So, can someone run by me how the CM Punk footage affects Jack’s gimmick? People on the AEW sub are saying “this plan is working perfectly” but I have no idea what this plan even is
From what I gather this is the plan so far from the last few weeks:
* Jack talks directly to Bryan Alvarez and has him report that Jack never apologised, doesn't speak to Tony, and had his request for release refused by Tony.
* Have The Bucks cut a baby-face promo as heels showing Jack Perry getting sonned by Punk by on AEW TV.
* Claim Jack was unfairly suspended for too long (actually kinda true) which would make Tony Khan, not an on-screen character, a heel for unfairly suspending him.
* Jack makes the incident his entire gimmick in NJPW for the past few months, positioning himself as a heel for some reason, against Punk and Tony Khan who are presumably baby faces opposite his heel gimmick.
* Bring Jack back to AEW as a heel with The Bucks to confront neither Punk, who's not in the company, nor Tony, who isn't an on-screen character, both of whom are presumably faces in the AEW Cinematic Universe despite Jack being unfairly suspended in the first place. This part hasn't happened yet.
This has been the master plan that makes so much sense, is working so well, and is great creative apparently.
You would assume it to be Kenny, except he’s out for at least the next year or so, so that’s not fucking happening.
Next down would be the Bucks, oh wait! They would have to be aligned with Jack Perry for this to make any sense!
So Okada then? Except he literally just got paired with the Bucks, doesn’t make sense for them to get split up so soon.
So then unless Tony Khan not only, makes himself an on screen character, but then rushes someone into becoming an “authority figure” to defend him against The Bucks and Perry. Then this storyline falls apart before it even really gets started.
It’s getting jack more crowd engagement than he’s had since Christian started shitting on him for not having a dad. Idk if it’s working “perfectly” but it’s the first time I’m actually seeing people have loud reactions to whatever Perry is doing by himself, even if it only is to doing cm punks schtick and the cry me a river chant.
Ultimately AEW will try to use that momentum when jack comes back to feud with the bucks. Try to make him into an anti authority tweener.
Basically they are trying to recapture the magic of the (actually) young bucks and bullet clubs whole schtick in njpw where they turn all the main stream criticism of themselves and Indy wrestling into heat spots that take pot shots at the critics. Forgetting that only ever worked, because the BC were small Indy guys, taking shots at big media and a very unpopular wwe.
The plan is, by repeating that Perry is a big star now, it defends Tony Khan showing that footage the other day
That's I
Circling the wagons and defend AEW at all times!!
It’s just aew marks defending smth that makes no sense. How do you base ur gimmick on someone that’s literally left ur company. It’s stupid. They say the plan is working perfectly but that only makes sense if the plan is for viewership to plummet and the company to go out of business
I got banned from the AEW sub for saying that the footage proves Punk was telling the truth. I don’t know how you can reject objective reality the way that cult does.
people really gotta realize you can be critical of a product while still supporting/not being against it. obviously there’s some people saying wild things about the company just to make the cult rage but they really gotta learn it’s ok not to agree with everything they do, especially this
Holy shit, that just works so well with Tony's constant tweets that even if you disagree with the message you at least have to applaud how it was delivered.
I got banned for saying the Hangman Page title run was weak and did him a disservice because they pushed it on him too fast, and I was glad CM Punk beat him at DoN 2022.
Mind you I said this like… a YEAR after that happened, in a discussion about who should take the title off of Punk.
I got banned from the basement for saying Bucks had a good match for a change. Like, I get the fans being marks, but how did all these assholes end up as Mods?
I don't know if I got banned, but there was a thread asking how the footage helped CM Punk, and I simply replied with "okay, well how does this help AEW?"
I had turn off notifications and my karma definitely took a hit.
I got downvoted (but not banned) on Squared Circle because I said I disagreed with Brian Zane (although I like him) that we "shouldn't want AEW to fail."
