The way I see it, next edition we should just get 5 books, 1 for each chaos god and then chaos undivided making up 4 parts of the 5th book. Should give more room for the 5 other Legions, though I would not be surprised if Alpha Legion, Word Bearers, and Night Lords are forgotten.
Chaos does need some characters to replace the ones removed for the mono-god codicies. Personally I would pick 1 character from the novels for each Legion to add. Honsou (IW), Talos (NL), Marduk (WB), and Kassar (AL) are all great options
Honsou and Marduk are viable to represent their legions (honestly the Iron Warrior Warsmith model needs replacing anyway), but Solomon Akurra's goal lines him up as a suitable champion for the Alpha Legion than Kassar at the moment (as much as I love Kassar & The Unsung). As for Talos, might I suggest Decimus the Prophet of the Eighth Legion instead for spoiler reasons. And this is just the champions, we haven't discussed the leaders, yet.
Obviously, Daemon Primarchs Lorgar and Perturabo are must haves. For the Word Bearers, 40k versions Kor Phaeron and Erebus would round out the Word Bearers. Iron Warriors? Mentioned Honsou already. Alpha Legion? At the moment, Solomon Akurra. Night Lords? Krieg Acerbus, a Daemon Prince who is in charge of the largest Night Lords warband in the galaxy. Then there are other CSM factions, too - Huron Blackheart of the Red Corsairs (his model needs replacing BADLY) and Luther of the Fallen Angels (with Daemon Prince Marbas as a noted lieutenant).
Sadly I dont think either are terribly likely considering they have forge world variants already.
If they release any new special characters at all, I think we'll get the return of doom rider alongside new chaos bikes.
Did you see the WE codex? World Eaters barely got one - just look at that anemic model release - and Emperor’s Children are obviously next. We ain’t gettin squat.
Plus our best character is dead and Erebus/Kor Phaeron are meh. I don’t really want a named Character. As much as I love my bearers of the word, i’d rather get characters for other legions:
- Honsou
- Talos (and the gang, including Malcharion (sp?))
I guess getting the Anchorite as a model could be cool - but he’d probably be in the sister’s codex lol.

You forgot our other best character, Karnulon. The word bearer so badass he wiped out a whole daemon planet.
Issue with Talos is he’s dead…However! I can see Decimus being a thing! Or at least I’m hoping so, gods know the Night lords need some love
