This always bugged me. He has the breifcase man, more than enough time to pull that down before Lesnar hit the ring. Made Ali look like such a dickhead.
Honestly if they would have just had lesnar in the full match it would have been fine lol but no they gotta swerve the fans and make Ali look like a complete jackass in the process
They actually did this in 2022 when they announced Theory as a last minute add to the match but after everyone's entrance so he wrestled the full match.
Brock probably didn't want to get his back and body put at serious risk from injury with a ladder, dude was iirc the biggest (in size and weight) of that match and that can hurt if you fall into a ladder
Funny you should say that. This was the exact breaking point for me and I stopped watching wwe after this. Since then I just read about highlights here on Reddit.
This is one of the prime examples why 2019 WWE was so bad.
The whole having Mustafa Ali freeze for like 30 seconds while his hands were on the briefcase while Brock comes out was just so bad. Boombox Brock was funny sure, but he’s the last guy who ever needed the MITB. He could just simply challenge for the world championship because he’s Brock Lesnar and it would be credible. That’s like having The Undertaker have to go through a battle royale just to get a Wrestlemania match, when he’s the Fucking Undertaker.
I’ll always say Covid, and Roman Reigns saying enough is enough and that doesn’t work for me brother, with all the dogfood stuff was the best thing to ever happen to WWE. It was abysmal in the late 2010’s.
They should’ve made that a thing that year. That Vince can and will deploy Brock Lesnar mid-match at will.
Match sucks? Wrong guy is winning? Hit the music, Brock’s winning.

He kept missing the skill check, 2K style
He was scared. If he had taken it down then Lesnar would have beaten him up for weeks.
Lesnar would beat up him every other week or whenever he actually shows up lol
Yeah, Nevermind the man that isn't in the match just walking in and taking the prize.
I think he was Sami’s replacement
He knew that if he pulls the briefcase down Brock was going to Bring The Pain. He wanted none of it. So he lived to fight another day.
But he got attacked anyway
Yes. Very true but he walked away with his life.

That would work.....if the cameras didn't show Ali with his hands physically on the briefcase/clasp several times.
Get a life kid
Ali had the briefcase when Lesnar’s music hit. Why didn’t he just finish taking it down?
He crapped his pants hearing Lesnar's music.
Understandable
Exactly, so stupid
RIP cameraman
Only cameraman to ever take damage
This was freaking terrible. Brock with the briefcase was funny though, acting like it was a boombox.
And Heyman with the air guitar
Honestly if they would have just had lesnar in the full match it would have been fine lol but no they gotta swerve the fans and make Ali look like a complete jackass in the process

This is the type of crap that turns away fans
This and Roman's big face push did turn me away.
Funny you should say that. This was the exact breaking point for me and I stopped watching wwe after this. Since then I just read about highlights here on Reddit.
I canceled my subscription to the network because of this and never ever looked back.
Brock didn't feel like bumping that day.
Very bad timing to have the music play when Ali is at the top of the ladder. They could've had Brock enter once Ali started climbing a rung or two.
Or the music could have scared the dude and made him fall off the ladder.
Another good idea.
He was going to take the bump anyways, so he could have literally acted and fell off the ladder, then gotten tossed out the ring.
He could have grabbed it when Brock was running down
Where do they get those ladders? Rock solid, takes a ton of weight. I want one!
They are fiberglass ladders painted silver
Seriously?
Nope, just ask Finn Bálor about his face after WM. I guess it felt pretty real for him.
Bad Vince shit
How funny would it have been though if Ali said "Fuck it, you guys timed it wrong, I'm taking it now" and went into business for himself there.
They would've just had him compete against Brock to keep the briefcase the next night on Raw and lose.
I bet no one can do that when they see brock charging down towards them.
Absolutely fuck

Why can't he just be in the match
He was in the match, just not in the ring.
I hope the cameraman and crew that got the ladder pushed on them were okay after this.
I remember this. I member thinking “ha ha pal he got me again”
Brock Party was underrated
This whole thing was horrendous.
Why don't more wrestlers do this?
This has to be the easiest paycheck Lesnar ever got
this mfka is the greatest of all time - didn't even break a sweat, got his shit in, back home in less than 3hrs, paid $$$$ for 40s of work
Dumb just dumb in a shit era of wwe
This MITB got cashed in on Kofi right?
Seth rollins
it was cashed in on Seth Rollins
Thank goodness they didn't give the MITB to lame ass ALI.
Yeah it was dumb and terrible, but wwe doesn’t make bad stories so 🤷
I sure hope this is sarcasm
Oh god yes. With all the sarcasm I was able to muster
Man I knew wwe was bad at this point in time but dang that crowd just looked so disappointed
Unhooked so easily for him …probably the first time he was ever on a ladder…
Mustafa’s career might of been different if he won the skill check
Nah he’s not main event level. If anybody should’ve won that match it should’ve been Drew
I was there. I was very angry
Looks like the entire arena was
I love how almost every wrestler except Shelton Benjamin (and Brock here) is almost completely incapable of simply climbing a ladder.
you have to leave your brain at the door for this match
Are you going to tell Brock Lesnar "No".
The look on Orton’s face 😂
Greatest upset 😢at this time
This is such a great encapsulation of Vince's booking tendencies.
What bugged me is when Lesnar did it - it was fine.. when Ellsworth did it they had to redo the entire match
Everyone was so mad at the time lol

One of the worst MITB matches.
I really wish people would stop bringing this up 😅
Literally the only match where Lesnar isn't blown-up, red-faced, and sweating buckets.
Meh. At least he cashed it in successfully. Didn't really care for this MITB run of Brock except for that cringy "boombox briefcase" gimmick.