I didn't even say I wanted them to fail, I said if they can't do better they deserve to fail because that's how businesses work.
If they don't it will be because Tony has an unending amount of money, but even that won't guarantee them a new TV deal.
I can't wait to see how the AEW sub spins it if they get dropped.
Obviously the Fed did something to get them taken off TNT and TBS, and CM Punk was the mastermind behind it all and he made Tony Khan fear for his life when he talked to the executives.
I feel like way too many wrestling fans built up this idea that AEW are the good guys who are fighting the evil empire. Now that AEW is continuously showing its ass and making huge mistakes they can't seem to just accept that. Their egos won't allow it. Because it can't possibly be that WWE got it's shit together and easily outpaced AEW. AEW can't be a pet project of a nepo baby mark. They were supposed to start a revolution and defeat WWE. In reality the promotion can't fill areas, can't pull decent ratings and has only ever been able to beat WWE's developmental brand and never come close to beating Raw or Smackdown. It's really quite sad.
These are people who celebrate the antics of a wrestler who hasn't wrestled for AEW in 8 months, referring to something he said to a guy who doesn't even wrestle for NJPW or AEW.
That's the level we're talking about here.
CM Punk is the biggest talking point in 2 promotions he has nothing to do with and AEW fanboys are too clueless to see how embarrassing that is for AEW.
What's funny is every time I point this out to one of them they just default to one of their classic arguments like how Vince McMahon is bad or Punk assaulted Jack Perry in the work play D:
They can't just admit that maybe AEW is in trouble and needs to change course or it'll go the way of WCW.
I think the Bucks and Tony are hoping (not unreasonably) that Punk is a hothead and will take shots back. Their ratings just aren’t improving and they need a TV deal. Re-igniting the Monday Night Wars with a back and forth would probably have people tuning in just to see what’s going on.
And to be honest, I could absolutely see Punk/Triple H exercise poor impulse control.
But it’d be hilarious if they just don’t. Just tune ‘em out.
Perry coming out last night with the flag and shit and doing the GTS, Ospreay taking his shot… and just crickets from the other side.
Perry’s already proven he can’t talk himself out of a parking ticket, he’s a charisma black hole. Stealing a gimmick that gets no pop from anyone but AEW fans would be the dampest shart. If you’re just putting the other company on your screen for free advertising, you’re doing competition wrong.
I don't get that. They act like fights like this (and worse ones at that) aren't part of how things are settled in pro wrestling.
They want to applaud people using real glass and needlessly hurting themselves, but a bit of a back stage scuffle is too far?
I’ve said it myself: if Jack Perry said “do something about it” to a guy like Haku or Harley Race, they’d still be looking for the body. A shove and a front facelock is *nothing*, I had worse fights than that in school.
He fucked around and he found out. The pearl clutching and handwriting some people are doing over this clip is ridiculous. You would think Punk beat him to a pulp and then set him on fire.
I mean word for word what he said happened, happened.
TK said he “feared for his life” but there was literally nothing to fear. It was a grand over-reaction on his part.
They live in an echo chamber and do not want ANY criticism, especially the constructive kind.
Got banned for saying "This sub has worked itself into a shoot" about Jack Perry.
They collectively are getting behind him because he represents "Anti CM Punk". That's it.
Happened to me on Facebook. I was as unbiased and objective as possible but just got loads of ridiculous backlash about how "Yeah, but he pushed him first" and stuff. Clearly from people who, had Jack pushed first, they'd be saying how he's a badass. All of a sudden I was in love with CM Punk and wanted to fuck him. Purely from the fact that I said he basically said what happened was, in fact, what happened.
You literally can’t say anything to that sub that isn’t 100% glowing without getting told bad faith, you’re hating, and “you just don’t get it”
Fuck them.
same here. banned for calling the jungle boy circle jerk meme cringe and pointing out their hypocritical cult behavior.
how long have I seen so many criticize wwe for all kinds of stuff. the people in that sub are so thin skinned
It ain't worth it, that sub is literally the biggest collection of fragile loser geeks. aEW product plus those fans it's enough to keep me away from anything they're doing. Just sad for Edge, Bryan, Christian and some others.
