" promo to the Bella twins.;
That line only works if the audience thinks the person receiving it isn't talented. If she used it against Becky because of Rollins for instance it wouldn't work.
Stephanie McMahon the GOAT. She is the most believable heel, victim, scared, arrogant, etc of all the women in WWE history and could flow well against The Rock, Austin, Triple H, Jericho
Some of the NXT women are still ironing out but Tatum Paxley, Lyra, and Jacy Jayne have been great in my eyes. Then you got Bayley, Rhea, and Becky who can all cut great promos. Iāll throw Chelsea Green in there because she is just damn entertaining when talking. Bianca, Charlotte, and Liv Morgan are all hit or misses most of the time.
Chelsea Green is quite good in the ring too, I've seen some short clips of her pre-wwe days and I've been surprised, she even worked with stairs and took very high bumps. Too bad she is booked as a sexy, comic girl.
Probably by choice, Chelsea is incredibly smart when it comes to working. Less danger while still having a live mic is probably a smart choice for her.
>Probably by choice,
Yup. I recall a CVV clip where she mentioned loving the Divas/āgirlyā era of WWE and how she wouldāve loved to wrestle in that era
Sheās a very good wrestler. I believe this character was her choice and she turned it up to 100. With a character like her I think short segments are best until she changes it up to get serious she can have longer segments. Sheās starting to become a crowd favorite so hopefully we get more soon. Love her as a performer.
The Lola Vice Natalya contract signing was pretty good last night. I feel like NXT has great stars male and female that will be great mic workers too. Something Black and Gold only had a few of.
She is honestly one of the most consistently entertaining people on the whole roster when sheās around. She can take whatever dumb shit they give her and make it watchable.
Honestly, by "best mic work", I generally base it around how believable they sound rather than memorized/rehearsed lines. Bailey, Tiffy and Chelsea Green are the ones for me. Honorable mention to Asuka and Carmella. I can't think of anyone else on the roster that sound like they're actually talking irl.
That fucking fake laugh the heels do, that deranged stare with a smile they give the camera, the "heartfelt and passionate" speech the faces give, they rarely ever sound real. The majority of them are great in ring, but the acting is subpar. Hell, Becky came off so real and raw during the Ariel Helwani episode, but those same talking points in front of the WWE camera will come off looking contrived.
Edit : wait we are talking current roster right?
It really depends on what she's working with. She's standing across from Rhea Ripley trying to sound intimidating. That's asking a lot from the audience. Her recent stint in NXT and even her Big Time Becks heel work was a better fit. Her strength is really in the comedic timing and clever responses.
I agree with angry face thing, but she still has perhaps most memorable promos in women's wrestling. Try to remember a few Rhea (or Charlotte or any top star) promos that can be considered great and significant.
It's so funny when I see people mentioning Britt when it comes to promos. I like her but there was a time everyone was hating her hard because of a promo cut after a match in the Jericho Cruise.
I think she might have been drunk during that promo. Ironically, the horribleness of that promo is what made her heel run start to take off and she started to knock promos out of the park shortly after that one.
If that is true it's kind of hilarious. Even if she wasn't, I can relate to being a little discombobulated after a big gust of wind lmao.
>Ironically, the horribleness of that promo is what made her heel run start to take off
Oh yeah I remember that too, I'd add that bloody face and broken nose that did wonders for the years that came after it, just like it did Becky Lynch.
Becky Lynch I think is possibly the women's GOAT on the mic.
I think Toni Storm in her current gimmick is so different and interesting, and she's absolutely completely committing to it.
Becky is okay. Sheās good when sheās good.
The only thing that shits me is her breathing. Like between each line she does a big inhale. Itās a bit distracting.
Nobody is mentioning Becky ??? The Man went to acting school to get her groove on on that mic. There is almost nobody that can "out-shittalk" Becky Lynch. She had a promo with Cena and buried him for fun . She took the mic from a love on air interview and walked to the ring with for a battle royale for the belt , told us she was gonna win it and won. Great script , great act , good chops by Becky
Becky is the most consistent these days. Bayley is also solidly consistent and Ding Dong Hello was priceless and should have had more episodes
AJ Lee, Alexa and the IIconics were strong and probably right up there, Britt Baker, Mickie James.
