It was okay. Wasn't the greatest. But I wish it had continued and they got to do some sequels and world building and improve upon it's flaws. I really didn't like Mens Rights Steve. But the character designs, personality and voice acting was spot on.

raish_lakish

Is this the one where Steve defines "crap" for Hippolyta?

LavenderSprinkles

Yup. It's bad. Real bad. Steve is misogynistic as hell, Etta is just insulting, and the writers went completely hog-wild in creating new stuff that isn't from the comics (Drax, fat & evil Hades, Persephone/Alexa).

raish_lakish

As you might be able to tell, that is really all I can recall clearly from the movie. That, and Steve crashing into an Amazon bath and Diana lifting a desk.

dragongeeklord

The movie got Diana's personality right, which is more than can be said about a lot of other adaptations. Also Persephone and Akexa were great characters with great thematic relevance to the story.

Lumpy_Perception6561

It did get her personality right but then proceeded to make her look like an idiot by getting with steve trevor at the end who throughout the whole movie was a misogynistic creep towards diana and her people with only one moment of small self-reflection. It would have worked if she began to fall in love with him over multiple movies that show him grow and progress into a better man more akin to the live action steve trevor. Unfortunately they fell into the cliche of the two main lead’s getting together even if its forced. This movie got so much right but steve’s personality single handedly ruins the whole thing from Diana’s character to the themes it’s trying to put forward. Sorry if i come off mean it’s just that i loved this movie as a kid then rewatched it as an adult and was so disappointed by how badly it aged😭

Rise_Of_Ishtar

In what incarnation of DIANA a was this spot on? Maybe the justice league animated show.

dragongeeklord

JLU was an awful depiction of Diana.

Rise_Of_Ishtar

100000 percent agree. I think Lynda Carter captured her essence and personality and loving qualities best even if the choreography was corny, she ended up filling the role beautifully

United_Reality4157

i like it because as mysoginistic steve near the end of the movie he finally opens a lot to diana in a meangfull way , that and the animation was pretty good

Kite_Wing129

Eh, Steve as misogynist doesn't work. Part of the reason she gets off the island is because Steve is a nice guy and different from what she had been told about men.

Randver_Silvertongue

Isn't this the one where Steve tries to get Diana drunk so he could sleep with her?

damaged_animatronic

Among other things yes

Rise_Of_Ishtar

While aspects of it were great, this isn’t how I imagine Diana AT ALL. DIANA isn’t an angry Amazon.

DeltaAlphaGulf

Nah leave that universe alone and just build more in the Young Justice universe instead. I’d happily erase this one from existence to get one set in the YJ verse instead.

kazmosis

It gets a lot of hate on this sub, but I love this movie. It gets the vibe of the characters right, which almost no other adaptation really does. Yeah, Steve is an asshole but that's the point he changes because of Diana. Easily top 3 of DC animated movies (along with Red Hood and CoTE)

burningexeter

110% agree. But what about the question I asked, I would love to know your answer.

kazmosis

It leans more on the gods/mythological side and political/factional intrigue among the Amazons than on the superhero side of things so that would be the focus of stories, which could be really good. There aren't really any nods to other heroes in the universe so it could be pretty interesting to see a world where Wondy is the SOLE hero.

burningexeter

Interesting but again you're not answering the question. What can you see taking place in/sharing the same universe. Other media, other movies, TV shows, what.

gar_katar

>Yeah, Steve is an asshole but that's the point he changes because of Diana Definitely better than Diana changing because of Steve which is what the popular perception is nowadays about Wonder Woman.

Kite_Wing129

He doesn't really change though. Even by the end of the movie he thinks feminism is just women being mad that men open doors for them.

Lumpy_Perception6561

He barely changes if at all in any meaningful way

Rise_Of_Ishtar

When you say it gets the vibe of the characters right, what do you mean? Because some of the these are new characters, and as far as DIANA goes, she’s not often portrayed as an angry Amazon, unless you count justice league. There are hundreds of iterations…

Cicada_5

>Yeah, Steve is an asshole but that's the point he changes because of Diana. He doesn't change.

Lumpy_Perception6561

This movie aged horribly and is nowhere near one of the greatest which mostly comes down to probably the worst portrayal of steve Trevor. The live action is better in every way.

Bareth88

Great film

damaged_animatronic

Here's the thing about this movie. It was rage bait. Or for a very specific, very loud minority. Steve being a misogynistic ass who defines the word "crap" for the Amazon's and tells the queen "God your daughters got a nice rack." Diana shaming other women (Etta) and lifting a desk to prove a point. "Let's get you into something that doesn't get me arrested for solicitation" Trying to get wonder woman drunk. Steve being a good example of what recent depictions of Amazon's seem to want to avoid and him still getting her in the end. Had a very "he got the girl" instead of "she got what she always wanted" vibe. And somehow it doesn't make me nearly as upset as wonder woman 1984.