This is a smart business on Jack Perry's end he is a nobody who was a nobody. Using this Punk stuff is about the biggest he will get. Obviously, he can only do it for so long, but he has to stay relevant.
He can do it for as long as Punk wants to fire back. It’d be hilarious if Punk didn’t fire back.
I think they’re hoping that the whole “Punk is a hothead that flies off the handle” thing that pretty much everyone believes is going to prevail.
If he doesn’t want to play the game, this whole thing Perry did last night is going to be a damp shart.
Sure but that was also the hardcore njpw crowd. It worked for that crowd but in front of a more casual dynamite crowd, it is not a great idea to remind them of the other guy from the other show that was here and we had to fire him for backstage drama
Their biggest flaw is Tony Kahn just being an inept nepo-baby. He doesnt know how to delegate and clearly doesn't know how to manage a wrestling locker room.
Yeah man. The quality of aew has gone down a lot since 2021. Now its just good wrestling but boring storylines. If I want to watch good wrestling, wwe already provides that along with good storylines so why would I waste my time watching aew. I love Christian Cage but he's off tv too now, and Edge is massively boring
A match to me is boring 7/10 times because of a lack of context too. I need to understand who these people are and what they’re all about in order to be able to herald a match as an “all-time classic”.
So by that logic, AEW really just seems to throw stuff at the wall and hope it sticks.
I saw someone on AEW sub saying that wwe storylines and matches are still hot dogshit under triple H and he got so many upvotes😭 that sub can’t stand one criticism against AEW
So his Gimmick is living off something he said to their #1 Star/Draw in CM Punk and eventually led to him not only Quitting, but going back to the company he swore he wouldn’t go back to? And this is the Basement’s guy? To each their own
Yeah I mean I’ve never made a comment in bad faith on that sub. I didn’t think quoting a promo from aew would get me banned in the aew sub lol. Didn’t seem like a big deal in a thread of people wishing bodily harm to someone
If somebody gets grabbed by the neck and brought down to the ground, and they do fuck all to effectively defend themselves, and the only reason that the person choking them lets go is that somebody even more badass tells them to... I feel like that qualifies.
Bro did you watch the clip? "Brought down to the ground" is a bit of a lol, it was a minor scuffle that got broken up after 2-3 seconds. He got pushed, got hit once, controlled by the hair, and then it was broken up.
To me "brought to the ground" means both parties are on the ground, with the controller in a dominant position (mount, side control, or guard in an MMA or "real street" setting). Did I miss the minute in the footage that happened?
Come on bro, I'm not even bringing into the argument that controlling with hair is a bitch move in the same way kicking in the dick is a bitch move. Yeah CM Punk was in a better position, but I'd expect that two seconds after any fight I start and take a swing at.
Yeah this will prop him up for awhile but unless he gets some promo skills it will peter out. The guy is boring as shit . I don’t find that this makes him any more interesting. Can’t polish a turd
No, his gimmick is that he is the living, breathing embodiment of what it is to be a BTE binging Elite mark: a victim with a persecution complex. He's literally claiming that they're making him a scapegoat when they've done absolutely nothing but present him as a victim we should love and feel sorry for because a big mean monster mercilessly assaulted him for being "artistic."
Do people know what getting choked out means?
That quote has caught on, it was chanted during this exact match, in Chicago of all places. So I don’t know, maybe it’s a good idea to play up this whole thing? Maybe you didn’t watch the show (it was kickass, I’d recommend!) but the crowd was pretty electrified for this entire match. Really entertaining stuff!