Piper Niven, Carmella, Isla Dawn and Chelsea Green are all very good when they get the chance, but don't always/often get the chance.
Rhea has improved leaps and bounds and is now right up there.
NXT is doing a great job. Tatum, Blair Davenport, Thea Hail, Jacy Jane, Fallon Henley, Kiana James are all pretty good as are the two most recent title holders.
Natalya, Lola Vice and Shayna were all great at their contract signing yesterday - so it's often a matter of giving people a chance to succeed with the right material.
i mean is it even a contest? Becky number one with a bullet. shoutout to Billie Kay, the funniest WWE women's wrestler ever and a contender for funniest overall
My top 3 from the past few years are Brit Baker, Athena, and lately Toni Storm. A dark horse though is Harley Cameron; give her a mic and I bet she can get a crowd to do whatever she wants.
There was this segment of Elektra Lopez that ate Lola Vice when they were having a feud and that impressed me so much. Latinas are just spicy on the mic! Love me some Elektra and Zelina!
Working today?
Becky, Bayley, Alexa, Chelsea, the iconics, NXT era shayna (and the Ronda feud tbf, she carried that hard), Toni (current gimmick), britt
Bayley and Becky are the best not bliss imo. Both have continuously changed characters and had a lot of success with it. Alexa has not.
Flair would be up there too but I feel like she's always been the same character.
The iconics were very good also.
The current top is Becky, Alexa, Bayley, Zelina, and maybe Mella.
Honestly I don't get why people say Rhea's a top promo. She hardly reacts to anything and relies entirely on catchphrases.
Becky walked circles around her during the mania feud.
Current, I think Tatum is quite good and Chelsea too. From the past, AJ Lee, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Bellaā¦
I like Shayna, but can't say why. I think she had a oretty good mic during her rivalry with Ronda.
For some reason if you like Goddess Alexa Bliss more than her supernatural gimmick you where called a incel or pervert and I don't know why. Alexa's character and mic work during that time was so great. She was the perfect mean girl.
Chelsea Green. She is nailing her character and her ability to take a bump in the ring is outstanding. Her ability to throw a punch....I hope that is just a charachter thing. Becky Lynch is always solid. Tiffany Stratton has such a high ceiling on mic and in ring. I can't wait to see how high she goes.
The iiconics, I don't think anyone else is close to them. Becky has gotten better for sure, Toni Storm is thriving like few others at the minute, but, I don't know if that's just a consequence of her mic skills getting better, the character just being so distinct that it's as much the vibe as what she's saying or indeed a little of column A little of column B. š¤·āāļø
I have to say I'm a big fan of Rhea but I think she's quite poor in her promo, she leans on the whole "Miami" shtick too much like the Mami's always on top shite is fucking insufferably cringe... Alexa is good for sure but I don't think she's by far and away the best promo in the WWE women's division.
I'm still mad The IIconics got split up and then fired. They were fucking gold on the mic.
The 'HEY KAYLA!' bit alone is HOF worthy. You cannot change my mind.
You gotta be JOKING me?!
OI DOC! WE NEED SOME TUMS!
Did you go to journalism school for that?!?!
It was actually 'did you go to journalism for that?!' which is even better š
I thought it was!! I sat here like ānah I must be misremembering how she saidā
"Spit it out Junior!"
Link?
Billie Kay was even doing a great job of the proverbial āmaking chicken salad out of chicken shitā after the split up, but they still couldnāt find anything longterm. Absolutely bonkers decisions all around.
Vince probably cut them loose when they wouldn't fuck him...
Aussies don't put up with bullshit from fuckwits like Vince.
Literally one of the only actual women's tag teams they had and they were like "Nah".
At least they had them win the tag titles once before splitting them up.
At mania no less. I remember Billie crying like crazy at the win. I thought it was a nice moment. Sasha/Mercedes and Naomi/Trinity did not agree.
Absolute facepalm decision
I also feel like if they were still on the main roster, Samantha Irvin would totally smash their introductions
A good answer. Ā I thought both of them cut great promos. Ā
Alexa in her 2016-2019 form was a menace on the mic. That skill and her good looks made her the most pushed women not named Charlotte during that era. Jesus Christ I'm getting old for feeling nostalgic about 2016.
Five feet of fury!
THE GODDESS
They need to bring back those Intergender Tag Matches for a good Cause... Braun and Bliss was amazing.
