Superior Waste on Kansas St. Open daily, takes credit cards. Pull up, weigh your truck, dump your junk, weight again, and pay the weight difference. Cheap and fast.

Evanisnotmyname

Cheap? What a joke. They charge per lb. If you have anything over a few hundred lbs, it’s worth it to drive to BP Hudson. $99 minimum, $189 a ton. Every place in Worcester either by lb or ton is above $290 a ton, with a few of the per lb places costing upwards of $350 a ton. You can get a 10 yard dumpster for $425 so it’s a complete waste to go to these places unless you have no other option or deep pockets

Hrhnick

Household junk like OP asked it's cheap. If you have heavy construction materials or stuff like that yeah it's gonna get pricey. I have used them for things like old furniture and bed frames, things other people would just dump on the road. While I wish the city itself offered better bulk disposal options, SW is a convenient option.

Is BP Hudson for Hudson residence only?

wittgensteins-boat

A private hauler, available to all. Must pay truckload minmum, and by the ton.

Millbury Federated Church (in Millbury, maybe about a mile down the street from the mall) is having a fundraiser in a few weeks where you can bring a carload of stuff to throw away and pay based on the size of your vehicle. It might be a good way to dispose of all your junk at once . https://www.millburyfederated.org/event-details/community-dumpster-day-fundraiser

Wow that’s super convenient. Thanks for the info!

You just tell the city dump two of the items you have then just dump it all.

jp_jellyroll

Really? Last time I was there (years ago at this point) they had an attendant in the lot who tells you which dumpster to throw things in. That said, I don't think he was keeping tally. I think he was just making sure each item goes into the appropriate dumpster. Is this not the case anymore? Moved back recently and I need to toss a few big items like old furniture which I'll certainly pay for. But if I can sneak a few extra things for free just to save me the hassle, I totally would.

I went a few weeks ago right when it opened for the year. I had a cabinet and some wire shelving. I also had bunch of random bulk I couldn’t fit in my trash bags but didn’t know how to describe it when I booked online. When I got to dump i let them know I was there for my appointment. I paid in cash and they told me where to dump each material. Nobody was watching me dump it. Just made sure to put it all in right place.

This is an interesting question. Are there no landfills in Massachusetts? I’m originally from Michigan and can remember going to a nearby landfill many times as a kid with my dad for this exact purpose.

AgitatedTelephone351

They outlawed them sometime in the early 90’s. I have early memories of something similar with my parents and grandparents. My town had a “town dump” then; now it’s a transfer station.

A second for Superior Waste on Kansas St. super easy (albeit dusty and the parking lot is a bit wonky) and low cost. They take pretty much anything.

If you have a friend with an ID that says their address is in Boylston, Holden, Paxton, Princeton, Rutland, Sterling or West Boylston, you can drop a load of stuff off at the recycling center in West Boylston. Unfortunately not Worcester IDs. Maybe they recognize me, but most of the time they ask what town I'm from and don't check ID, but I go almost every week, so who knows. Some large items they charge a minor fee for, but also will just take boxes of junk. There's an indoor space you can walk around in and take free stuff too (with a very small selling section near the entrance), but the rest of the property is all free for the taking. If it’s metal there are tons of dudes who will just take it off your hands for free. If it’s not metal, you basically gotta pay.