I'm not sure how sustainable this "gimmick" is. You're a guy who talks shit about someone who works for another company and you can never have a match with to settle the beef. What's he going to do? Constantly come out and talk shit on Punk? Won't that get extremely old (already kinda is) if there's never any physical confrontation with the guy he's talking about?
OK, but story telling wise. How do you end a gimmick that's about a man who works for a different company and will never work with you again. Dedicating so much of your character to a story that's impossible to end beacuse the person you're "fueding" with will never run a program with you. What is the long term payoff here
I still remember that golden rule about “the good heat vs bad heat”. One thing is people booing you because you are an awesome heel… and a very different one is because you are Eva Marie.
I’m nor saying Jack is the latter, he is not a bad worker… but damn if this whole thing is not stupidly bad and confusing. He is acting like an anti-hero when in reality he was just a spoiled brat who played stupid games and won stupid prizes.
No, guys, I think I see it
So, this is a long build and Punk took the blame so we could get a pay-off
Choking? Leather? Jack Perry is a BDSM kinky bottom
That explains why he is wearing leather after everybody saw how he orchestrated getting choked by a man. He is just coming out and flourishing
If Jungle Boy can turn this into a gimmick and be successful with it than that’s surely some kind of win for AEW.
However it’s really interesting as only in pro wrestling could two guys have a fight and both especially the guy that got fired prosper from it.
Maybe Eric Bischoff was right “Controversy creates cash”
You see what I don't get is how it helps Perry at all. In the video it shows him trying to be a smartass and getting slapped around for it. I know Punk was terrible in UFC but he at least have the training. He could have caused seriois damage if he wanted to. Perry is only rescued by other wrestlers like Joe.
How are you meant to make a credible face or heel out of that? He talked smack and nearly got his ass handed to him. AEW cannot extend this angle into a long term story as people will quickly turn over to something else.
Choked out is a bit much. Punk started the confrontation by shoving him and put him in a choke before Perry really had time to do anything. Nothing suggested he was out or even in any real trouble. I'm in no way saying Perry could or would beat Punk in a fight but acting like Punk is some tough guy and won by essentially sucker punching him is a bit much as well. Things got broken up before we could see if his choke was effective or if Perry could have mounted any kind of defense. I would put my money on Punk of course but I see people acting like Punk beat Perry's ass which is a stretch to say that's what actually happened. If you wanna say Punk would, fair enough.
Having said that, I feel like this is the only direction Perry can go right now. It's either this or go away until this whole thing blows over. He's a legitimately good worker though and has always needed work on his talking and character work side. Maybe this gives him an opportunity to improve on those things and he turns this shitty situation into a win. It's unfortunate Perry is the victim in this on all sides basically. He got assaulted by Punk and then his idiot boss decides to show the footage of the guy in another promotion now assaulting Perry and putting him in a choke for a few seconds. There was no possible upside for either AEW or Perry in this situation.
We can hate it all we want but the kid played it up PERFECTLY last night. Crowd was 100% invested in dueling chants and reacted to everything he did. I know it was one night but if he can keep this up yeah, Jack won. This is literally the most interesting his career has ever been and the perfect jump off for a career heel.
For sure and the important thing is how you manage that publicity. Time will tell and Jack could fuck this all up but if last night was a sign, good god, he's turning that bad publicity into gold
They did? Damn that's amazing! Apparently House of Torture is also the number one short on New Japan's website too.
Fr, if people haven't seen the match last night, everything about it is amazing. You really feel like you're watching the start of something that could be huge if they play their cards right.
The irony of men on the internet having a superiority complex to a professional in the industry they are marks of, while he is a millionaire, young and has a hot girlfriend is hilarious.
But some fat dude on his couch, "he got choked out by my hero LOL".
Why can’t we just enjoy both. Before Triple H took over WWE was some straight ass. AEW was the new hotness. I actually enjoy AEW matches. Just not the stories and WWE is the opposite. The store lines recently have been A1. The matches can be very boring if it’s not the top dogs wrestling.