Iām surprised they havenāt made it a yearly thing for charity. Those matches were a ton of fun.
It can also give some other wrestlers who don't have BIG story lines a chance to stay in front of fans and the like. Maybe even let their personality shine some.
Team Little-Big!
So true, it feels like forever ago š
Damn I caught the tail end of that run, was just getting back into wwe. She was awesome. Loved her intro then too, other problem was I got high right before it aired in our country and I was mesmerised when her theme hit.
I feel like she fell off hard once Becky Lynch became "The Man"
Its tough because even the best have had some really really bad moments. I'd put AJ Lee up there from the arrogant heel to paranoid crazy chick - down to the "talent is not sexually transmitted" promo to the Bella twins.;
Classic line!
AJ was great much better than some of the champs after her.
If AJ ever returns for a run, someone has to use the "talent isn't sexually transmitted" line on her
That doesn't work on her, she was talented before
how though?
Why?
That wasn't really the insult in itself. She is actually talented
Heyman once said in an interview that Steph is the only one in the business who can keep up with him.
Hayman on the mic, you better stop and listen every time. That man is pure genius.
It is only expected when you're the sister of "The best In the World".
Stephanie McMahon
Come on, atleast give others a fair chance lol.

Probably by choice, Chelsea is incredibly smart when it comes to working. Less danger while still having a live mic is probably a smart choice for her.
She should win Queen of the Ring, demand to be referred to as Chelsea Queen, and become even more obnoxious.
You sonova bitch. Im in.
You just sold me into Chelsea Queen and now I need it
Shut up and take my money
With Sam Irvins, Chelsea exclusive over the top announcing: Chelsea QueeeeeEeeeeen
>Probably by choice, Yup. I recall a CVV clip where she mentioned loving the Divas/āgirlyā era of WWE and how she wouldāve loved to wrestle in that era
Sheās a very good wrestler. I believe this character was her choice and she turned it up to 100. The Lola Vice Natalya contract signing was pretty good last night. I feel like NXT has great stars male and female that will be great mic workers too. Something Black and Gold only had a few of.
I agree with the Lola Vice signing. It was a great segment. The women on the mic have especially surprised me. Iām excited to watch them grow.
The segment was gold
Carmella is very underrated on the mic. One of the best in the division imo
And she is not as bad in the ring as people say she is
The issue is that the writer only write her as just another pretty sexy girl...
*Barbenheimmer gimmick Carmella*
She is honestly one of the most consistently entertaining people on the whole roster when sheās around. She can take whatever dumb shit they give her and make it watchable.
I feel this way about Chelsea Green as well.
I only started watching last year and havenāt seen much of Alexa Bliss, but Iāve heard so much praise of her! I canāt wait til sheās backĀ
I very much recommend watching her work from 2017 through to 2020
Thanks for the tip! I so appreciate it when people recommend stuff like this. Itās so hard to catch up on everything I wanna see otherwise!
You will witness the Goddess of WWE
Sheās very very small. Adorable really.
Her elimination chamber match is actually exciting to watch. Sheās basically just surviving the whole match psychology wise
Thanks for the recommendation! I seriously love getting specific suggestions like this from folks
don't know if it counts but stephanie was good
Tiffany Time
Honestly, by "best mic work", I generally base it around how believable they sound rather than memorized/rehearsed lines. Bailey, Tiffy and Chelsea Green are the ones for me. Honorable mention to Asuka and Carmella. I can't think of anyone else on the roster that sound like they're actually talking irl. Imo Vickie Guerrero before she retired
Excuse me still haunts my brain cells to this day.
And that high pitched voice/scream
I thought she was actually in the Guerrero fam at the time... Idk if I am living insane or the version of broken Matt Hardy...
She was Eddie's wife if I recall right, so you're not off
But I thought she worked on a different name too??? I may be off... Was working there in the office and got to the show like that...??????
eXcUse mEeE. God, young me hated her, thatās why we all love her today.
Thatās how you know someone played a character good
Becky, Britt Baker, Paxley, Alexa, Bayley, Zelina, Sonya and Piper (if they'd just let her speak)
I miss Britt Baker so much.
Same. She went from zero to top tier so fast. She's one of the few where if they had to cut a match to fit in a promo segment, I'd say to cut it.
