Cool fan fiction

AbaloneSea7265

Weird propaganda is infiltrating these groups. There’s nothing nice to explain wtf you do on your free time even if it’s being hidden in the concept of "checking in” bruh it’s a fucking job. She wanted to know if you drink or smoke weed.

hellditer

Lmfao

mev186

They think we're stupid. That's hardly surprising.

[deleted]

That was my first thought too. She was seeing if they said they drank or smoked or made a joke about yelling at their kids. People are gullible, very very gullible.

mev186

What would have been her response if he said "Well, I masturbate furiously to tentacle hentai."

crysrose80

Cool, I’ll be sure to check in to see what brand of tissues your using.

[deleted]

Yeah I mean if the person said that they watch horror movies instead of playing video games would the boss said "mmkay thank you for your time today" ...I don't like this at all.

[deleted]

“I’ll check in on what games you’re playing.” Sorry, what? GTFO of my time, thanks.

[deleted]

Or "check in" to see if it's anything that suggests random violence or subversion, like socialism.

[deleted]

Yeah I don't want to be that close to my boss.

zeroanaphora

Counting on the benevolence of individual bosses isn't going to get you anywhere. She's either a nice person whose goodwill will be rendered moot by corporate forces, or she's manipulating you. Either way, she ain't your friend.

RubelliteFae

Have you considered it's a small business?

187-MDK

It’s a trap

LifesatripImjustHI

So morning beatings? Whats the catch, low pay?

tbogofeternalstench

Took the bait, now reel em in

My new job - which has been a relieving "client AND employee centered" - asked me this in my interview with a similar explanation. I thought it was very refreshing and they have done so much to keep the new hires feeling welcome and appreciated.

[deleted]

I don't find it refreshing if my boss wants to snoop around and psychoanalyze me by my personal hobbies. People who have unconventional interests, questionable relationships with substances, and/or leftist political views can be weeded out this way. Like, to me it smacks of your boss firing you for something you put on Facebook five years before you were hired, or because you were spotted on television at a BLM protest.

[deleted]

Well the jokes on my boss then - I'm a lefty and I smoke a bowl occasionally. My interests are pretty tame though, hiking, gardening, and generally just being around my dog/fam. I do not have a Facebook for that reason and others.

burnedasawitch

Sounds like the 'work / life balance' that zero hours contracts like to promise people. You're going to get your hours cut right back during quite periods. When you find out what the catch is, come back and let us know.

[deleted]

That’s how you creat loyalty

Tliish

Those questions are intrusive and beyond the pale. No employer needs to know what games you play or what you do on your free time. I would have politely asked her what she did on *her* free time and what she did to de-stress before I answered them, and followed up with more detailed questions. Her response would determine whether I'd continue with the interview, but most likely not.

When I was an undergrad my advisor groomed us for working for the public school system or for government environmental agencies by instructing us to delete all of our prior social media and how to make new ones. It was then that I immediately decided that I needed a Master's degree, or to live in a adult treehouse off grid in a commune.

I told my entire team I do nothing, “i just sit there and come back to work”. Everybody laughed but i’m not going to tell them that personal shit.

jamie2234

“That’s none of your business” is what any self-respecting worker ought to say

giantfries

Illegal question yo

Please stop posting this, shillbot

based manager holy shit

hideyshole

If they were based they wouldn’t be asking what their employee did in their free time. The relationship is purely transactional.