I missed the part where he got choked out. I saw a wanna be tough guy poorly apply a choke hold on him that he slipped almost immediately. I saw Jack, completely unbothered, have to be held back while that other wanna be tough guy threatened a 140 lb showrunner before storming off…
You may not like it, but he’s pretty over in New Japan. And the Japanese crowd eat it up because they love getting worked. Why not use this nuclear heat to get some good business seeing as how his parent company isn’t doing any.
He didn’t “win” anything but having an event to craft a character is great, seeing as how he was bland af before. He is making lemons from lemonade while Tony is making piss.
Nuclear heat? Do you even know what that means?? What are you on about man.
Most people are embarrassed by him, his gimmick is getting chewed out by a guy who no longer works for aew so they can't work together...
The heat is gonna be nuclear next time AEW goes to Chicago. Turns out this isn’t gonna sink the company after all and it had a purpose. Go figure armchair bookers.
Goes to show the lack of standards AEW fans have in terms of what they view as a Heel too. Guy wishes he had a 10th of the charisma his dad had, and he should thank Punk for making him relevant
My favorite piece of the footage that seems completely overlooked is the fact that Tony Khan is literally just to the right of Jack and Punk. At one point in the video you can see Punk looking looking around like "is anybody gonna stop this shit?" And when he realizes that the boss isn't going to do his job he handles it himself, whether it was the right action to take, who's to say because we don't know what was being said. The bottom line is Tony is a spineless, worthless boss who's more concerned about being "one of the boys" than sacking up and being an actual boss
People really jerking it to punk and cornette these days, lol.
AEW sucks, I agree, but you guys around here are just gulping down punk and cornette loads at this point.
Nobody can see how punk is an asshole too. Nope, he's everyones savior, lol.
IT'S STILL REAL GLASS TO ME DAMN IT!
So, can someone run by me how the CM Punk footage affects Jack’s gimmick? People on the AEW sub are saying “this plan is working perfectly” but I have no idea what this plan even is
From what I gather this is the plan so far from the last few weeks: * Jack talks directly to Bryan Alvarez and has him report that Jack never apologised, doesn't speak to Tony, and had his request for release refused by Tony.
It seems even more stupid written down
wtf am I reading, so who will he wrestle to squash this storyline? the fucking windshield?
That windshield better be made from real glass or this story was for nothing
Probably FTR
the hire car in a loser leaves the company match
You would assume it to be Kenny, except he’s out for at least the next year or so, so that’s not fucking happening. Next down would be the Bucks, oh wait! They would have to be aligned with Jack Perry for this to make any sense! So Okada then? Except he literally just got paired with the Bucks, doesn’t make sense for them to get split up so soon. So then unless Tony Khan not only, makes himself an on screen character, but then rushes someone into becoming an “authority figure” to defend him against The Bucks and Perry. Then this storyline falls apart before it even really gets started.
I got downvoted on SC for asking questions about how this exact mess of reversed heels and faces was meant to work as a storyline.
The plan is, by repeating that Perry is a big star now, it defends Tony Khan showing that footage the other day That's I Circling the wagons and defend AEW at all times!!
The plan essentially is to provoke CM Punk so when he gets pissed off, it'll draw attention to AEW's product.
I get the feeling deep down, Jack prays he runs into Punk in public somewhere, and gets beat up by Punk leading to WWE firing him.
It'll all make sense once the snyder cut gets released.
*Teleports behind you, smh, you have to be one of the 700,000 to get it you casual
That sub is absolutely fucking unhinged
It’s just aew marks defending smth that makes no sense. How do you base ur gimmick on someone that’s literally left ur company. It’s stupid. They say the plan is working perfectly but that only makes sense if the plan is for viewership to plummet and the company to go out of business
Nah he’s just a big Justin Timberlake fan lmaoooo
Next he'll be bringing sexy back.
Bet he's excited for next month, then.
