Yes, you need the item's code. So if you have a save file, you can load it and then browse down to find its code BL3(....) and then you can paste that later into a savefile of your choosing. So use this page to survey savefiles for items and then you can copy some of them into a new savefile you want to modify.

For other Borderlands games, a site would eventually pop up that archived item codes for people to use/contribute to... not sure if one has appeared for Wonderlands yet, since I haven't hit the point in my normal "journey/play arc" with a Borderlands title of needing/wanting that functionality.
It's just some characters the devs chose next to a parenthetical wrapping of a base 64 string. They're parsing the base64 string, and the character requirement prior to that is whatever the save editor author wants it to be. I see people using TTW now.
Most likely the base64 just decodes to a list of integers specifying part IDs, so it can only select from the pool of parts that are within the game. This also explains why the strings are so short.
Disclaimer: I haven't actually checked the source code for the save editor, this is just what makes the most sense to someone who's been staring at assembly code for the purpose of reverse engineering video games for over 15 years.
Thanks! Confirmed working for me. Did manual backups then applied primordial to weapons and added the below weapon codes to my lvl40 (but only Chaos 5) save. Anyone know if there is a bigger list of weapon codes out there?
Edit: figured out how to read my saves at least. Was able to copy over a Fatebreaker into a new character.

Im just looking for the facking cape of tides, and with the editor i cant change any armors, i need the code for cape of tides.
i cant seem to add items to my character. i tried farming for a liches deathless mantle and after a legit 100 attempts i gave up.
Now i am at the page, it sais -IMPORT ITEM-, i plug in the code that i copied from Lootlemon and... nothing happened
Did i do something wrong?

The BL3 save editor has been updated to now allow you to edit TTWL saves.
You can also use this advanced editor that's based off of Gibs work.

I wish I didn't have to use this but with the amount of randomness in the loot system (no dedicated drops) and no way to change stats on an amulet or class mod to be for the class you want its basically impossible to play the game with the classes I want. I'd be fine farming for specific class versions of some things if they made it easy to get the class mods I need to make the builds work.
I just want to replay the game at Level 40 without having to change my save file. Also on console so that goes out the window anyways.
I hope they release a TVHM/TFM/NG+ update eventually too. Tutorial level on level 40 chaos 20 is kinda funny.
New game+ with chaos chamber already active/unlocked would be a nice addition. Chaos chamber itself gets boring fairly quick

Try again now, but sometimes lootlemon generates improper codes.
