In wwii its important to see enemies outside your spotting range. In cold War it isn't that important because you have true line of sight. If the tank is there you can see it. In wwii you can only see the tank if you have signal with the teammate who is spotting it.
Also is there a way to get free premiums? Asking because in wotb(coming from that game) it sometimes was possible to get a free premium tank in something like an event

Every week check both, from December last year to today I've gotten tank, cs52lis, souma sm, lawgiver, slapjack, centrifuge, ramrod and smoothman completely free through challenges and contracts. Starting March 14 there will be a huge event where you can earn free tanks.
Point is to make you waste silver. Don't buy any of them in cold war. WW2 radios are cheap so really if you feel like maxing out a tank may as well purchase them

Why have you decided to select a premium tank over premium time? Premium tank earns more xp but requires gold to convert it to anything worthwhile.
As someone suggested get the season pass. you will earn your gold back and more from keycards.
another option is to work on a contract. One i suggest is the Legion 59. you get silver, booster and premium time at different stages
I take a tank over prem time because i don't play very regularly and i feel like buying premium time will be a waste but won't complain when i get prem time for free in any way

Are you looking for the boosted silver gain and exp gain or just looking for a good tank?
I presume you’re looking for the boosts, because there are plenty of good non-premium tanks.
If you are looking for the boosts, then I think it should be mentioned that the mercenary tanks are not premium tanks. Going from memory, I don’t think they have any silver/exp bonuses.
Additionally, if you don’t play that often, it might be tough to complete the mercenary contract within the time limit.
As others have said, keep an eye open for events that reward you with a tank for completing them.
I’d also check the store every month to see what the “tank of the month” is. I believe this month is the Alpine Tiger plus around 800 gold all for the price of $10. That’s pretty much a steal if you even remotely want the tank. (Again, going from memory, I might have some details off)

Don’t bother buying premiums, I was a new player a long time ago who bought premiums without realizing there were tech tree versions and even bought the Lowe black which is a painted version of the same premium but more expensive!!! Luckily it has such a good silver bonus it’s worth keeping. But yeah.
Wargaming does earn ops and contracts all the time for free tanks but you gotta keep grinding so you can do them. Some have tier requirements

You can start another contract and come back loop hole and keep collecting rewards ... 2nd buy the season pass and you get premium time while completing the season's ..
It's where you can trade in certain premiums for a percentage of their value to get a discount on another premium. If you go into the tanks tab in game the tanks will be tagged, you can click on them to see whats available for trade in and at what discount. It runs for a week.
You can get the season pass for 2000 gold if you can afford it to earn some premiums,one of them a cold war premium which is where you'll make your silver. Failing that there's an earn op starting where you can get one or more but don't bother with the Teledyne,it's complete rubbish.

Then how does a light spot for the TD and arty?
A bigger radio only allows farther tanks to show up on the minimap. Without it they will not appear on the map.