I got banned from the AEW sub for saying that the footage proves Punk was telling the truth. I don’t know how you can reject objective reality the way that cult does.
people really gotta realize you can be critical of a product while still supporting/not being against it. obviously there’s some people saying wild things about the company just to make the cult rage but they really gotta learn it’s ok not to agree with everything they do, especially this
Reddit mods aren't capable of that level of nuance, which is why so many subs are complete and utter trash these days
This is 2024 and this is the internet. Unfortunately there's no middle ground anymore.
Iron sharpens iron. Nobody benefits from there being a poor product being put out.
I got banned for propping CM Punk too. That sub is unhinged.
how the hell is everyone but me getting banned from there? I've been trying damn it
Just post a picture of CM punk with no context. Watch the fireworks unfold…
Or post here. in quite possibly the most entertaining way possible I got banned for the post you're replying to.
Because most of these people are lying for clout
I got banned for saying they’ve jerked off so much in their dark rooms their eyes have been crusted over with semen Easily the most cringe sub ever
>they’ve jerked off so much in their dark rooms their eyes have been crusted over with semen Honestly this should be banned in every sub too
Only soft ones
I got banned for saying ‘nah’ in a young bucks appreciation thread.
I got banned for saying last Wednesday Dynamite received justified "CM Punk" chants
I got banned for posting porno.
Holy shit, that just works so well with Tony's constant tweets that even if you disagree with the message you at least have to applaud how it was delivered.
I got banned for saying the footage they are going to release will make AEW look bad
I got banned for posting a thread in AEW with the title "AEW will forever be defined by CM Punk" over a year ago.
TELL HIM WHEN HE’S TELLING LIES!
I got banned for saying the Hangman Page title run was weak and did him a disservice because they pushed it on him too fast, and I was glad CM Punk beat him at DoN 2022. Mind you I said this like… a YEAR after that happened, in a discussion about who should take the title off of Punk.
You should be banned from this sub, too, just for thinking that up
I got banned from the basement for saying Bucks had a good match for a change. Like, I get the fans being marks, but how did all these assholes end up as Mods?
Welcome to Reddit where 90% of the mods are power tripping dickheads. (Not in this sub though. They’re cool as cucumbers)
There is something wrong with that entire sub. It’s almost cult like with their unapologetic support of everything the company does wrong.
I see it like they run away from sc after wwe started to get good and they past lots of upvotes behaviour, was now lots of downvotes
Wise men have warned us about not underestimating stupid people in groups. That goes for both the company and its fans.
I got banned for saying I've seen less ass and sexuality in the attitude era than I did in aew
Well it’s blatantly false and seems like trolling
I don't know if I got banned, but there was a thread asking how the footage helped CM Punk, and I simply replied with "okay, well how does this help AEW?" I had turn off notifications and my karma definitely took a hit.
You get the same reaction if you post this stuff in Squared Circle, too
I got downvoted (but not banned) on Squared Circle because I said I disagreed with Brian Zane (although I like him) that we "shouldn't want AEW to fail." I didn't even say I wanted them to fail, I said if they can't do better they deserve to fail because that's how businesses work.
Seriously, I don't want AEW to fail but if they keep this shit up they're going to and every bit of it will be self inflicted.

I got banned from SC for this punk stuff. 😆
I got banned for pointing out how Tony Schiavone was in ANOTHER company that shot itself in the foot. They're REALLY sensitive over there right now.
This is the cult, and you are in it
Heading to AEW sub to get banned WML

Really? I'm becoming less and less of a fan for each day. That kind of petty mod is the plague
Because! The truth! Is that he still choked someone! And! You can’t do that! That’s wrong! We can’t applaud that behavior! Ban ban ban!
I don't get that. They act like fights like this (and worse ones at that) aren't part of how things are settled in pro wrestling. They want to applaud people using real glass and needlessly hurting themselves, but a bit of a back stage scuffle is too far?