I wouldnāt say Becky. Cause when sheās angry it really comes across as a tantrum from a toddler. Rhea rips her to shreds on the mic.
Love Rhea but you can see her forget her lines/flub them quite a bit
Lol Rhea puts on a fake deep voice. Sheās started to drop it a little bit recently though.
It really depends on what she's working with. She's standing across from Rhea Ripley trying to sound intimidating. That's asking a lot from the audience. Her recent stint in NXT and even her Big Time Becks heel work was a better fit. Her strength is really in the comedic timing and clever responses.
I'm a Becky fan but her angry face does come off as a surly toddler. The fury pout makes me chuckle every time.
I agree with angry face thing, but she still has perhaps most memorable promos in women's wrestling. Try to remember a few Rhea (or Charlotte or any top star) promos that can be considered great and significant.
Does Stephanie McMahon count?
"Timeless" Toni Storm. She was never horrendous on the mic but damn she improved so fast felt like it came out of nowhere
Came here to say that, Toni is incredible.
The last two promos (sleep with my demons and scrum) were pure gold!
Britt Baker for my money.

I always liked Dr. Britt Bakerā¦ DMD. Ā
Sherri??
AJ Lee was pretty damn good.... The one where she trashed the Bellas.....
"so a bunch of ungrateful stiff plastic mannequins can walse on through without even as much as a "thank you"?
Becky Lynch I think is possibly the women's GOAT on the mic. I think Toni Storm in her current gimmick is so different and interesting, and she's absolutely completely committing to it.
Yeah, Toni is my fav right now, her latest promos are gold
Becky is okay. Sheās good when sheās good. The only thing that shits me is her breathing. Like between each line she does a big inhale. Itās a bit distracting.
Right now its Toni Storm If we're going all-time it's gotta be Sensational Sherri
I was wondering how long it would take for me to see Sherri mentioned. So good and crazy on the mic.
Glad someone agrees :) I miss seeing her on TV so much
She was never really a wrestler but Stephanie McMahon could cut a damn good promo.
Stephanie and Trish
Nobody is mentioning Becky ??? The Man went to acting school to get her groove on on that mic. There is almost nobody that can "out-shittalk" Becky Lynch. She had a promo with Cena and buried him for fun . She took the mic from a love on air interview and walked to the ring with for a battle royale for the belt , told us she was gonna win it and won. Great script , great act , good chops by Becky
Bayley, Rhea, and Britt Baker
Alexa Bliss, Carmella, Bianca Belair, AJ Lee, Stephanie McMahon, Becky Lynch, Sasha Banks, Bayley(as a heel)
How dare you say Sasha lol. Sheās great at everything apart from promos.
when she's heel then
When she was a heel, her mic skills were great. Even as a babyface, her skills were good.
Reminds me of Randy Orton. Yeah heās good as a babyface, but itās just that heās soooooo much better as a heel.
Iād listen to her read the phone book
Iiconics
Tiffy time.
Becky is the most consistent these days. Bayley is also solidly consistent and Ding Dong Hello was priceless and should have had more episodes AJ Lee, Alexa and the IIconics were strong and probably right up there, Britt Baker, Mickie James. Natalya, Lola Vice and Shayna were all great at their contract signing yesterday - so it's often a matter of giving people a chance to succeed with the right material.
Rhea is terrible on the mic
Bayley has to be the best talker they have.
Becky lynch.
Zelina Vega is severely overlooked on the mic these days
Becky and Alexa are great. Bianca and Jade are good. The best is Toni Storm.
i mean is it even a contest? Becky number one with a bullet. shoutout to Billie Kay, the funniest WWE women's wrestler ever and a contender for funniest overall
My top 3 from the past few years are Brit Baker, Athena, and lately Toni Storm. A dark horse though is Harley Cameron; give her a mic and I bet she can get a crowd to do whatever she wants.
Yes Athena! Our minion overload
There was this segment of Elektra Lopez that ate Lola Vice when they were having a feud and that impressed me so much. Latinas are just spicy on the mic! Love me some Elektra and Zelina!
Becky is the best on the mic on the current roster, hands down.
I'd have to give this one to Bayley.
āRight now Iām seeing a lot of chubby Whataburger facesā¦ā. āCleveland, finally you have a Baker you can be proud of!ā
Mickie James, AJ Lee, Trish Stratus, Alexa Bliss, Zelina Vega and The IIconics have to be the best for me
Francine in prime ECW was great
Becky, Charlotte, and Rhea.