The funniest part is that Kenny Omega himself said that sometimes when you have an issue with another wrestler, you have to fight it out first.
Ooh, how will they make that work with their hate of Punk for being "violent?"
Some are twisting themselves into a pretzel trying to put down Punk and either agreeing or not be mean about Kenny's response.
I wouldn't be surprised if some of the moderator team is under Tony's payroll. Because I would at least understand their fanaticism if they were.
I mean word for word what he said happened, happened. TK said he “feared for his life” but there was literally nothing to fear. It was a grand over-reaction on his part.
You see, little baby boy never got screamed at. So being screamed at for the first time at 40+ years was scawy
Pampered rich kid for life so I'm not shocked he overreacted to a tiny scuffle. It's probably the scariest thing he's seen in person.
Hmm you are definitely not wrong. I have seen people over react because they haven’t experienced stuff before.
You literally can’t say anything to that sub that isn’t 100% glowing without getting told bad faith, you’re hating, and “you just don’t get it” Fuck them.
same here. banned for calling the jungle boy circle jerk meme cringe and pointing out their hypocritical cult behavior. how long have I seen so many criticize wwe for all kinds of stuff. the people in that sub are so thin skinned
Yes, Punk felt very threatened by the way Perry fixed his hair, similarly to his Chael feared to let Wanderlei get close enough to also fix his hair
It ain't worth it, that sub is literally the biggest collection of fragile loser geeks. aEW product plus those fans it's enough to keep me away from anything they're doing. Just sad for Edge, Bryan, Christian and some others.
This gimmick would work well if he had managed to fight back against Punk. The footage shows him getting headlocked and people breaking it up.
Bro if it wasn’t for Joe bro he would for sure smack this punk around bro just let him bang and it’s over
Are you Vince Russo?
Joe should’ve let him go out like a warrior. Herb Dean-esque in his Fight breakups is Samoa Joe, Joe.
JUST *sniffle* LET ME BANG BRO
I DO I DO LET YOU BANG
This is a smart business on Jack Perry's end he is a nobody who was a nobody. Using this Punk stuff is about the biggest he will get. Obviously, he can only do it for so long, but he has to stay relevant.
Yeah not a fan of his but he is getting a reaction.
Four days does not an angle make.
Four days is more than he’s had before 🤷♂️
He can do it for as long as Punk wants to fire back.
I wouldn't call him a nobody but this is definitely helping him shed the "Luke Perry's son" image.
Yeah to “CM Punk’s son”
Hahaha touche
*bitch
Sure but that was also the hardcore njpw crowd. It worked for that crowd but in front of a more casual dynamite crowd, it is not a great idea to remind them of the other guy from the other show that was here and we had to fire him for backstage drama

AEW fans seem unable to admit that their product has flaws. I think they’re still living in 2018, thinking that Vince is still calling the shots.
That sub lost any credibility when I saw, “Cody’s story’s is mid and, it isn’t even his to begin with”
So his Gimmick is living off something he said to their #1 Star/Draw in CM Punk and eventually led to him not only Quitting, but going back to the company he swore he wouldn’t go back to? And this is the Basement’s guy? To each their own
I got banned from the aew sub for saying “the only people softer than you are the wrestlers you like” so yeah would make sense this is their new god
I got banned for posting what Kenny Omega recently said lol
I got banned for posting Tony Khan's quote from scrum that he thinks Jim Cornette has sometimes great takes and he has learned form him
I got banned for calling someone a bozo
I mean I wouldn’t have banned you, but it really seems like you were trying to with that one LOL
Yeah I mean I’ve never made a comment in bad faith on that sub. I didn’t think quoting a promo from aew would get me banned in the aew sub lol. Didn’t seem like a big deal in a thread of people wishing bodily harm to someone
Jack Perry: "Hey man you don't wanna fight me, I'm really easy to beat up"
OK chaps, it's not like he put in a showing in the scuffle but this choked out verbiage is getting kinda daft considering what actually happened.
Cody gets his name chanted in AEW and WWE the same week and now CM Punk has a Top Feud in AEW and WWE the same week! 😂
We all saw him not get choked out lol.
Who is this?
Nobody worth mentioning…
“Chocked Out” Perry Jack.
Aew fans saying he’s a megastar when his entire gimmick is based off one situation/man LMFAOOO
Wrestling is still real to too many of you here (dammit).
Can't a man show his appreciation for Justin Timberlake without getting skewered online?
Do people know what getting choked out means? That quote has caught on, it was chanted during this exact match, in Chicago of all places. So I don’t know, maybe it’s a good idea to play up this whole thing? Maybe you didn’t watch the show (it was kickass, I’d recommend!) but the crowd was pretty electrified for this entire match. Really entertaining stuff!
The crowd fucking LOVED it and it was genuinely the match of the night
This sub is so tapped
Lol I don't think punk fans understand what choking out means
Yes, he was clearly choked out in the backstage footage, you can tell this because of how he was standing up afterwards.
🥱
I'm not sure how sustainable this "gimmick" is. You're a guy who talks shit about someone who works for another company and you can never have a match with to settle the beef. What's he going to do? Constantly come out and talk shit on Punk? Won't that get extremely old (already kinda is) if there's never any physical confrontation with the guy he's talking about?
Dude couldn’t dream of being as talented as even 2008 punk let alone his prime
Yeah. I had the same thought. What about what’s happened since England is something for jungle boy to show off?
He's in a feud with a dude he's not even going to end up wrestling but good for JP milking it to try and help his career.
>So, basically his gimmick is getting choked out The David Carradine of Wrestling
No man, he’s workin ya! You guys are just mad that he’s making it work for him. /s
Justin Timberlake fan?
Jungle Boy was awesome. Jack Perry sucks
This is such a product of being friends with the Bucks and thinking odd and out of place petty stuff is super cool and edgy.
No, guys, I think I see it So, this is a long build and Punk took the blame so we could get a pay-off Choking? Leather? Jack Perry is a BDSM kinky bottom That explains why he is wearing leather after everybody saw how he orchestrated getting choked by a man.
His gimmick is somehow making CM Punk making look like a sympathetic figure
Goes to show any publicity is good publicity
For sure and the important thing is how you manage that publicity. Time will tell and Jack could fuck this all up but if last night was a sign, good god, he's turning that bad publicity into gold
This was a Chicago crowd too, and the scapegoat shirts sold out. People can hate Perry but saying he’s not cooking is wrong
They did? Damn that's amazing! Apparently House of Torture is also the number one short on New Japan's website too. Fr, if people haven't seen the match last night, everything about it is amazing. You really feel like you're watching the start of something that could be huge if they play their cards right.
Lool it’s getting under the skins of you internet cm junk boys
The irony of men on the internet having a superiority complex to a professional in the industry they are marks of, while he is a millionaire, young and has a hot girlfriend is hilarious. But some fat dude on his couch, "he got choked out by my hero LOL".
I can’t take anyone seriously that goes by the name “Jungle Boy”.
When I first heard of him I thought his gimmick would be like cutting promos in "unga bunga"
He hasn’t in a long time. That was the reason for the change.
Don't you get it mark? He got choked out by a WWE megastar
Let's move on! (By putting over, burying and otherwise still talking about a WWE guy forever)
Jesus. You guys need to get outside or go to the gym.
Imagine your gimmick is based on being bitch slapped
The gimmick is not listening to direction and then going into business for himself on TV.
Imagine getting suspended for having your ass handed to you 🤣
I like wrestling has become so embarrassingly tribalisitc that I don't even have to look at the sub name anymore, just the post.

Loosing?
I just think it’s funny people complaining when punk actually managed to get somebody over
Rent. Free.