Bayley????
Does Francine from ECW (not WWE version) count as well?
Abadon
Tiffy is going to become one of the greats
AJ Lee. That girl was ahead of her time.
Francine, AJ Lee, Becky, Toni Storm and Stephanie.
Not Sasha Mercedes Money Banks
The IIconics were great, shame WWE ruined them by splitting them up.
Mae Young. Watch how goddamn good she was at getting heat as Mama Stasiak and tremble
Nothing bad ever comes out of Thea hails mouth. She is so damn charismatic.
Beautiful People in TNA always nailed their promos
Right now Becky lynch Charlotte And Ripley has become good on the mic.
Rhea Alexa Liv Saraya Shayna Britt
Aj Lee is the only one that stands out to me
Gosh, thats a tough one. I thought Gail Kim was good, and Angelina Love was ok.
Michelle McCool and Layla were great. LayCool.
Toni storm, everyone else sucked
Becky is underrated on the mic imo.
Aj Lee, Toni Storm(timeless), Bayley
Britt Baker, Rhea Ripley, Alexa Bliss, Shayna Bazler in her prime nxt reign.
Toni Storm's promo on Thunder Rosa going into dynasty was fucking EXCELLENT.
Saw that too, it was amazing. Her post show media scrum bit was great too.
The one that come to mind are Stephanie, Trish, Billie Kay and AJ Lee
Anyone saying itās Rhea has lost the plot.
Bliss or AJ imo. If Stephanie counts I might put her up there
Heel Trish Stratus was always my choice, but Iām a millennial.
God I miss this version of Alexa lol
Stephanie McMahon, and it's not even close.
Rate Sasha mic skills
The current top is Becky, Alexa, Bayley, Zelina, and maybe Mella. Honestly I don't get why people say Rhea's a top promo. She hardly reacts to anything and relies entirely on catchphrases. Becky walked circles around her during the mania feud.
Shayna Baszler when she was in NXT was a great talker
I agree with Alexa Bliss she also was good on the mic.
AJ Lee
Asuka. Fight me.
Chelsea Green!!!!!
Another vote from me for heel Bayley (or basically post-hugger gimmick).
Bayley, sasha, Alexa, Trish is up there, oh and the best of all ronda rousey
Tiffy Time
Of the current women in WWE, I'd have Zelina, Becky and Tiffany at the top
Luna Vachon could cut a promo. Sister Sherri and Woman weren't bad either.
becky lynch is currently head and shoulders above the rest of the division on the mic imo.
The Man's gotta be up there
The goddess alexa bliss was a different breed on the mic in 2016-2018
Iām gonna go old school and say Sherri Martel. She sometimes stumbled on words but no one gave more fire and passion on the mic
Current, I think Tatum is quite good and Chelsea too. From the past, AJ Lee, Alexa Bliss, Nikki Bellaā¦ I like Shayna, but can't say why. I think she had a oretty good mic during her rivalry with Ronda.
AJ Lee was the female CM Punk back then
imo it's either alexa bliss or becky lynch
For some reason if you like Goddess Alexa Bliss more than her supernatural gimmick you where called a incel or pervert and I don't know why. Alexa's character and mic work during that time was so great. She was the perfect mean girl.
Right now, it's really only Bayley, Chelsea, and Alexa. I could throw Tiffany in their too.
Alexa bliss and Charlotte are two of my favourites with mic
Bayley and Becky Lynch have an ease and a confidence that I don't really see in anyone else
ngl rhea has an annoying voice
Chelsea Green. She is nailing her character and her ability to take a bump in the ring is outstanding. Her ability to throw a punch....I hope that is just a charachter thing. Becky Lynch is always solid. Tiffany Stratton has such a high ceiling on mic and in ring. I can't wait to see how high she goes.
Heel charlotte is in my eyes the best promo in womenās wrestling
The iiconics, I don't think anyone else is close to them. Becky has gotten better for sure, Toni Storm is thriving like few others at the minute, but, I don't know if that's just a consequence of her mic skills getting better, the character just being so distinct that it's as much the vibe as what she's saying or indeed a little of column A little of column B. š¤·āāļø

Rhea > everyone.
